  1. Duck freedom forces guildtag

I voted Qvak. Why? - DFF and Dff are too common and easy. Boring. - DuCk would look weird just after DuckYo. It'll be like DuckYo DuCk. (Daffy Duck? ) Besides, if you're the Freedom Forces, the last thing you want to do is to duck. - Quak is okay, but Qvak is more up-in-your-face kinda rebellious. (Again, back to the Freedom Forces thing... if you're fighting for freedom and emancipation of all duck-kind, you want a tough name.) So QVAK on! -Lyn-

  4. My experiment with the mapmaker...

I dub this... the Lost Island Temple of Centau! (Centau is Mother Nature's boss...god of Nature, Chaos, and Change. Lives underneath the ocean.) -Lyn-
  5. Don't know what this is

I'm inclined to call it a Winged Werewolf... has a nice ring to it. -Lyn-
  6. Purple Dragon and Wraith?

... O.O Your computer art is better than your pen-and-paper art. Go for it! (It would be great if you could do some of that for the Gods... ) -Lyn-
  7. Um... you DO know that your guild tag/acronym is a synonym for vomit, right? -Lyn-

  9. Most likely...IS BACK!

This is a joke, of course. 34 offers and I'm still guildless. -Lyn-
  10. To be honest, I've always wanted that... but it's not easy sometimes. You need a dedicated writer to be on the dev team, to know what changes are coming up next, and to prepare stories for them. I was the only one that had filled that position, but at that time the Storylines Department had needed some serious revamping, so I was forced to leave it until later... and I retired before it was "later". BUT, I did set into motion the beginnings of the storylines team, quests team, and roleplaying team, as well as script the initial Monster Invasion events. They just need time to grow in numbers in order to handle the workload, become more confident, and then start working together more closely to explain the changes. (See my Vision in Storylines POD for my ideal "multimedia team"). If you really want this to happen, then I would suggest joining in to help out, in any way you can, kl4uz. They need all the help they can get. -Lyn-
  11. The Hall Of Fame

Get someone who can compile it every month/two months or so, and ask Placid if you can host it on EL.net. That's what I did about a year ago, when I compiled the first EL Records, before the server crash(Some of the older fighters would remember that). -Lyn-
  12. Top Reasons to NOT Hit on Females in EL

That's what you get when you use local slang... "birds" would be the British equivalent of "chicks". -Lyn-
  13. Paganism

Oh I see. I misunderstood then. That sorta explains a lot. -Lyn-
  14. Paganism

I understand that... That's why I'm encouraging you to go find out more about it. There is plenty of historical information out there, if you're willing to search for it. That's one way you can confirm your beliefs or not. It would be better than always wondering "if" they "might" be related or not, don't you think? (Aero, I would actually encourage you to do the same, too, before you "give up" on Christianity, so to speak...) Btw, Grum would probably be better suited to tackling the omnipotence question than I would... I think he's got more training in formal philosophy than me. And as for Kala's one, defining all non-Christian beliefs as Pagan, with the exception of atheism and agnosticism, would probably cause some difficulties when it comes to other world religions (like Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, etc.) Okay, now I'm really staying out of it. -Lyn-

  16. Paganism

I'm not sure whether I actually want to get involved in this conversation or not, but I thought I'd at least try to handle this one: sparhawk, when you say that the stories in the Bible are a direct copy from Greek mythology, you're assuming two things: (1) Greek myths came first, before the Bible stories developed; and (2) the person writing the book of Genesis had knowledge/heard of the Greek myths and used them. So, maybe you should go and find out whether this is actually the case or not. Just because they may seem similar doesn't mean that one was a copy of the other. Especially not if Greek mythology developed later than the Biblical texts (in which case, it might be the Greeks that were the copycats), and if the Jews had no contact with the Greeks during the time when the myths were formed. I won't give you the answers, but I'll rather encourage you to do some digging and find out for yourself. It'll probably be more helpful to you that way. ... I probably should go after ttlanhil's omnipotent question and Kala's definition of paganism as well, but I guess I'll stay out of it. -Lyn-
  17. Humor test

The Prankster (21% dark, 34% spontaneous, 16% vulgar) Your Humor style: CLEAN | COMPLEX | LIGHT Hmm... makes sense. I could have figured that out on my own. Yippee... share the same humor as Mar©, ttlanhil and Tanyia. (Probably Deson too... if he ever does this. That "imaginary phone number" siggy of his is hilarious! ) My test tracked 3 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender: You scored higher than 5% on dark You scored higher than 15% on spontaneous You scored higher than 11% on vulgar I guess, compared to others of my age and gender, I'm definitely on one end of the spectrum. (Which is rather scary, actually...) -Lyn-
  18. Lyanna's Lectures

I include three links, for all interested parties to read. The first two are Gamasutra.com articles, so they will require free registration in order to read. I highly encourage those in the Storylines and Quests Teams to get a Gamasutra account. Learner, you should probably take a look at these too. They have implications in AI and desire-based programming. The links are as follows: What Every Game Developer Needs to Know about Story - Important things to undestand in this article is the need for player-centered story, not just dialogue... something that I've been harping about for quite some time. The story MUST come from the player's own choices in conflict, not from merely branching scripted events. Deliberately up the ante in each choice. Make them show their character. (Look at my thread in Storylines & Quests about Random NPC and Quest Ideas... my ideas have always been to throw players into deliberately provocative and character-challenging roles, like an advisor for or against euthanasia). Also, pay attention to the story structure he outlines. You Must Play Facade Now! I've been a follower of Ernest Adam's column for over a year now, and he generally gives good advice and insights into things (plus he's got a PhD in philosophy and is a veteran of the game industry for more than 20 years). He analyses an experimental project on the development of drama and interactivity. This is more for the quest people and the programmers than the storylines people. I hope that as you play the "game" you'll get a stronger appreciation of how many ways there can be of designing interactivity and story into a game. Facade provides an interesting perspective on storytelling and drama. I recommend it not for the "fun", but for it's educational and training value for budding quest-writers and general game designers. The link to the game is here: Facade: A One-Act Interactive Drama Happy learning! -Lyn-
  19. religious holidays, calendar, etc?

Actually, Quartets were the one thing I didn't like. Try to get rid of those if possible, and just make the EL year flow naturally, at a different speed from RL. -Lyn-
  20. religious holidays, calendar, etc?

This was done a long time ago (and was what got me into Storylines work in the first place ). It's seriously out-of-date, but feel free to get any ideas from it and revamp the whole thing. http://www.eternal-lands.com/forum/index.p...wtopic=4926&hl= -Lyn-

  24. Whats up with the remote heals?

I did some checking. If the person is 9 steps or less away from you, the heal is successful. Once you reach 10 or more, then the heal fails. -Lyn-
  25. Legend: Ghost Story - Evil in the Forests...
