  1. Increase gold carried by mobs by a slight percentage <Mixed feelings, someone had to suggest it>, Increase the rate of "stones" being harvested. Two cents.

Increase rate of rare item production. Increase amount of EMU everyone can carry by small percentage. Increase Food max by 5 or so.

Increase (or decrease) the size of creatures. With or without an accompanying att/def increase or decrease.

This idea brought to you by the changing size of the Ants.

  2. - How old are you?

    24

    - Where do you live?

    USA, Colorado

    - Are you studying or working etc.?

    Working, also studying

    - Do you have long history with computer games or is EL your "first love"?

Warcraft, Warcraft2, Eternal Lands. I have not really ever gotten past the last one. :P

So let's start with "real" questions:

    1. The most important reason you play EL? Progression

    2. Is there any other reasons you play? Yes

    3. How did you find the game? While looking for an online RPG that was was A) Free :) Linux-usable

    4. How often do you play? A few times a week

    5. Have you tried any other MMORPG's and do you still play them? No

Why have you stayed in EL? Tradition, Fond memories and Friends

    6. Have you ever bought from EL shop?

Yes, and I probably will again.

    Why?

Because I like to get a little "Boost" every once in a while. "Boost" being a nice item, or a few Rosto's so that I can play in invasions.

  3. MrsBrom created a character, and played the beginning of the game out. She quite liked it I think. These are the comments she had:

    1) To Roja: The green pants and green shirt do not match on the female avatar. :)

    2) The X that is the character on the map, is very thin, and sometimes hard to spot, can we make it thicker?

    3) She wishes she could walk with the arrow keys instead of clicking, it feels better when you are exploring.

Those are her current suggestions, I am sure she will come up with more as she continues to play. (hopefully)

  4. I would like to suggest two monsters.

    1. Spit Bee

Placed around/near beehives. These would be more of a nusance than anything else. They would be aggresive to all players and ignore MM, but they would only deal 1-2 damage for every stinger thrown, and they would have only a little better accuracy than a player. If the player engages the bee in combat, the ranging stops but the bee attacks like normal, strength like that of a rat.

    2. Orc Shaman - More beast than man

Larger foe, which does a good amount of damage 10-20 a shot, and has more accuracy, for the higher-leveled maps. Likewise, if attacked with hand-to-hand the ranging stops and fighting begins.

Simple idea really, I have searched the threads and have not been able to find much on this topic.

  5. Good work! This is an excellent and informative post! I second EvanMarie, talk with people. Not everyone wants to, but many of us love a good conversation, and after that converstation, you have another friend, soon enough people will walk up to you while you are harvesting and join you just because they want company too.

Feel free to chat with me when I am on, I love helping out.

  6. I believe I fall into the under-represented group in this thread:

i guess there are lots of players who like to build up a guild for to work together to reach a goal...

but not realy many of them post here

I have always stood for choosing the nicest path. I give back anything I find, I have never PK'ed, nor do I plan to. If I needed to harvest in a PK zone, I would hire a friend or guildie to assist me. I am not one for fighting much either, but...I am not a person to spend hours manufacturing either. There are people of all sorts in this game, I do enjoy the diversity. I really do enjoy working with other people, It is my greatest drive in the game. Without a good friend to chat with while I mix, slaughter, explore, or whatever, I do not have a good time.

I do have a question however, what is the purpose of this thread? I see lots of ranting but not much being done about it. If you dislike something then please work toward a solution.

Example: Create a head-hunting NPC. Where you can pay money to place on someone's head, Then head-hunters can work to kill the "ebul-doer". It would be nice if you could behead someone and keep the head as a trophy as proof, but even without this, it would be an interesting element. Bounty hunters would arise as a counter-class to much of the problems. (Plus it would be a cash sink, as placing a bounty would require money the NPC would keep)

    Just an idea.

  7. Hello everyone, I know you have not heard from me in a while, but I thought I might enter as well. So I wrote this little story up real quick. I miss EL and the great people who play it, I hope to get some time here soon to return. I might even make the judging on Sunday the 1st. Either way, here is my entry. It is short, but I hope it causes a litle fright. As you will see, my strengths are not in writing horror scenes. ;P

    Fright in the Marsh

    ---

Rounding a dripping tree, Brom the Storyteller looked out onto Morcraven Marsh. He had ventured here before many a time, but usually he carried armour or at least a suitable weapon. All he carried today was the short dagger in the sheath his mother made from calf-hide, his casual orange shirt, which was a little tattered, and plain brown pants with unadorned boots. He was on a date after all, wearing his old bloodied plate mail was not suitable attire for going to the tavern with the girl of his dreams. Upon closer scrutiny, he realized he was not dressed in fine clothing either. Why did he always mis dress for events! First that storytellers event where he wore his plate mail complete with Battleaxe, then this, a date wearing peasants' clothes.

Asrin, a lovely elf with golden-red hair, rounded the bend, following the path from Grahams Village toward Portland, it was the shorter journey to Brom's house in Portland, the northern route was clear unless you ran into Bob the goblin heading into Portland from the north. but the south was shorter, with the chance of seeing greater foes. As she continued north, Brom considered jumping out and scaring the girl. He did after all, have the worlds biggest crush, and it might be a moment that would help them come close together.

Brom rose to his tiptoes, ready to pounce, when something hard tapped him on the shoulder, Brom turned with a start to find himself staring into empty eyes of a skeleton. Horror shot in a gout from his belly to his brain, freezing him momentarily. In that moment, the skeleton brought back him arm and shoved Brom hard in the chest, throwing him backwards. Brom landed flat on his back, his head splashing into a muddy puddle. With no time to clear his eyes from the mud, Brom crab-walked backward, as fast as he could, he knew he would soon feel rusty steel sliding into his chest, cracking ribs and bursting organs. Then he realized Asrin was coming up the path toward him! She would be attacked!

Brom opened his eyes and, through the muck and filth that covered them, he saw the skeleton break, and fall to the ground in a pile of unremarkable bleached bones. Brom stood up as quickly as he could, clearing his eyes with the corners of his hands, then saw Asrin just to the left of him, stifling laughter!

"Watch Out!" Brom said, "There may be more!." Asrin laughed aloud pointing at Brom, "You deserved that!" she guffawed. Comprehension dawned on Brom, Asrin had set this up. She had likely summoned the skeleton herself and had planned it all out. That was why he was shoved with a hand and not by the point of those rusty swords the skeletons usually carried. Upon second reflection, Brom decided this would in fact bring them together. He decided to silently plan and retaliate later, this would end up a great relationship.

  8. Good work on the above issue Octane and gottrech. I do not have much more information for you. I run EL on and off of Poor Man, it crashes the same. Ill log onto Brom with my PC and move him to a different location, (As he is right next to VOTD storage, not the best testing spot to start with. Ill move him somewhere in WS with no water in sight. :)

What other advice do you have for me? If I need to download the code and compile it, I could. I have not worked with a Mac on development though. :)

UPDATE: I moved Brom to the DP tavern and the game runs well. I am about to leave and see what happens.

Update: I caught Octane online, As it ends up, It was the use animation program option that I had checked. I unchecked it and Viola! Problem solved. Beware. I now have a functioning machine that works well on EL MUAHAHAHA

  10. We should go and see if they need assistance. Thank you for telling me about yourself, If you know where a person comes from, it is easier to pick up on what they will do in a given situation. I am very good at reading people, their emotions and feelings, nearly their thoughts sometimes. Using that ability I can see there is something awry on this ship. I understand if you cannot tell me, but should you know something and need a honest source to tell it to, I ask that you will consider me. I am completely Honest.

Brom looked to Enly, waiting for an expression, when none came, he continued. "Keep a sharp eye then." He said it because she did not have to answer the oddly-phrased and drawn out question, what was important is that they work together in keeping their heads in this adventure.

  11. Broms expression did not change as Enly appologized. Inside, Brom did not feel an appology was truly necessary, but then again, women always did have a different view of "what was needed" in a given relation.

"You are forgiven" was Broms response, then he quickly added, "I was not offended, you will find I do not offend easily." I understand that when you are busy with important matters at hand, a casual conversation just for traditions sake is not truly necessary. I am Brom the Storyteller, I am a historian of sorts. I enjoy Mythlore and solid history equally, I can play several instruments if needed to entertain while I tell stories. I have also gotten myself mixed up in quite a few adventures, mainly a result of my unending curiosity for the past, present, and future.

For example, one of the first teams to cross into Irlillon had a nearly-equal team of stowaways, I was one of them. After the first adventures in Irillion I left for two years to serve Aluwen, my Goddess. I left with a small team to the Islands to the south, they are not known as of yet amoungst the general Draian populace, but there are those amoung the Draegoni that know of them. After my two years, I returned, and found Draia completely changed around, with new technology and culture. I was working to catch up on it when I heard of another adventure that pulled at me. Since I usually follow my inner-senses, I did so this time, and here I am speaking with a very kind Draegoni woman who will likly teach me much more about healing.

I am experienced enough to heal minor and major cuts and bruses, bone breaks and sicknesses are not too much work either. The fun comes in when the crew catches the cursed-sicknesses, because they require great strength of magic and greater understanding of how to undo a curse. I am proficient in potion making as well, though I imagine we are stocked up well on this ship with potions.

Tell me more about yourself, where did you come from? What makes you the way you are?"
