Platyna Report post Posted September 16, 2004 Before you post on this forum, post your system specification: - Operating System you are running, if Windows then which one, if Linux which distribution etc. - THAT WHAT YOU HAVE IN YOUR ERROR_LOG.TXT FILE in your EL directory. - Graphic card, and what drivers (standard system one or from vendor or downloaded from some porn website *winks*). - CPU, RAM is ok too. If you have this in your error_log.txt: Error: Can't load 2d object: ./2dobjects/ground/grass5.2d0 Download this: http://unix.eternal-lands.net/misc/e3dlist.txt (yes, Windows users too). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Someone can send me el client binary compiled on some absolutely standard, newly installed and clean Windows? fred_penner Report post Posted September 16, 2004 What's "Windoze"? Is that some Polish knock-off version of everyone's favourite operating system from Microsoft, "Windows"? ps. It's not me. It's you.
Roja Report post Posted September 16, 2004 you also have to realise that many people who post here have no idea what their gfx card is or how to find it..maybe you should explain that too.
Platyna Report post Posted September 16, 2004 Okie: Small retrieving your card info HOWTO: Right click on your desktop then chose "Properties" there should be something like Advanced or something like that (fixme, I am not a Windows user). Anyway it would be cool if it would be sticky for a while, because there are already 5 topics about same thing TODAY! And yes Fred Windoze is Windows but in general not in Polish. In Polish it is Windoza. Hehe. Regards.
fred_penner Report post Posted September 16, 2004 you also have to realise that many people who post here have no idea what their gfx card is or how to find it..maybe you should explain that too. I also don't have a "gfx card". I do however have a "graphics card" or as some say "video card". Do you need info on that? To be blunt: if you're trying to help people, drop the stupid Internet dialect and speak plainly, in English. Keep in mind that the people you're trying to help may have limited English vocabulary and any short forms or 133t talk is going to make it impossible for them. It doesn't matter so much in other forums, but here you should be as clear as possible.

Ezeril Report post Posted September 17, 2004 If you have this in your error_log.txt:Error: Can't load 2d object: ./2dobjects/ground/grass5.2d0 Download this: http://unix.eternal-lands.net/misc/e3dlist.txt (yes, Windows users too). Actually, that error will appear in your error_log.txt even if you have the e3dlist.txt file, provided you visit Isla Prima. The reason that error appears is that the Isla Prima map (startmap.elm) references the grass5.2d0 object for some reason. (IP is the only map that references this object, I went through every map file with a hex editor and checked). The fact that it's missing isn't a critical error though. Whoever wrote the part of the client code dealing with loading all of the .2d0 files a map needs (I won't post exact code unless someone asks), made sure that missing .2d0 files would not crash the client. I'm not saying that new people having problems shouldn't check to see if they have the e3dlist.txt file... I'm just saying that this file is not the reason for the "Error: Can't load 2d object: ./2dobjects/ground/grass5.2d0" message.

Guest Boddos Report post Posted September 17, 2004 Maybe Ezeril is right. When I have an error it says Error: Problems loading texture: ./textures/fontv.bmp and after that Error: Can't open file: ./2dobjects/ground/grass5.2d0 , so there are 2 errors. If anyone of you guys know someone that can speak Dutch, please ask him if he or she wants to help me out with this error. Because I just don't understand how so many people can play eternal lands except me and some other guys. I know my graphic card is well enough to play this game, because I already played the game before, but I deleted all programs and games on my pc like an year ago. I installed the game all over again and I know that everything started all over again but I really would like to play eternal lands again. Sorry for this story that puts all of you in sleep.
