I'm assuming they can be killed and only last for say 2 hours or somewhere close to it.Great idea, just need a little more informatioin to make it work out.
NeoSeS
Well......The reason I thought they should be so hard to create was so that they would be "Semi-Permanent"
What I mean is....They would stay with you Unless....
A ) You died, or logged off.
B ) You teleported to portals room.
C ) It was killed.
I just thought of something else.......Maybe it could have the same HP's as the owner? Maybe even the same fighting skills? I dont know.......just some ideas. I actually think the Health Points should depend on what material it is made of, and how difficult it is to make.

Happy Holidays Everyone,
Ok I was just thinking...(I'm not very good at that. lol) and I was wondering why we dont have Golems? I did a search of the forums for the word "Golem" and found nothing....so here is my idea...
Golems could be used for carrying items. e.g. Ore, Spare weapons, etc. I think they would have to be extremely difficult and costly to make. There could also be fighting golems, etc.
Example
Steel Golem (Ingredients)
- 4 Enriched Fire essence
- 50-100 steel bars
- 5-10 Enriched Life Essence
- Iron Plate armor???
- 10,000 gold (Or platinum coins, when they are implemented again)
- ETC
There could be many kinds of golems......Even Flesh? (Ewww) lol
Iron
Titanium
Diamond (How cool would these look? lol)
Gold (Would be weak I think, seeing how gold is so soft)
I think that they should be semi-permanent, and follow you around. They should have Health Points so if they go into PK maps they could act as guards, and also leave drops? HEE HEE (I dont think they should lose health over time like normal summons)
To make it hard I think that You should have certain level's in Manu , Summon , AND Magic. Maybe even Alchemy too to be able to create one. Maybe implement a high level spell named "Create Life" or something to that effect? Lets say.....
Manu - 50+?
Summon - 30+?
Magic - 30+?
Alchemy - ???
And before you say......"Well that wont be fair to poor/new players" It would be fair.... they would just have to pay someone to make them one, or collect the ingredients for them.
(Ok maybe it wont be fair to POOR people, but then its not supposed to be easy. More reason to want to level your skills.)
I also suggest that at time of creation you would have to Name the Golem!
For example if I made one for myself (I couldnt with my suggested levels btw) I would simply name it Garrin. All golems could have a sort of Guild like tag, immediately after the name...Steel Golums = SG or something like that so it would be GarrinSG. It would then follow that person around, and only trade with the person they are named after. My point is.....If I wanted to make a Golem for someone who paid me, or gave me the ingredients, lets call him......JimBobRedneck. LOL
I would just name the Golem - JimBobRedneck, and the game could add the SG to it = JimBobRedneckSG
Only one would be able to be alive at one time, and They would not attack unless the owner attacked, or was attacked. Trading with them could be similar to the way you trade with Linux, or another bot. Maybe even the same as trading with Grim, or Molgor, etc...
I am sure there are so many other details I could have added but thats the basic idea. The pictures here are not mine. I just used them as reference, to show what they could possibly look like.
Here are two more pics I found.
Gold Golem?

What does everyone think? Comments appreciated. (Smiles)

Uhm....apparently you only read the "Police Force" title and none of the other posts before yours. What I suggested has nothing to do with a guild. If that guild is a guild of people looking out for others then that is GREAT! Just NOT what this thread is about at all.

I'm pretty sure it was just an example.

What is good about the interface is the way you click the icon once to bring up the box you want, and click the symbol again to make it dissapear. The two exceptions to this is the Pk fist icon which I'm always clicking by accident and the finger use icon. The pk button is not too important but when I get that error message when I use it on someone without realising it it feels like some kind of etiquette breach.
The finger icon I find a nuisance, maybe it should stick around when I'm clicking on barrels and such in case I find a really secret area. It does stay as my cursor when I use something, usually I double right click but if I forget, I drink the potion I'm trying to move. The finger icon is also used in remote magic, it would be handy to have the finger icon auto selected on successful casting of a remote spell. Currently you must reselect the icon when you miss the target. As this point interacts with the first finger icon point perhaps an unsuccessful use of the finger should give a move command but not replace the use cursor with the walk one.
I'm using the client from the main site and am going by the interface I know.
Am I wrong...or wasnt there a wand before when you casted a spell like remote heal, instead of the finger? I also agree that it's kinda hard to remote heal people when you have to click the finger icon everytime. Especially at beam where people beam in and almost immediately start moving. lol
-
Perhaps a larger, more easily visible clickable area to travel between maps. Boats are fine, I'm talking about those tiny signs you have to click on when going 'by land'. Those signs are almost impossible to see on some maps at night in the game. Either make the signs glow or something so we can see them, or make a larger signs to click on on to change area.Thats a good idea, but why can't you just make the entrance to new maps act like entrances to caves? The signs ARE very small in some places. Its not a Huge deal, but making them bigger or having them glow would be a great deal easier.
-
Yes it was a small pop up window that you could keep open, and you just typed in the name. I used to see the link to it all of the time but for some reason i cant remember where it was.
-
Isnt there a remote window program that you can download where you can type in someones namea nd see thier stats? I could swear I saw it before but now I cant find it.

The idea of a jail has come up before, and I really like it. The first problem that immediately springs to mind is how to decide who becomes a police officer, and how to control them. We don;t want the current mods to spend their precious time keeping their police officers under control.Well thats easy.....Since Mods would have more power than a "Police Officer/Sherriff".....whatever you wanna call them, then just have it be the first step to becoming a mod? A sort of test. The only power they would need is the teleport power, and only to the Cell..
-
I actually like the idea of a police force. Or maybe even just a prison that the mods can send a player to for a period of time. From Leeloo -No. Keep the mods out of it. This is for players to do something about.
This is from another thread but as Leeloo suggested I am posting my idea here.
I once played a game where there were a group of players with special powers that would hunt down known criminals. They had the power to teleport them to a "Jail Cell" but they had to get close to them. Which was the realistic part of it. It also meant that the "Criminals" couldnt do anything stationary. E.G.- Harvest, Alchemy, Manu etc. I wont mention the name of the game, but in this game this is how it went.......
Once inside the "Cell" which was a room with no exit, you had a certain amount of time before you could get out, and even then you had to be LET out. They couldnt chat in any channels, or PM anyone but the Mods/Jailers. What was good about this was that Lets say they got a sentence of.....say 2 days? They couldnt simply log out and log back in 3 days later and expect to be free. They would have to be sitting IN the cell and wait "In Game" time.
Now....I dont know if what I am suggesting is even possible. Im not a programmer, but maybe something along these lines? I dunno.

Granted, the Anti-Social perk is a pain as it is, but it seems like it is being misrepresented. If anything, Anti-Social perk should lock the trade function for that player.
Honestly, people with the Anti-Social perk currently just rely on being...welll Social!
In my mind, it would be more of an anti-social perk if you weren't allowed to trade with other players, but could still use NPC's.
Yeah you try having anti-social and not having guild members to help buy stuff, or to walk all the way to MM everytime you need wine. lol (Smiles)
I think Anti-social is fine as it is. I personally broke 3 fast regen cloaks and am sick of having to ask someone go out of thier way to buy me one. I may just not wear one.
The way it is set up now is pretty realistic..... Think of it this way. If a criminal in real life tried to buy something from a shop (Not that you have to be a criminal to have anti-social, but hear me out lol) They would probably be kicked out, or have the police/sherriff/mob called on them, so they must rely on thier close "Friends" to get things for them right? I think that sounds right. I think the biggest down side to taking anti is when you try to sell anything you manufacture, or make with alchemy. Try it sometime. lol I have at least 4000 le's and about 350 different pieces of clothing/armor that I cant sell.

You seem to be missing the point. This is supposed to be a roleplaying game, not a levelling up game. So, you can roleplay different characters. You could roleplay a murderer, a thief, or a scammer. Now, if the last two were against the rules, the only "bad guy" to roleplay would be a murderer. And once the other two are against the rules, how long before people start suggesting that RP'ing a murderer should be against the rules too? I already saw "He is a PK'er" used a few times as the reason why someone should not be unbanned, so it is not as far off as some may think.
These people are easy to avoid. Murderers can be avoided by not going to a PK map. Thiefs can be avoided by never dropping something on the ground that you are not prepared to lose. And scammers can be avoided by using your brain. (Of course this is the reason that scamming against newbies is not allowed, they are presumed to not yet have a fulle developed brain.
)If something should be done against these people, like in real life, it should be done as a part of the playing. Like starting a police force, with people who only PKs people on their wanted list.
Playing the bad guy should not be against the rules.
Leeloo,
I think you pretty much summed it all up.
QUOTE (shasso @ Dec 21 2004, 10:58 AM)oh really.. so why do we have levels then? and top 50 list?Because if we didnt it wouldnt be a Game. It would be a big chat room.
One last thing....
If something should be done against these people, like in real life, it should be done as a part of the playing. Like starting a police force, with people who only PKs people on their wanted list. What a great Idea!!! Instead of banning people for illegally scamming new players and such, why not Create a police force as you suggested? Or just make them PK'able by everyone until they have lost all of the items/gold they scammed (Or until they learn thier lesson?) I am not a PK'er but that does sound like a realistic idea.

I personally have 21 different coordinates, but it has taken me a long time to get them. Also if everyone knew them it wouldnt be so secret anymore. Besides.....Joker gives crap now. Leather and Bread. lol

Can someone please explain to me what trade spamming is? Maybe its just because I've never experienced it, but how does someone trying to trade with you cause you to not be able to fight?

yes, well i've been thinking, and i'd like to help with the Xmas spirit and everything.. i got an idea to be in charge of EL secret santasfor those of you who dont know what a secret santa is, heres the basic jist:
One person decides to give gifts (not big gifts usually) to another person, without that person knowing who gave the gifts until Xmas day.
So i'm volunteering myself to be to person in between. If you wanna have a secret santa, just pm me here in the forums with the person's name and the gift you'd like to give them. (we'll meet sometime ingame for u to give me the gift) and i'll do my best to contact that person and give him/her/it his/her/its gift..
i really wasnt sure where to post this, but events seems like a good place
so if you have someone in mind, don't hesitate! pm today! i'll post here again when i stop accepting exhanges
This is a GREAT Idea. Honest!!!! I love it, BUT if people post here about who they are gifting, and what they are giving, then it isnt so secret now is it? Maybe you should edit it to read "PM me in Game" To keep it totally secret.
Seasons Greetings

I have to say that was pretty weird.......If it wasnt so scary, I would call it cool.
I was there by myself when there were just a second ago, three people with me, and now there are at least 8 garg's (I said 15 before) And they were vanishing in a puff of fire everytime I tried to attack them.....
Like something out of the movie 'Jacob's Ladder' lmao
Anyways I have full faith that you all will figure out what is wrong.
Good Luck.Garrin

There was some sort of network problem, independent of our ability to solve it. The server didn't crash or anything.I think the question on everyone's mind is....When was the last time you guys saved everything? I remember that was the problem with the last BIG reset.

Erm, I got some healing the other day at the Aluwen temple. It wasn't entirely obvious what menu options to take as I recall, but you can get healing. How many Quests have you completed? 6 or 7? Because I went in twice and didnt see a "Healing" option. Only a Blessing for payment of gold, and An option to but tit chain.......
-
This seems like an extremely braindead idea, that just might be wicked fun. LOL
I have a character set up if you are still looking for members. Name is: Tom_Bombadil. Has Bomb in it. lol Anyways let me know.
-
Yes, no one expected that titanium armor price will drop so much. So you have to pay 38k.Also, hell, Help Me section is to ask questions!
Regards.
Well I wasnt really asking for Help . I was just asking if anyone knew why this was like that. Noone would pay 38000 gold for tit chain. I just think it should be removed. Or the price changed.
As it is now, it's useless and I dont know anyone who would pay that much. Maybe they could make the healing option the final service offered from Aluwen.
-
Uhm...I just completed all 7 of the Defense god quests. When you finish #6 you can get healing, but once you complete #7 you cant recieve healing anymore BUT you can now pay 38k gold for a nice shiny Titanium chainmail that I could pay 2-4k for on Market channel!!!!!
Whats up with that? Sounds more like pre-reset prices, but whats the deal with the missing healing option?
Just curious.
