No. No matter how crappy SDL may be on Windows, it doesn't just magically know which keypresses Windows never should have sent to it.
-
Wrong. It will increase the number of whiners, simply because the name makes people *believe* there is some kind of ownership. Yes, there are people who believe this today. But making it look like it's true will make even more of them.
-
I've done that too. Doesn't make it bright enough. Just because turning off options and turning up the brightness works for some of you, doesn't mean it works for everyone. Torches, lamps, or lanterns should be implemented to help those with bad resolution so we are not forced to get a new monitor just to play the game at night. And then the rest of us would need to get a new monitor, because the game would be so damn bright on a normal working monitor that it would burn out the monitor in short time. Plus we would need to wear sunglasses and sunscreen just to look at the game. Fix your monitor or adjust your gamma settings, the problem is not the game, it's at your end.

No, see it this way: People would only be able to make money from their own achievements, not other peoples bad luck. Even rabbits leave death bags.
-
They would just have to go PK people themselves
-
Yes it will. The people who whine about bag stealing are those who somehow got the idea that the bag was somehow theirs. Where they got it I don't know, but if the bag suddenly has a name, even more people will think the bag is theirs. If you need it for checking bag-spamming, let it be available only to the mods. I'm with Malaclypse on this one, when you die (except in PK), the items lost should just disappear forever. The bear doesn't need your items, so don't let them stay on the ground. This will also help counter the problems created by the infinite supply of ressources (and thus money/item), by providing an exit to balance things out.

New top 50 list for unspecialized players
Leeloo replied to chintan's topic in Suggestions - General, Misc.
First thing, all the top 50 lists are for achievers (or PK'ers, as they need to beat achievers in attack/defence to be able to kill them). The idea here sounds interesting, and I believe the people who see a problem with it do so because they did not understand it. No, it would not be full of zeroes. Let me try to understand it in a different way... We call this new "skill" x - it's not a skill, but seeing it as such makes it easier to understand the list. For each player we calculate this skill as the lowest of their other skills - x=min(att,def,sum,alch,craf,harv,...). When this needs to be done I will leave to the server developers, they are the one who know how the current top 50 lists are generated. Now, the new top 50 list would be the 50 people with the highest skill x. This will not be all zeroes, and I don't believe there will be any zeroes on the list either. There are more than 50 players who don't have any 0 skills. -
Sounds like something that would just get even more people whining about "bag stealing". Once you leave stuff on the ground, it belongs to nobody. Anything that makes it appear to belong to someone is a bad idea IMHO.

That would be if you have a Radeon 9250 or lower. Just make sure you have the newest X.org, preferably 6.8.1. If you get 6.8.2 that will work too, except for everything flashing, in that case let me know and I'll put up a version of EL that fixes it (well, almost) for you to download.

Hmm, "cyber implants"... I am electrical engineer of Borg, resistance is voltage divided by current

Playing is not a prerequisite of making rules. God doesn't 'play', but he makes the rules. Which rules did god make after he stopped "playing"? I mean, it's not like he suddenly said: "I wonder what the humans are doing... What are they flying around for, that looks silly. Let me just make the law of gravity"

You just stick to marrying Shivar
-
Not at all, we're just worried about you. 13 year olds are supposed to have fun. Marriage is not just fun, it's also responsibility and fighting and crying and divorce and all that stuff. But as long as it's only for fun, go ahead. We don't want to ruin the fun.
-
Well, that was my first thought also, but on the other hands... Kids play parents and stuff all the time, playing marriage is no different.
-
Well, so did I untill Roja ruined it. It's impossible to RP with my personal details spread all over the forums, and people sending not so nice PM's (or even local chat) about it. And yet, after I wrote her a PM and told her that I don't like her telling everyone, she is still doing it whenever she mentions me Personally I might have gone for Sk8erjosh, if she hadn't ruined it. But even so, I think having a vote on it ruins the idea... But that's only my personal oppinion, don't let it stop the "kids" playing.
-
Yes, because even though "it's only a game", people still get their feelings involved. Some more than others of course, but I prefer to be on the safe side. Does anyone even know who is playing Doctor nowadays? I think I've seen that char mentioned among the usual Hypatia/Freestyler/SmyzIcan'tspeelthat list, when someone tries to figure out who has which char today. I would be more than a little worried the next time the char was sold - wife included - to some fat old guy who wants to "get friendly", if you know what I mean... Well, maybe I'm just worrying too much, but that's just the way I am.
-
Neither. Don't get caught up in that like Harlee and Madre, look how sad they were when it fell apart. And even if you do want to, it's not something to vote about, it's something you do because you know in your heart that it's right.
-
Well now, either Mihaim or you is lying, he specifically said that noone who knows how to read a log would be allowed to tell if it was valid or not. And if you think otherwise, I would like to know who... I am not aware of any such person being a part of the mod team, after those with the knowledge were kicked out.
-
If you read the thread before it was deleted, you would notice that I only asked if we could have the opinion of someone who knows how to read a log file. Not the log itself. The answer was no. Other people may have investigated the case, but as long as noone with the necessary knowledge have investigated, it is useless. Has that happened? Will it happen? That's what I asked. The answer was no.

Actually, no, it is the graphic card, not the game. I guess Kala uses an S3 video card, right? Or it can also be a SyS card. And how would the graphics card know where to find a completely valid texture that isn't even used in the current scene? It doesn't just look through the computer and go "ooh, that one looks pretty, me wants", something has to tell it where to find the texture, and that something is the game. /me thinks you always blame the graphics card. Didn't you blame my graphics card when EL used a random texture instead of showing "there is no map for this place", and then freed the texture, making everything white? Until I found the bug...
-
Map making perhaps...

OpenGL is 3D, and the game is 3D, so no. Unless... If you are on Linux, there is a ncurses-based, text only client, but you can't walk around and do stuff, only chat.
-
There's no limit in that regard. But you must have quite a few logs to have room for a null tile, if I recall the tiles are way bigger than a log. Also, the logs don't need to match the null tile perfectly, they can go over grass if that looks better.
-
That's unlikely to be the graphics card. Post it under bug reports.

Two commands for the EL addicted: #! (or just !) #restart Examples: #!cvs update #!make #restart #!xmms -f Shouldn't even be that hard to make, at least on *nix. Bonus points for setting up a pipe to put stdout and stderr in the EL console window (so that you can see if make was successfull).
