  1. invasion tokens

Actually, it's the other way around. You don't need 10 million +xp to train one level of manuing, alchemy, potioning, crafting, ... because it is MUCH harder to level it as high as a/d, because it's harder to earn the exp in the first place. Potioners do SR potions, manuers do leather helms, alchemists do iron/steel/ti bars for leveling, and none of these items yields as much exp as even one hit/block when training fluffy and above. Why should it be easier to achieve high a/d levels than in other skills? It would be comparable to other skills if there were no reasonably trainable creatures above ogres, and you "asking for more balanced creatures" is just asking for a conveniently paved road to even higher a/d levels. Edit: Just wanted to additionally state that while I am not happy about the leveling situation for non - a/d trainers, I am pretty much indifferent about changes to any chims as it doesn't affect me at all. But maybe some of you take note that 1) there are other skills, 2) there are a lot of other people who are not especially interested in training a/d, and 3) you all whine a lot, but that's absolutely OK for me.
  2. invasion tokens

Does every aspect in the game need to be shaped to fit the progress of a/d? It's just one skill of many, and the attention it gets is already exaggerated. Is it possible that those who harness it just whine the loudest?
  3. "The Wardrobe"

When new things enter the game, I often think about how they might look on me, and what might suit me best - the black one, or the blue one? Unfortunately, there is no way to really test it in advance - "borrowing" nice items "to see how they look" or just buying and reselling is not an option if you want to toy around with various combinations. My idea would be to have a special room/house with a NPC where you can get ANY item for free - but it can't leave the house. So you can try on all kinds of armor, weapons, clothing to your liking, take screenshots, decide what to buy or even spend $USD for. Since it would probably be complicated to control which items were brought into the house, I'd suggest to just enforce a "come nakey, leave nakey" policy. What do you think? Cheers, maj
  4. Temporary class system

You always say that, and still it always goes like this: you suggest changes, discussion (bitching) starts, you get frustrated and cancel the change, or things get implemented but differently just because. You could save yourself a lot of hazzle if you would just implement them the way you think they work out best. People would still be bitching, but they would have to try it, and if it really turns out it needs a change you can still change it a couple of weeks later. Initially I liked the idea of "having a say" in what is changed, but in the meantime I am convinced it would be best for the game if you didn't ask for opinions. It's your game, if you want to change something just go for it. Cheers, maj
  5. backpack

Yet Another Backpack Suggestion. The last one was at the beginning of this month, about 20 threads down. If you don't use the search function, you could at least scroll down a bit ...
  6. "The Wardrobe"

Besides the usual "derailing" the comments on this idea were all positive, and no-one voiced concerns about others getting unfair advantages. Possible exploits are rather obvious, and I am sure Radu knows about them (and how to eliminate them), so I don't see the need of discussing them. The important questions are - Do you like the idea? Would you use it, if it would be implemented? I personally like the idea to combine this with some kind of stage for EL appearances, this would be a lot of fun. Looking forward to EL comedy shows
  7. "The Wardrobe"

I am in the lucky position to know pr0 people in all skills, but others might not. Besides, it would still be tedious if you want to mix and mash through armor, weapons and clothing (not all tailors do also manufacture, and not all things are always on stock).
  8. Bias against nocturnal gamers?

Awesome Dilbert comic, you made my day
  9. Raiden (GODZ GUILD) Scammer, liar, and BJer

I've rarely seen so much time and effort being put into a scam. Really good work at making him feel so safe that he let himself be killed _3_ times over. I wonder if guys like Raiden feel the need to take a shower after things like this, to wash off the dirt.
  10. training guide

This guide was written 1.5 years ago, maybe using TS was not as common then as it is now? Anyway, the wiki is quite explicit about the danger and the required equipment, and it was just linked to as "another guide". It does in no way lessen your one and only correct way to level a/d, so why the bitching?
  11. i quit this skill

If you think about it, this sounds obvious - better perception, target is easier to hit, therefore less exp. A shot which is more difficult to succeed should give higher exp. Besides, this doesn't even work different than other skills - raising coordination above a certain point always results in lower exp during fighting training, too.
  12. New medallion: Medallion of Air

If you consider a break rate of 1/50 very high, why do you propose break rates for the other items even higher? I don't think anyone would be willing to use an item which costs 28kgc and has a break rate of 1/10, or 16Kgc breaking with 1/5, or 10Kgc with break rate 1/3, much less an item worth 240kgc breaking with 1/50. MoL has a much better break rate and many even consider this to be too costly and breaking too much for making it worth to wear in anything except for show-off events. Also I am not sure if I got the idea what "absorbing 1/500 damage" means. 1-500, depending on how much you receive? A lower, but constant absorption would IMO make more sense (i.e., chances are 1/15 to absorb 20 damage).
  13. Are you compelled to post your vote in polls?

I voted no, but I made an exception in this case This is not a joke vote - I usually don't feel the need to argue over stuff on internet forums/chats. I long ago lost the urge to try and talk sense into people.
  14. New spawns

I don't think I am going to vote on this. If you want to train something, you will always find a way to do so. Since I started to play, there were a lot of maps and creatures added but the amount of players roughly stayed the same, so why should it be harder to train now? The (apparent) shortage of fluffy and ferros spawns is due to the fact that the bulk of active trainers/fighters is now at fluffy/ferros level. When they gain more a/d levels, there will be a shortage of chims, followed by a shortage of yetis, followed by ... If there are spawns to be added, I'd rather have radu choose creature location and type; creatures should be added for gameplay reasons first, and player convenience far behind. I'd suggest to populate some creatureless places, not necessarily with monsters to train on; for example by adding some rats or spiders to places like the WV-Kus cave, or the Mel-The cave.
  15. Leonard The Leopard

So Saint met leonard on his way to his secret lair? Lucky guy
  16. Leonard The Leopard

Wasn't leonard supposed to "disappear" during the day? And if yes, how so? Does he search for a quiet place to hide?
  17. Leonard The Leopard

Uhm, so? You made him dis 10 times, he got away. What's the interesting part? You have nice perception though
  18. Night textures

With a bit of nitpicking on my side: to see the sky, you will need to tilt the camera. So technically the sky does not require a lot of performance, but it is linked to the tilting of the camera, which does. On a different sidenote: IMO the skybox is one of the best additions to the client ever! I am using it on my linux machine for months now, I love it, and I miss it every time I switch to my windows machine. (Just using the opportunity to make advertisement for the skybox) Cheers, maj
  19. EL Internet Radio

I have seen something like this happen for another online game (although with a much larger userbase). They did a web-radio session, only once per week (friday night at 8 or something) with some music but mostly discussing game related topics. The one "hosting" the radio did interviews with some developers about certain game aspects or changes, discussed recent events with some of the more well-known people, announced some news and stuff. This would certainly also be possible for EL: interviews with Radu and Roja about various topics would be very interesting (like on ent's blog; future plans, economy, what worked out and what didn't, etc), talking with map-makers about some of their maps, talking with event organizers/participants/winners about the event, maybe even talk with some guild leaders about changes in their political stance towards other guilds or guild wars, whatever ... I think there'd be enough content for 2 hours per month, or maybe one hour per week. I for one would certainly tune in to add voices to some names Cheers, maj
  20. Night textures

I sometimes found it difficult to tell if it now night or day, just by looking at the environment. I can't tell if it would be technically a good decision to implement it this way, but I surely like the outcome. It looks very good and makes day and night easy to distinguish. Cheers, maj
  21. Client text macro commands

At the very least, it would be awesome for people who want to sell some stuff on the market channel. You create your selling slogan and alias it, and then you can just re-post in regular interval without having to go through your chat history every time. It would also be useful if those aliases could be kept persistent, written into a file or something, maybe even plain text so you can edit it afterwards?
  22. Fixed the 5000 line wrap bug in CVS

Thanks Phil, reducing or increasing the chat text size by only 0.01 already "works around" this bug.
  23. Fixed the 5000 line wrap bug in CVS

We had that a while ago (a different bug while someone worked on other console changes), but then it was fixed and I never saw it again.. until now: the last line of chat is missing in the console. You can reproduce it easily: just start to harvest something, switch to console, and you will not see the "started to harvest" line until there is a new chat line in any of your channels or local. This happens all the time, not only when reaching a certain amount of chat lines.
  24. Guild donations

When I learned about it in school, the cornerstone was not the actual taxation, but rather the political situation - being allowed to participate in voting, but not able to because of the distance, therefore having no say in any governmental decisions. "No taxation without representation" was the slogan I still remember. This is not only taught in school in the US, but maybe with a slightly different emphasis in other places.
  25. Linux 1.6.0 client test

Works fine for me, although I miss the skybox I am using a Gentoo system, pretty much bleeding edge. Xorg 7.2, ati-drivers version 8.471.3 with FireGL Mobility T2. Any details you want to know? Cheers, maj
