character based el.ini

Recommended Posts

Do not know if it is possible or not, but

is there a way that we can modify screen size and other parpameters on client, after we loggedin based on a personalized el.ini?

or if that is not possible, have it that way, that running el.exe name would get a specialized el.ini?

see here (not quite character based, but a good approximation):

http://life-is-eternal.blogspot.fr/2014/04/different-settings-for-different-alts.html

If you are organised enough to make such a server alias before creating your alt,

you could create an alias in server.lst first (perhaps even with the name of the alt)

and you'd get everything created for you (settings files, chat, server and quest logs, etc).

However, any such modification is at your own risk, don't come complaining if it blows up

your computer, eats your cat or whatever else might go wrong...

It's a "hack" of sorts, but yes, my blog link in previous post will set things up so "el.exe name" will give different settings.

Written for Linux users, but works the same on other systems, just different file locations.

Burn, I have a suggestion for a slight modification of your page: On your page, you suggest modifying the system servers.lst file (in /usr/share/games/elc/ or whereever) as root. Instead, you can copy the system's servers.lst to your ~/.elc directory and modify the copy. That way, if you install a new version, your changes won't be overwritten. You should also mention that the maximum number of server entries you can have in the file is 10, and the maximum number of characters in the server name (1st field) and subdirectory (2nd field) is 19.
