    Such as? No improvements as far as overcoming dragon armor, since players will increase toughness to offset the increased might of their opponents. Longer waits at monster spawns, between increased toughness, might, and emu... The game needs more spawns, but that's another issue.The benefits i stated include that nonfighters can haul more stuff and get their jobs done faster, and fighters could fight stronger monsters, making some unuseful monsters spawns useful. Fighters can kill every monster which currently exists. I sincerely doubt that increasing caps by +4 would suddenly make giants or dragons "trainable". There are enough fighters who have hit the wall of endless Yeti fighting. I don't think making those same players marginally stronger would have any positive effect. If tweaks were made, and/or a new monster added, the goals of the proposed attribute cap increase could perhaps be reached, without throwing the other 95% of players off kilter.

This could mean a complete revamp of any/all monsters, instead of trying to make all players a little stronger, in order for a minority of them to train more effectively on whichever monster.

    Is it possible to modify the break chances for PvP vs. PvE? e.g. for PvP, bronze sword break rate goes back to its revised "original" 1/25 chance?

    That's true, but the number for the cap was not chosen via some very scientific means. It was just a "hmm, looks like a good value". I don't think 52 rather than 48 would be a game changer. z0mg, teh mages harm for 220 material pts!1! (what happens when they have +4 rationality?) The attributes are what they are. If monsters or armor needs to be adjusted, then so be it. I just hate to see so many people short-sightedly begging for a change, before considering all of the consequences.

    The caps were imposed for a reason, and I see no overwhelming reason to change them. The primary reason stated thus far is to allow players to hit harder in PK, to bypass the ebul dragon armor. If caps are increased to 52, presumably, fighters would increase p/c to 52, giving 52 might. However, this also means players can increase toughness to 52. The dragon armors are just as "overpowered" as they were before. Nothing is accomplished, aside from giving fighters 80 extra emu, and allowing them to farm monsters all that much faster. while remaining on a spawn for even longer.

    There were 13 bags, all on adjacent tiles. You formed a massive arrow pointing into the NC arena. You were warned that if this happens again, you would be locked for a month. I then booted you from the game for 5 minutes. You then logged onto your (not very very old) alt, Lovestory to argue with me, saying how you #abuse'd when other people bag spammed. This quite clearly indicates to me that you knew what you were doing was wrong, and chose to do it anyway. Perhaps you should have a month vacation from EL, during which you can re-read the rules?
  7. Summoner Related Changes

    Definitely some interesting ideas proposed in the original thread. A few of the positive standouts, imho: * increased resistance to smiting for summons produced by "summoners" * heal summon for an allied guild's summons. (This would promote the idea of group vs. group fighting) * new arrow to remove invisibility (of players) If a ranger can negate invisibility, then by working together with a summoner, the summons can suddenly attack the dreaded mage alt. Edit: I do not think it is a good idea to have something like ACW summons given true sight. Edit 2: If charm is the key to a summon's resistance to smiting, think of the PKers with high vitality and instinct (thus charm). Summon level is probably a more balanced way to determine this factor.
  8. I completely agree that certain perks (such as HoS and antisocial) are overpowered (that they should either have more consequences, or give fewer pickpoints). I don't think there would be much issue in the gap of chims -> yeti, so much as the ever-increasing number of fighters hitting the wall of being stuck on yeti forevermore (and quitting).

I also muted another player for advising the very same channel of a remarkably similar situation regarding his posterior. I would thank you in the future for not trying to take a situation out of context (as you have here). Your second paragraph, patting the mods on the back for making it a better place is complete bullshit, when done so after your veiled allegations of unfairness. If you have a problem with an action taken by a moderator (in this case, me), feel free to file a report with Aislinn. Do not, however, claim ignorance regarding my actions, as we have discussed this at length. If you want discuss your itchy ass, feel free to use #gm.

[asgnny @ 6]: e.g. team of 5-7 people, each paying 5k gc to join. they face another team of 5-7 people, winner takes gc from both teams The overall setup could be like that of an instance, perhaps split by maximum a/d ranges (max only, to allow for e.g. lower a/d summoners). Each member of a team could visit one of the NPC's to sign up as a team, and would then become "active" for some period of time (an hour?). Once another team signs up, all members from each team would be brought to a storage NPC to suit up (max 10 mins, or when ready?), then brought into a special PK area to fight. Results of these fights (e.g. PlayerX killed PlayerY) could be broadcast to channel 6. Would people actually use something like this? If so, what would prevent players from losing interest? Should it be no-drop, and if so, for all levels? An idea like this would take substantial player support to be implemented, so a few players saying "yeah, I'd try it once" would not work.

    6 hours of no drops means everybody in EL has to stop getting drops from monsters & creatures, just so a few percent of players can fight in a different no-drop location. Weekends are a common time for instance runs, so I think a forced, recurring no drop day is a poor choice.
  14. Poor man's magic weapons

    I see this as just resulting in more orange spam. The problem isn't "z0mg, only playerX has an uber weapon", it's that imo, those weapons are obnoxious to fight against, obnoxious to fight with, and this is the reason my orange spamming stuff sits in storage. If people complain about not liking something because it is annoying, making that annoying thing more common seems like an illogical conclusion. As for the cost, the normal great swords are about 25-28k gc currently. Adding 12k would make the new weapons approximately 37-40k. If the chance of breakage is 8x higher, this makes the expected cost equivalent of a normal uber magic weapon 296-320k. Compare this to an actual market price for an orcslayer of mana nullification, and it's pretty clear that this sword, as well as the jagged saber of cooling are significantly underpriced for the "poor man" version.

    The nexus requirements for the mainstream items were all carefully chosen. If anything, why not bump the uber orange spam stuff up to human 8, leaving everything else as-is? Side note: MoL, MoM are used by players in all walks of EL life. Making these require human 6 would render them useless for lots of mixers.

    An 'honor' system would only work if you know all of your opponents ahead of time (which I'm not sure is a great idea). If not, the entire 'PK instance' idea could be trashed in no time by a team or two of ebul brod'ers. Just throwing the idea out there: is there any way to make e.g. a pool of 10 players who want to fight and two captains who choose teammates from the pool (1st pick, next 2, then alternating)?

    If such a tax were imposed on transactions aside from those for items or services from the EL shop, I think this could work*. The tax (if a large enough percentage) would act effectively like a subsidy for shop purchases, making them relatively less expensive, and thus financially worthwhile. This may be what is needed to bring player purchases back to the EL shop, rather than what is essentially black market purchases. * This can only work if illegal multiplaying rules are strongly enforced, otherwise everyone and their mother will make farming alts, deal with alternative currency (e.g. iron ore), and evade the tax time and time again. This issue can be minimized by enforcing a rule of one player per person (not IP) at a time, which has been previously rejected.
