  1. On the chance to go further off-topic... Indeed, that might be a step forward to even out the playing ground a bit more. Next to a/d requirements there could for other gear also be requirements for magic or engineering levels (bombs, wards!). Or requirements could be for physical attributes (physique, coordination, perception (for summoning),...) instead of skills.
  2. Disconnect - OVH issue?

OVH is a huge hosting company (it's one of Europe's biggest ones). A few hops inside their own network are not exactly unexpected. Routing can change in principle anytime in order to defend attacks on their services or servers hosted by them. However a routing change doesn't necessarily imply a lost connection.

The door of the house doesn't work from the inside view, but only from the outside view at [179,347] in idaloran insides You enter the house through the door at Idaloran [370,303]
  5. Beware when trading with LightPresent

I don't think it's actually evil. It's not necessarily nice as it's a bit against some common expectations, but things *are* already clearly communicated. The only real problem there is that the common price comparison sites do not have the update frequency to always represent the proper price of the bots. Though when you look at prices comparison sites in the internet, that doesn't necessarily account for the actual price you get in a particular shop either. Just undo the trade and stop calling eachother names
  6. TG gargoyle cave

  7. Do not panic, if you don't run a server. For desktop computers which you use alone or only by trusted people this bug is not that severe as there's most likely no attack vector, save maybe java in your browser, which is an attack vector no matter what. For a remote attacker to exploit it, you must have running a service which allows execution of (unpriviliged) shell code. This can possibly be done indirectly via some other service like a web service with forms which are parsed or similar. But that's generally not the case on desktops. Also, every reasonable distribution has fixed it meanwhile, most fixed it within hours. And it should be part of the usual updates one receives (and you always install updates when your system notifies you, don't you? ).
  8. DuBro banned for no reason :)

The quoted text looks fine to me. Yet, are you much less easy-going than you want to make believe? You then insult people, instead of jointly having a laugh when someone makes a successful joke on you (like maxine did with the muting)? You literally asked for being muted "who gonna stooooop me?". Is it only funny when you make a joke on others by calling them noobs and faggots? By challanging them to stop you? Where's the fun, if you then take it to heart if someone answers your question literally? You could have proven funny, had you had a jolly laugh at it after the 20 minutes of muting Grow up and take yourself less seriously. Just my 2ct.
  9. Yethq - an update

    Get well soon, Yethq
  10. prices

That's always used as an argument. Yet it's not. The point is that the shop has to be profitable enough so that this game is worth maintaining. But whether that's done by selling stones or other items - that's secondary. And currently the economic system is, sad to say, quite boring. And the game is kinda only appealing to who want to level, which mostly means to fight. Yet most sensible professions as they're not only profitable, but you have to actually *pay* for them. Thus anything other than fighter or primary ressource harvester are taken out of the game as sustainable way to play the game. It also takes out of the game possibly good reasons for people to interact - another frequent reason people play these kind of games.
  11. prices

That could work. It gives mixers incentive and motivation. Seeing manufacturing as just another grinding task instead of something where you create things of value was quite a blow for me. At the same time your suggestion keeps some stuff for the shop. Alternatively, and radically it might make sense to remove all NPC sell options. Maybe some NPCs could be modified such that they work like radu's shop, just from ingame. And other NPCs could work like a broker with the options - try to sell $ITEM for price XX. - what offers are there for $ITEM? --> list of offers and I can pick and pay those I like - collect income from $ITEM which I gave it to sell on my behalf. These NPC for instance could keep 10% of the revenue for themselves as to avoid abuse. The NPCs could also just keep their product palette as now. So a potion NPC would only broker potions, a armourer only broker armours etc. It would keep the NPCs around but fix the problem of NPC prices which are then adjusted by the players. It largely could render obsolete merchant bots, though. But maybe not, if people consider the 10% NPC fee and free choice of placement for bots a sufficient advantage.
  12. *glitch* No pear on new game day

Or simply someone stumbled over the pear at the very instant the day changed, fraction of a second earlier than you could check. Maybe also considering ping times.
  13. unset_ally

How much sense does that make? It would disallow to cancel an alliance with a guild whose members start to bagjump or scam others. They'd happily continue to do so and ignore your request to unally them.
  14. antisocial perk

Now, that's an interesting idea which again would give that perk some sense. All who have it already could get the option to remove the perk for free (provided they can free enough PP).
  15. New enriched energy essence use

Well, sell them and buy new EE for the money you get (though you won't get 100)? http://greypal.el-fd.org/cgi-bin/querybot-dev?action=Sell&item=enriched+energy+essence http://greypal.el-fd.org/cgi-bin/querybot-dev?action=Buy&item=energy+essence
  16. Colored fabrics auction

Dutch time currently (due to DST) is GMT+2. Mind also the sign.
  17. Ring of TG?

The ring quest would be pointless with a TG ring. And magic must have some special use, too, those which you can't simply buy.
  18. WTB

price error by a factor of 10?
  19. I see your reasoning, and it makes sense. Yet, nevertheless, I believe it's a good overall gameplay element, if the battle-hardened veterans return upon successful conquest (well, or also on defeat) to their roots. It's a wonderful reason and place to instigate curious questions and conversation by newbie players and conversation with them when suddenly a crowd of warriors beams-in.
  20. A weak argument, as I don't rely that much on low latency, but still: I've been hosting the OpenTTD services (including the master game server to connect players to servers as well as the ingame online content which distributs content required to join many servers - both services where players easily complain about latency. But the machine also serves wiki, repositories and website). It's based in the French data centre of OVH for a few years now. Even in times of DDOS on other websites, this did not seem to have detrimental effect on the availability of our services. Aas far as I recall, in like 4 years we experienced no single time where servers were not available due to network issues - and our userbase likely is equivalent or even larger than EL's - so the statistics are quite decent. OVH seem to be pretty good at diffusing the impact of network incidents.
  21. Quoting in forum

Thanks a lot. Finally readable quotes again
  22. Given the cost in both, time and ressources the CoS perk requires, it should end up only in a positive perk and not have a downside. Making the astrology effect an option by means of a switch as suggested above seems the best way to me.
  23. i am locked

It's fun to see people trying to look like they're an adult but failing
  24. Global Quest Reminder

Wrong. That tells you something about the opinion of most players who hang-around in @6. By far not all people care to hang around in a channel where the immature brag about how cool they are.
  25. Global Quest Reminder

+1 or add a reminder to the New day announcement, maybe even new hour.
