Ozmondius Report post Posted November 27, 2007 (edited) I have had 3 hard system crashes since installing the new client. Completely freezes the computer requiring a hard reboot. Have resintalled 3x. I can play a little while, then it freezes. I have the error log file, but am not quite sure who to send it to or how. Edit: 4 hard crashes now. At first I thought I may have messed it up by copying some of my *.elm files, spell, and counter files into the new directory, so I wiped everything out and started again. Still crash. One common thing with each crash: it's happened at the exact moment I engage an ogre in battle at a particular area of the Melinis cave. Don't know if it's coincidence or not. 5th hard crash, same area of the cave, but a couple of seconds after I engaged the ogre. I fought for approx 22 min b4 the crash. 6th hard crash--not fighting at all, but attempting to leave the cave in the same general area as when the other problems occurred. System: Windows XP pro 5.1.2600 SP 2 Build 2600, Compaq nx7010, Intel Family 6 MOdel 13 Stepping 6 1594 mhz, video--ATI mobility radeon 9200, realtek rtl8139c+ NIC. At first I thought it was due to new sound files because the hard crash occured just as I began fighting and the fighting sounds come in. I disabled sound and music and tried again. Same result. The fighting of monsters and animals seems to trigger the crash. Hard reset is required to get system to turn back on. I'm running Windows XP on a Dell system. AMD processors @ 1.6 Ghz with 1.87 GB ram. Hardline cable modem connection @ 100 Mbit/sec. Graphics adapter is a ATI Radeon Xpress 1150. Hope this helps to diagnose. Also, I'm posting here because this is where I posted originally and when I first posted this was the existing thread at the time. I know since then many others have posted new threads but I'm trying to not muddle the waters. I tried a complete unistall including deleting all the My Computer files. I then redownloaded the ver 1.5 client and reinstalled. I did not download the music pack. I did however copy my .txt files from the previous install to the new install c:/program files/eternal lands directory. I then tried again. The login is fine but I get a very rough frames per second count oscilating from 8 fps to 40 fps even when sitting still. When I try to fight something the system crashes. This time I got an error message from my system. I have a screen shot of this error message but I can't figure out how to post it here. Game freezes and now I cannot log back in. I did get a message stating the client was being updated. Here's the latest error log, but still cant log on now. I get to enter user name/password... captdeadhead Report post Posted November 27, 2007 ok I updated drivers. turned auto updates off. and renamed C:\Documents and Settings\IBM USER\My Documents\Eternal Landsold let me back in again with no freezes. Had 8 freezes before. what got me is i was in for a few hours with no problems. Anyway try those as it worked for my laptop... Report post Posted November 27, 2007 Tried to create a new character and get the same problem, seems like it's going to work then, Bam! error message, 'generated a fout, close down' freezes up, can do nothing. I think this was the original, but now I am confused as to where I should post, so apologies in advance. I have looked for guidance on the proper place to post these now, but I couldn't find any. In another thread, I was advised to post my error log msg. I did. Also in that same thread, Entropy advised to turn off sound, which I already had. In the same thread, Entropy advised that if I had another crash, to delete the my documents EL folder and restart the client. I did have another crash, so I deleted the EL folder in my documents and started the client again. It worked fine for about 1.5 hours--including harvesting and fighting. It crashed again when I tried to beam. I tried to logon again, it hung and system crashed in the logon stage. Next, I deleted the my documents EL folder and uninstalled the client. I redownloaded client (but not sound) and installed again. This time, I was able to play for 3-4 hours with no problems. I logged off last night and then logged on this morning. Within seconds of logging on, the system crashed again. I rebooted and logged on again. I was able to play for about 30 minutes before the system crashed again.
