  1. Current CVS errors

Strange things happen to my inv numbers. Hi guys, just grabbed a latest CVS and did a default 'make release', works a treat as always but all the numbers in the bottom of my inv have changed, ie was 1 10 25 100 300 1000, now has 100 300 1000 360 638, or something like that. Very strange. Also my windows are all over the place. I keep 3 copies of CVS binaries, the previous one is fine, but on connecting I got a read the rules and wait 5 secs, very odd, but the inv numbers are what I expect, and the windows are where I expect them. Its not a problem to correct, just real odd. Did I miss something, I've not read the Programming forum for a while JasperCat Linux 32 bit, default make.default no changes. Ubuntu 7.04 fully updated, nothing too weird.
  2. 9/17/2007 Invasion

My first invasion, excellent, pace is really fast and its amusing to watch lines of peeps race across maps. Nice to know whats coming up and if your up to that class of beast its great. As an allrounder it was a real treat. If only the phone hadnt rung 9/10 do it again anyday. JC
  3. Testing out the new models

It's not a command, its a client. Under Linux you need to compile it yourself, enabling the new NEW_ACTOR_SCALE flag in make.defaults. If you don't know how to do this you will need to get a Linux client from a friend, but be very careful to match all the library versions and locations (read: prone to many, many bugs). You basically need to have identical installs of the OS. Most "standardised" distros (ie. those with standard locations for things) of the same release version should work. Could the library version mismatch not be avoided by compiling a static version of the linux client ?
  4. CVS gfx issues under linux

OK, thanks ttlanhil. I'm going to restore a backup from a few days ago and use that for now. Yes I did check the GL gamma code to see what was up, but it looked OK to my horribly un-educated C/C++ eye. In the meantime I'll keep an eye on CVS and compile as usual, I don't think anything major has changed here in the last few days, but I always grab any OS updates as a rule, and blindly trust them FYI this is Edgy Eft 32 bit with NVidia 9631. I may go back to Feisty and try it, but it has a horrible crackly speaker bug in Feisty's sound. Thanks for your time, I'll let you know if I pin it down. JC
  5. CVS gfx issues under linux

I don't think so, as if I use the default game client from the distro I can turn it up over 1.20 and see it get brighter. If I use current cvs [vanilla, as it comes from berlios] anything over 1.20 has no effect. JC Edit : This also was not the case with CVS a few days ago, perhaps 3 days.
  6. CVS gfx issues under linux

Gamma still appears to be capped at 1.20. You wont believe how many CVS clients I have rolled this morning trying to find the offending DEF, but even a plain old 'vanilla' make.defaults as it comes from CVS has this cap, and is a little dark for me. JC
  7. CVS gfx issues under linux

I'm using the NEW_LIGHTING, good point. I will try without and see what the results are. One thing I did notice when dropping F9 lights to illuminate a bit was that only the first F9 casts any illumination. The other lights appear, flame away, smoke like a trooper but give off no visible light. OK, I rolled up a new CVS with an unchanged make.defaults, lighting is OK, FPS is same as vanilla, all seems OK. Thanks BeaverHunter JC
  8. CVS gfx issues under linux

Hi, Current CVS is VERY dark under linux, both day and night. Also I get a 30~40 FPS slowdown compared to the vanilla client. This is using minimap compiled in . Thanks for the bouncy numbers and red cursor, both very nice additions. Minimap could be a great asset for hunting. Cheers JC EDIT : forgot to mention , upping gamma past 1.2 has no effect either.

  13. Linux CVS crash on Remote Heal eye candy

Your right, it should be in bug reports, I never even saw it the other night Bug gone now as of 20:40 CVS (GMT) today. JC
  14. Hi, Linux client CVS as of 18:00 ish GMT today crashes when I try to do a remote heal with eye candy on. Remove eye candy checkbox and all OK. I can however see other peoples Remote Heal candy at sto. Yesterdays CVS was fine, if that helps. System 2.5GHz, NVidia 128Mb gfx, avg 80fps, Ubuntu Feisty Fawn 7.04 all updated. Regards JC Update : Only happens in the cellar room , between caves and EVTR map. Odd.
  15. On the latest linux client when I clear the manu window with the clear button, I get 'You can't harvest here' message in console. And thanks muchly I really appreciate the new features in the latest updates, thanks again. JasperCat
