Ogres, Trolls, Cyclopses
The earth was shaking, the sky darkening and the hope of men was failing. We had fought bravely to gain entrance to Carmien Manor, but so far we were standing at the steps to the entrance. The opposing forces seemed to be limitless. And I tell you, the rumors we had heard were indeed true. From the depths of the dungeon of the manor came vile beasts, huge brutes sporting devastating weapons. The shorter ones, the trolls, uprooted small trees to use as clubs with formidable reach. The slightly larger ogres seemed so infuriated that they didn’t care for weapons at all. And finally, the one-eyed Cyclops in crude armor and studded greatclubs. The horror is almost indescribable.
- Veteran Tidol Uveshre, who was found unconscious at the stairs of Carmien manor by a Nordcarn rescue team.
History
It is believed that the brutish races were originally the guardians and soldiers of the Inner Realm, the realm of Mortos. With the help from Selain, Mortos corrupted other races as well and grew tired of his brutes. He whispered to Lord Kilaran, promising great wealth, and so a deal was signed. From the shadow depths of the Inner Realm, Lord Kilaran and Mortos unleashed terror upon the soil of Draia. So was the dawn of the brutish races.
Physiology
The brutish races of Draia are bullies that rely on their size and strength for power. They are known as Trolls, Ogres and Cyclops. Of the three races the troll is the most intelligent, having said that, trolls are still not intelligent enough to comprehend writing or the concept of magic.
The brown troll is slightly larger than a human. Trolls usually hunt in grassy, sparsely wooded areas preying on unfortunate warriors and other innocent victims.
The ogre is not very intelligent, and is very grouchy and lazy. Their skin tones vary from a greenish color to a human's peach tone, and they're usually a hulking 8 feet tall with a wide girth (due to their laziness).
The cyclops are big strong brutes that will attack anything moving in sight when they feel threatened. With their obvious lack of brains, they make up for in strength and size. A cyclops can be as tall as 10 to 12 feet.
Society
None of the three brutish races worship any gods, but they fear Mortos.
Trolls mainly hunt alone, but they are social enough to build and maintain villages, where they live with their own kind.
Ogres tend to live by themselves, and set their own territories usually quite far from other ogres. They throw out any other humanoid creature they find living there and will attack you on sight.
Not much is known about the societies of the cyclops, because no one has gotten close enough, or lasted long enough, to tell the tale.
Standard tactics of the three brutish races is usually head on assaults. They use their strength to end any battle as quickly as possible, usually they are quite successful.
