  1. Red Dragon in KF

Sitting around waiting for the Pr0 pk'rs to come, Smurf finally killed the dragon, congratz to him Fun to summon, 14K exp to me. Thanks Entropy
  2. Summoning stones revisited :D

Due to the changing dynamics of the game, I feel that the summoning skill could use some minor adjustments to make it more attractive for players that may be interested in starting the skill and more balanced with other skills in the game. I’m hoping to spark some POSITIVE conversation that can lead to a better game for all of us. I’m only going to touch on summon stones, and only a few of those. I will use the following average prices as a baseline for my conclusions. These prices have changed dramatically since summon stones were introduced to the game. This is due to a changing demand, and the fact that many of the items are rare. LE: 4.5gc ELE: 3.5k GC EME: 4Kgc EWE: 3.2K GC EDE: 1.5k GC Serpent Stones: 1.7Kgc Bear fur :12gc Thread: 2gc SR: 15gc Binding stone 6.8k EMP: 450gc White Tiger Fur: 75gc FP 12gc Gypsum 0gc (not many buy/sell it for summoning... Gypsum actually limits how fast you can level. Due to its heavy weight it is more efficient to haul ingredients to the gypsum and mix. I personally can haul ingredients for 15 tigers stones each trip.. so if time = money, then gypsum is expensive, many others can haul less then I do) _________________________________________ Bear stone Cost to make: ~130gc npc buys :~125gc cost to buy from NPC: 250gc Usefull in PK: yes Conclusion: The bear stone is good to level up summoning for those just starting to make stones, and can be sold to other players since there is a pk use. if sold to other players, then the cost of the stone from the NPC does not limit the marketability. For those that just want to level fast, they can sell straight to the npc, but they will lose money. My suggestion- leave as is _________________________________________________ Tiger stone Cost to make: 231gc Cost to buy from NPC: 650 gc Npc buys: 325gc Useful in PK: yes Conclusion: The Tiger stone is the summoners mainstay for leveling the skill. This stone actually requires a bit of cooperation with high A/D players, due to the difficulty of killing Tigers. The cost of tiger furs has risen dramatically due to the demand. Overall, this is a very balanced stone and profitable for summoners to make. There is a solid demand from pk’rs. Please leave this one as is. _____________________________________________________ Phantom Warrior: Cost to make: 1535gc npc buys : no cost to buy from NPC: 2500gc Usefull in PK: yes, although very limited. Conclusion: This stone is ok as is, but since it requires a rare ingredient and its marketability is limited and the NPC does not buy it, most summoners don’t level with this stone. Although that’s ok, the price from the NPC does not limit the ability to sell. My suggestion, leave as is. _________________________________________________________ Fluffy: Cost to make: 3545gc npc buys : no Cost to buy from NPC: 4000gc Usefull in PK: Somewhat usefull Conclusion: I have only been able to sell this stone when priced around 2-2.5K, due to the new costs associated with the ELE this stone is a loss to make. And when compared to the Sslesser which is much more powerful, its cost to make is way overpriced. Suggestion: Either change the ingredients to lower the cost of manufacture, or set the NPC to buy or a combination of both. If ingredients are left alone, may want to increase the cost of this stone so that summoners are not in direct competition with the NPC. Give the fluffy a ‘special skill’ like the tiger/bear stones to increase its value to pk’rs. _______________________________________________________ SSlesser: Cost to make: 2159gc npc buys : no cost to buy from NPC: 7000gc Usefull in PK: ?? I don’t really know, but it does sell well, so I assume so. Conclusion: leave as is, I believe that as the price of the serpent stones rise, this may need to be reevaluated. But, as it stands currently, Its good. The rare item required limits the amount of stones in the game and the cost from the NPC allows for some room for a price increase before summoners are in direct completion with the NPC. _______________________________________________________ Yeti: Cost to make: 13512GC npc buys : no cost to buy from NPC: 13k Usefull in PK: yes Conclusion: It is obvious that is costs more to make this stone then it costs to buy from the NPC. Recommend raising the price from the NPC to 26K. May want to remove it from the NPC all together and let only the summoners make the higher level stones. _______________________________________________________ Arctic Chim: Cost to make: 14859gc npc buys : no cost to buy from NPC: 16K Usefull in PK: yes Conclusion: Due to the rising cost of ingredients, this stone is very borderline to make. The price from the NPC is so low that summoners are in direct completion with the NPC. Raise the price from the NPC or remove from the NPC altogether. ____________________________________________________________ Giant: Cost to make: 21312 gc npc buys : no cost to buy from NPC: 24K Usefull in PK: yes Conclusion: Same as for yeti and arctic chim, due to the raising prices of ingredients, summoners are in direct completion with the NPC. _____________________________________________________________ Overall thoughts and suggestions: Since summoners don’t get to create luck items like an ‘orc slayer of mana drain’ , I think that there should be some reasons for summoners to want to level besides the ability to make a stone that can be bought from the NPC. That is why I recommended removing the top 2-3 stones from the NPC and making them obtainable only from summoners. I would also like to see the ‘Dragon’ summonable, but NO stone for this creature. This would give a pk party a reason to include a summoner and even a better reason for summoners to level the skill. Before stones, summoning was really a pk skill, stones are great, but lets get the PK back into the skill.
  3. Signature & Avatar Sets

    Awesome job, thanks Saint
  4. Saving Stone

Ahh, thats me..and I do not know if the saving stone will work..in fact I do not know what nexus or what level is recommended. I do know that animal 6 is sufficient and that at my level (80) with only 2 dragons summoned so far I have not even had a food failure, but that does not necessarly tell me much. I carried the stone in hopes that if I failed I would loose it instead of the ingredients. Since I summoned it, I still don't know..lol In theory, summoning is just mixing..so I do believe it would work.
  5. Signature & Avatar Sets

If you do ever get it made, just send me a message in game or through gossip. Thanks, Egarra
  6. Signature & Avatar Sets

Ill take a set Name: egarra Picture: possibly red dragon Color: ?? text: ??- name is usually in lower case Other info: My favorite skill is summoning..Don't know how to pull that off in a sig though. Anything you come up with i'm sure will be great based on the samples I see and certaintly better then what I currently have (zero)
  7. PK server

Is P2P available and if so is pricing same as on regular server?
  8. Def files

Thats what I will do where I really need it pk warnings and such, thanks
  9. Def files

Here is an example of a piece of a def file that is not working as I expect in the [attributes] section of our guild map: [allow_multicombat] min_x: 90 min_y: 271 max_x: 118 max_y: 286 value: 1 text: 'You Entered a multi Combat Combat Area, Let the Games Begin ' [/allow_multicombat] everything works except for the text does not display I have several of these in the [attributes] section, for different attributes of course, and in all instances the text does not display. This is as per the example of the IP def file given in earlier posts but, I also understand that things have changed. Do I need to create a separate [text_area] instead?
  10. PK server

How about money orders or cashiers checks are those available? The inability to send money affects more then just character creation. People may want to buy rostogol stones later and run into the same problem.
  11. PK server

True, but I know a couple of people in RL that tried EL and it was not exciting enough for them so they left. I mentioned a PK server to them today and they are ready to give it a shot. They liked the ideas as Entropy originally laid them out. I think that PK server is going to draw a larger and different crowd to EL then the current game does. Sure new players might start on the regular server to get the hang of the game, but then migrate over to the PK server for the excitement.
  12. PK server

I like this idea much better then the changes to PK suggested to the main server in the other thread, not that those suggestions don't have merit. This is a completely 'new game' whole new challenges to overcome, and I doubt it would ever be boring I see some research would be in order to see what skills are 'really' must haves. Most things can be bought from NPC's and would certainly limit the usefulness of some skills, especially considering that prices on this server should be higher. As for the several 'level limited' arenas that have been suggested. If that were to happen, stick them all together in one location. If people really want to pk, then don't make them go wandering all over Draia to find a good fight I go for Entropy's original idea as posted. Forget all the 'safety measures' This new game is not meant to be played alone. In the end I see only a few strong guilds, not the several small guilds that currently exist. Sounds like fun to me
  13. PK server

I think its worth a shot. It may even bring back some of those that left El because PK is not what it used to be (so I hear). I dont pk much as it is now, but I would create a couple of characters on this new server. If multi playing is allowed then one for a/d only and the other for mixing etc. I would prefer a C3 all pk and special limitations there, but I also understand that creating a C3 is a lot more then just hosting a new server. So this new server may be the best option. Why not..try it out. What about bots, can we have them? Guild maps , will they carry over or will it be a basic EL and any new maps must be added? And there is nothing wrong with building a castle, everyone expects to get paid for working, we all have to live in RL too. This does not sound like it would help do that too much though :/

When the final part is posted, ch 6 will be monitored.....If any help is to be given, questions should be asked in "Pirate Talk", just to add a little bit of fun to the event. Luck to all ya booty hunters.... And so it begins ------------------------------------------------------ The sky thickened as the ship rocked restlessly in the violent seas. The crew lowered the sails in hopes of limiting the affects of the angry winds, but with the limited visibility, the coastal rocks posed more of a threat than the winds ever did. The ship and its crew of pirates had just finished an extremely profitable raid on the merchant vessels in the area. Unfortunately, the raid had taken them to unchartered waters. Uncharted as far as the pirates knew, but to others, waters that were intentionally avoided. The plunder had been worth it, or so it seemed, yet here they were at the mercy of the angry sea. Captain Jack had been in worse situations, but with this young crew, he was not sure of what to expect. He had gathered the most valuable of the booty to his private quarters; he was not a trusting soul, especially of his First Mate. There had been some disagreements between them of late. Captain Jack felt that he had promoted young Bill Smith a bit too early, but upon the death of his former First Mate; he had had to make a choice. At the time Bill had looked to be the best option, now he was questioning his own judgment. He needed to watch his back, but that was not unusual for someone in his profession. New Captain’s were made by the untimely death of the previous. Double lookouts had been posted in the crows-nest, the more eyes the better to watch for the jagged rocks. Just a graze on one of these rocks could do what a whole fleet of war ships had been unable to accomplish. But even so, without the sails, the helmsman did not have much control over the course of the ship. Then he heard it, that sound, the sound that brought back memories. Memories of another lost ship, the sound of breaking wood. Water was pouring in. There had not even been an alarm from the lookouts. They will walk the plank later, but for now he had to check on the damage. It was his ship and he was willing to sacrifice whomever he needed to protect it. Ships were hard to come by, but men were replaceable. There was a ready supply at any port. They were not necessarily willing at first, but usually it only took one example to be dragged stem to stern under the keel to awaken the pirate in any man. Captain Jack ran out his of his quarters to investigate the damage, and by this time the ship had a severe list and the waves were pushing it towards shore. A shore that he had never visited and home to those they had just plundered. Hopefully this was a deserted shore line. It would not be good to have to face those he had just recently plundered on dry land. He may have skill behind the helm of a ship, but this was a different story. He also knew that it would prove difficult to maintain control over his, less than willing, crew. When at sea, the ocean was their prison and he their warden, but now the prison had vanished. He would just have to use a few choice examples to maintain his position - he had plenty of men to spare without a ship to man. First, he had to wait out the weather to survey the damage. He doubted that his ship would be fixable, but at this point it was hard to tell. He ordered his men ashore to scout out the area and prepare a camp. There was not much they could do aboard the ship. In the morning he would decide what to do. He knew though, no matter what, he would have to hide his plunder soon, to protect it from those that inhabited these lands, and his own men. Then he would get to the task of repairing his ship or finding a new one He sent out a search party of 8 men to survey the land while the rest of the crew made camp. He sent the two failed lookouts as lead scouts, if he was lucky, they would serve as fodder to the wild beasts and relieve him of the responsibility of further discipline. They knew of his intentions, but they had little choice but to obey, especially with 6 other angry shipmates at their backs. ------------------------------------------------------------- The next morning 6 had returned. As expected the two lookouts had met an unfortunate demise. One had discovered, much to his dismay, a section of quicksand and was quickly sucked beneath the sands. The other had served as a distraction allowing the other men to escape from one of the beasts that roamed the land. Their survey did prove fruitful though. They learned that they had landed on the coast of a isolated desert surrounded by mountains on the other three sides. It looked to have once been inhabited by an ancient people based upon the ruins they had come upon. The current residents looked to be cave dwellers and primitive beings. They were no match for a pirate crew, or at least they hoped. They discovered a passage through the mountains to the east and also a passage to the south, but that one was heading further inland. Captain Jack, upon deciding that the ship was not worth repairing, had decided to take a large party to ‘acquire’ a new ship and some fresh recruits. Even though he badly needed a ship, he felt the need to protect his treasure even more. His main prize on his recent conquest was a magical sword. It was shaped like the waves and it shimmered the color of royalty. The sea, in itself, provided a measure of protection for his treasure. The ship served as a prison to his crew, it also served as a vault to his ill-gotten gains. He desperately needed to hide his treasure, but not here, not in this desert. ------------------------------------------------------------- They secured what they could at the ship and then headed towards the pass in the mountains to the east. They tried to avoid the beasts that roamed, but lost several more men in the attempt. They crossed into this new land, but Captain Jack was disappointed to find that the land on the other side of the mountains looked much like the last. The air smelled of spent gunpowder. The smell seemed to come and go with the shifting of the wind, although it never truly went away. The smell served as a constant reminder that he was not out at sea which he claimed as home. They came upon a small settlement to the south, Captain Jack and a few of his crew went into town to investigate. They stopped at a local tavern for a few drinks and much needed information. After a few drinks and a few rounds with the local wenches, wenches alone worth being a pirate; he discovered that there was a port city just over the next mountain range to the east and a suitable jungle to the north in this land to hide the main body of his crew. He learned enough about this city over the mountains to know that it would provide him with all that he needed. He and his small group met back up with the main party and they made camp in the north. The next morning the Captain and his First Mate headed out to the east. He had believed it necessary to bring Bill along as he was afraid of a mutiny if he was left alone with the crew. Bill had appeared to be improving, and did he did not appear to be as disgruntled as before. Although this was an improvement, Jack was still loathe to put his trust in him. As they approached the mountains the stench became stronger, he did not know how anyone could live with this smell. “Aye, give me the salt air any day” he thought. He soon discovered the source of the foul smell. It was sulfur. He made a note of it in his journal for future reference. Although it had a pungent smell, it made for a good landmark. He and Bill climbed through the mountains and dropped down into yet another desert. This one was a strange land. As far as they could see, there were strange crystals protruding from the sand. They saw the roaming monsters that they were warned about, but this time they were prepared. They donned green cloaks that their previous owner’s had informed them would protect them from such beasts. The travelers, so liberal with information, had no further use for them now… -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Captain Jack sent his First Mate to survey the land and to inspect the ships currently in port. Not just any ship would do, they needed something that could be used as a warship. Speed was important size was not and of course availability. They scheduled a rendezvous later that evening in the port city. There they would discuss their next move. His real goal was to have time to locate a good spot to bury his treasure. He searched most of the day and set to the task of hiding his loot. Captain Jack drew a rough map as a reminder to himself of its location. He returned to town to meet up with Bill. they rented a couple of rooms above the tavern to get some much needed sleep. Strangely, the bartender gave him a room that he told them he normally kept for Merf, he had hoped that Merf did not show up in the middle of the night. Jack awoke from a groggy sleep in the middle of the afternoon. He had a funny taste in his mouth, and he recognized it as a drug that he himself had used in the past on his victims. He knew the drug could last for days and by the way his stomach felt, he knew it had been at least two. He searched his pockets for his map; he reached in and was comforted by the feeling of parchment which he readily pulled out. He opened it up to reassure himself and found instead a letter from Bill. It read “Jack, Don't ye be botherin rushing to recover yer treasure, I have liberated it from its restin place, and cast it to the winds. As for yer prized sword, I have taken to the lands south a here. The Green Cloak won’t protect ya from the biggest dangers in that land. Since yer so fond of maps, I have left ye one too, but luck be with ya figern out the true resting place of yer beloved treasure. But warnin, ya best beware, as I have given both of these here maps to yer old crew. They be less than pleased at the spoils you have been hoardin. Luck to ya trying to recover yer booty. The choice of which ye try to recover first be up to ye. Don't ye be botherin looking fer me, by the time ye read this letter, me an me loyal crew shall be long gone from this place on me newly acquired ship. Til we meet again. Captain Bill” ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I happen to have in my possession the two maps that Bill and Jack created. I was asked by Bill to give them to Jack's old crew. I will post these tomorrow. They appear to be very accurate, just not very detailed. So you certainly will have to of already determined which main maps they are on before you can look for the treasure. The first map is the one that Jack created that shows the "original' location of the treasure before Bill got his hands on it and "cast it to the winds' so I think you will have to dig around a bit to find it all. The second map, the one that Bill created for hiding Jacks's Sword, looks to be in a dangerous area (PK). There are several X's marked on the map, probably placed as a delay tactic by Bill, and I can only assume that only one of them is accurate. Good Luck to all the Booty hunters http://img69.imageshack.us/my.php?image=map1mergedkt0.jpg http://img65.imageshack.us/my.php?image=map2mergedmd9.jpg other options http://s232.photobucket.com/albums/ee193/e...p2mergedmd9.jpg http://s232.photobucket.com/albums/ee193/e...p1mergedkt0.jpg ------------------Disclaimer ----------------------------------------- You are responsible for your own shovels (keys) and your own protection while searching. No whining from those that go after the sword, you enter a PK area at your own risk. Don't IG KD with your problems. As in most PK events, do what you have to do to be the winner. No limitations on weapons, armor, summoning, etc. If you find a bag, please post its location so I can verify its finding. The contest will end when all 6 bags are recovered. Pictures are nice.

Aye, The story will set up the final treasure hunt, it also adds some fun. From the story you need to determine where in Draia (what map(s)) the actual hunt will take place. The more knowledge you have of the actual map(s) that hold the treasure, the better your chances on Saturday. We chose Saturday to let more people play, but we had to start it on "Talk like a Pirate Day' Just for the fun of it. Hey, it is a pirate story you know.

  24. Summoning stones revisited :D

Wow..this seems high to me. Lets suppose that the dragon was made summonable, but there was not a stone. Then it would be rare in PK since only summonors could summon it. At this point there are very few summonors that can even summon a giant. I think of my experiences making giant stones and HUGE failure rates, and that is with a blessing. I have failed and lost ingredients for 4 giants stones in a row once, hince why I think that NPC prices are low. When you 'click' on a stone, there is no chance of failure. In KF, if a dragon was summoned the traditional way, then there is not the benefit of using a blessing unless the timing was perfect, and there will be a huge chance for failure. If a dragon was made summonable, then I think it should be summoned. If the price is too high, and the failure rate too high then I doubt that it would get much use at all. ---I use the dragon as the example since that is currently the only monster in the game above giants. When I started this thread, I was thinking about how to improve the summoning skill and make it more attractive to players to start and for players that are already involved with the skill to stick with it. When I started summoning there were no stones and I thought of it as a PK skill. When stones were created the skill changed drastically. I continued the skill since I already had a lot of time and money invested, its much easier to level now and not as expensive, but imho its no longer summoning...summoners are the only ones that don't summon anymore. We make stones for others to summon. There are a lot of skills that make something..Potioners, crafters, manufactures, alchemist are all types of manufacturing skills. Magic is not, A/D is not, Harvesting is not, Summoning was not, but now it is. I would like to see a blend for the summoning skill, keep the stones (they ballance out the skill and make it easier to level which should attract more players to summon), but bring back the reason to summon in the traditional way. I think this 'reason' could be embodied in the ability to summon a dragon (no stone) I think that everyone will benefit. I can't speak for other summonors, but I beleive that most would be happy with this.
  25. Summoning stones revisited :D

Today, they may be a crazy advantage, but what about in a year or so from now. There are already players that fight Dragons. If we were talking about a dragon stone instead of a summonable dragon woulld you think the same way? If a dragon were summoned during pk would it end all PK as we now know it? I'm very interested in what pk'rs have to say about summoning in pk, and would like to see some more commentary about stones in general and not just the giant. Summoning, as it currently stands, is basically creating weapons for pk'rs. I tried using a yeti once to harvest white tiger furs, but the expense of ingredients and the cost of the essences to keep it alive, greatly outweighed the number of furs obtained. Hey, but it was fun. It was the first time I really summoned since stones were created. Now, I pretty much just manufacture stones. I'm just hoping that leveling can slow down, and then there would be something to do with the skill once I reach the top. As it currently stands, the benefit to leveling summoning is just less failures. I already make all the stones. And there is not a huge market for Giant stones. I may sell 1 or 2 a week, so its great exp, but I cant sell to the NPC and not many buy (only pk'rs), so I don't make too many. Thats not even taking into account that the stone requires many rare ingredients. 3 ele, 1 eme, and a binding stone. Its not just about money, those can be hard to come by. Again the mainstay for summoners is tigers. I may be interested in getting involved in pk, but with my A/D I have a long way to go. But with summoning, that could be a different story. I would like to hear what other pk'rs think about a Dragon in pk.......
