I don't think I remember what I wanted to be at the start, most likely a mage or something.

Now I'm not much of anything LOL.

Is i started this game i had no idea what to aspedt of it. Afterall it was the first online game i ever played

Then i met someone who needed foxfur and after a while he asked if i had any fe, and i could sell him like the many efe i happend to make, i was on the irilion channel back then as the only super noob so i started a bit more alching then all the other skills, meanwhile i did some fighting to get me food and gc, and because of the alching jobs i got my harving fell a bit behind.

then i slowly did some manuing and i needed tele rings too, so i joined the 2 gods and started to do some lvl'ing in these skills. And then i was able to make some swords.. And guess what, the first sword i ever made was a modable iron broad sword. LOL

I decided it wanted to make these special items too so i did a bit more lvl'ng in manu but that became a little bit too boring.

Anyway since i have too manu pp in nexus I decided that it would be fun to keep all skills at same lvl. Which means that atm I'm trying to get my crafting to 48 like all the others, except summon and engineering.

Summoning is something i do now to clean storage :w00t: and engineering... well i decided that would be a skill i will keep at lvl. 0.0 :)

So for as an answer to your question why... because its way more fun than doing just 1 or 2 things

when i started to play i was first wanted to be mage, but it was hard from begining, than i start fith attack/def,

and than i met blodoks, he shows me how to play El and some stuff, so after that i wanted to be alc or manu but i am still all arounder and its pretty cool for u to do all the things, u can make armor, than use it in fight, heal, cast spells... i think that when u are strong enough in all skills, than u are good player, but its great to be specialist in some skill and to be the best ofc, but for me not, i like to role play, make allot of fun, and i am all arounder in my heart :P

and btw i was locked for a year and now i am unlocked again, so cya in the game... again :)

At first I wanted to be manufacturer and make swords. Then I found out I would need alchemy for bars and harvesting for the ingredients.

So I harvested. Started making essences to train alchemy. I needed use for essences, so I thought of starting to use magic.

The best way to use essences was while fighting, so started to train a/d.

So I became fighter and left all plans for manufacturing.

I've always wanted to be a allrounder... and I keep telling myself I'll train my other skills after I'm done with a/d which will probably never happen so I'll stick with a/d :P

At first it was a/d only for me. Stayed that way for a while untill I started summoning, then I lost intrest in training a/d and started mixing alot.

Now I do all including training. (although I'm having a bit of trouble started crafting/engineering)

Hi everybody,

After watching my husband 'niemand' play for about 2 mounths, I started to play this game with my own char. I never dreamt I'd play a game like this, but I discouvered all the skills there are and liked that a lot.

I'm not all that much into fighting, but my a/d is slowly getting better.

I really like to make things, as I do in RL, just love to be creative. So I try to focus on all skills as much as I can.

The only skill I have hardly worked at is summoning, that still is at level 1, just wanted to get a list of skills without a 0 in it.

So, yep, I wanted to be an all-rounder right from the start, that's why I like this game. And slowly I'm getting somewhere ........

See you,

Obviously I didn't know about all the different skills in EL when I started, but it really is what keeps me playing.

Alc and potions primarily, all in support of fighting. Problem is magic is only useful up to a point.

Oh no, it's not.

ICTPR is very usefull.

Same mana drain when once you are going to train chims.

And good to have a level where they never fail.

I made same mistake.

Yeah those spells are certainly useful, but EL need more spells like those found in classic DnD. Ones like ensnare, increased movement, night vision...That kinda thing would make magic much more popular.

In a previous game I had played I was a crafter, fighter(ish), and caster, It was simply the most beloved characture I had ever played :(

Let's see, when I started I wanted to learn to eat :icon13: Ok when I started I wanted to learn everything, and pass it on. And to find the most efficient methods.

I had a head start in that I made money by making FEs which didn't fail back in those days, which I enjoyed using to light the fire on IP and teach others to. I used my first earnings to buy the sigils for my first two spells and started healing others and teaching them to eat as soon as I could.

From then I wanted to be an Alchemist/Mage and would remote heal myself instead of heal as it gave more HP per mana. But ofcourse to have mana I needed to make mana potions. I had already done most the quests by then, so my first potions had been minor healing potions for the (oh yeah no quest spoilers)... and I could get wine cheaply too. I only really killed foxes when I had someone ask to buy them, but I soon ended up training a/d on them. I never planned on fighting more than small critters, though my goal was to fight foxes naked.

One day I got an inclination to try a goblin, I died lol. I lost most of what I had taken but I tried again anyway, and with the help of Magrass the honourable, I succeeded. And she replaced some of what I had lost. From then I wanted to watch peoples backs if they tried new things :) But also made a new goal, to be able to fight unarmed goblins naked.

The best to level was always magic though, every third level or so bringing with it a new spell. And I made my own magic essences even when I'd fail 90% of them. I even made some reason pots once I was killing skeletons, since I had been grinding the bones to reduce their emu anyway. But what put me off potioning for a long time was after reading feast potions book. Just not worth it at that level. Training monsters I would cast shield spell also to survive better.

I travelled to c2 at an early EL age, and wanted to someday make c2 rings. Still haven't done that one, but now I can intercontinental teleport to portals room. Still for this reason I would eventually work on my crafting level, initially from plain silver rings for others.

I started my first summoning while mapping the WSC sewers. At that time they were unpopulated so I decided to populate them with my own rats.

What other skills are there? Oh well manufacturing I had to do for some god quests and it was painful, but also made my own leather gloves I would give to newbies to start them off. Then the other leather things came.

Engineering started when I was first on the scene of the new engineering skill book seller. Some of the books were cheap enough (thanks to some nice offers of loans) so I started on those.

Looks like it's a long story, so to cut it short. I can now kill all orcs and goblins, cast every spell, make every essence and all basic bars, most the potions upto magic potion, most armours before iron plate, most swords before titanium serp, can make some c1 tele rings, summon wolves at 50% lost ingredients lol, make snares and oh, harvest stuff. Well looks like I'm now an allrounder? I still spend most my time Alching/Casting. :D Will always be an elf-mage. Keep your pay to play races :)

When I started all i cared about was the fastest method of making gc's, so i tried my hand at everything and came to the conclusion that lvl'ing a/d for exp to get a big EMU, and harvesting/alching is the fastest way to do so.

Aside from that I always wanted to be a fighter, summoner and manufacturer (blacksmith)... but summoning became a bit tedious, and manu became needless after awhile, since I came into a guild with someone who has a very high manu lvl, and could make anything I wanted/needed (*cough* CelticLady *cough* ).

Now all i do is train a/d, harv iron for gc, and alch every now and then when i need tele/Manadrain/PK essences. I stopped making my own HE's since harving iron is a faster way to get them. :omg:

I always wanted to be an all-rounder. Yay, self-sufficiency!

I'm so obsessed with being in character in EL that I picked my skills based on Peino's lifestyle, regardless of how it would affect leveling. So, Peino is a traveling sea elf and a free trader. All the time he spends at sea, and exploring foreign lands, he has to be able to support all his needs himself, just in case. So I trained manu, craft, engineering, potion, and alchemy. But I only do what Peino absolutely needs to live on/with -- leathers, aug leathers, thread, rope (for rigging the boats, don'cha know), all the healing and mana potions, and all the essences and some iron and steel bars. A sailor won't need much more than that, so if Peino wants heavier armor, etc, he'll buy it with the gc he makes from all the raw materials he trades -- so I leveled harvest a lot.

Also as an explorer, trader, and (not very devout) servant of Aluwen, Peino needs to fight, so I train a/d and magic (what's an elf without magic, I ask you), but I use little armor because I figured a sailor wouldn't have much liking for things that would make him sink real fast if he fell overboard. And I tend to stick with weapons that have an "elfen" style to them -- swords, staffs, spears when I can use/afford them, and archery eventually.

The only skill I have at zero is summoning because Peino is the enemy of Selain and would never use that Evil Magic . So one of these days, I'll have to get rid of the 2 animal nexuses I took when I was new.

I've not been planning to be an all-rounder and I'm still not (crafting waiting :S). There's only one reason to start a new skill from time to time - BOREDOM. Grinding at some points becomes a real pain in the arse and there's a need for something new.

Other than this, there are no other reasons for me to become all-rounder.

Me, I started playing, and back then, like all noobs, I had no idea what to do and how to do it so.... I obviousley attacked cute lil bunny rabbits, found ot how to harvest... and this was good for a time, then found out how to explore.. went to WS and had a look at night, when the garg preyd. I came across a bag with mining and essence books in it, there was also a mm cape so I do not know why the person did not wear it to die, beig a noob again I did not know to ask for the owner and it was mine lol (I do not do this now though) so went off and started to make the items :D I started to love the game because it does not have the restrictions of class, one day I could come in and be a warrior, the next I could be a miner and so on, this apield to me because I do love making things and being able to do everything :) I am hopeing to catch up with the game at some point, and play to make at least one of each item in the game (Personal goal) so in a sence after I figured out how to play EL I wanted to be an all rounder

as long as you just focus on one skill at a time and have a good alch or a/d to pay for it. it isnt that hard to get to at least 40 in any skill

Yep.. I always wanted to be an all arounder.

The reason for this is that I tend to play games for long periods of time. Years, if I can. It makes no sense to me to spend lots of time building up a character if I'm not going to stick with it, and once I have a character built up, it makes no sense to casually stop playing.. lol

Looking into EL, and the way the game is set up.. frankly, without being an all arounder, I'm going to either 1) run out of things to do, or 2) wind up doing so much of 1 or 2 things that it'll drive me bonkers. So I figure that if I do everything, I get a good mix of experiences, and am thus able to enjoy the game in more of its aspects.

I figured I have absolutely zero attention span so the idea of investing time/energy into a single skill and becoming competant in that one skill just wouldnt work. So I decided to be mildly incompetetant in all of them instead.

All arounding keeps a man sane. If you're bored/upset/exhausted of one skill, simply switching to another keeps the character going. That's the way I play.

I find being an all-rounder definintely helps me stay interested. I even sink money into some of the money-pit skills even though I'm not really high-level enough to have money to burn.

It also comes in nice on certain #days if I keep a wide stash of stuff at store. No-harvest days are no big deal when there are tons of stuff to mix or if you're ready to train a/d. Peace day becomes a great day to visit TD.

Sure, if I put all my PPs towards one skill I'd do far better in it. Having ~30PP in nexus definitely slows you down. However, I don't come home from work to be a muling machine, or a fighting machine, or a potting machine, or whatever... :)

when i first started, i wanted to be a well rounded player for sure. i just wanted to be self sustainable, to be able to manufacture everything for myself and not to have to rely on anyone. recently, like a week ago, i got a little obsessed with money making, and i realize that this game, along with basically all MMOs cannot be played by yourself. the natural order of things is to rely on others to progress yourself. now, i am somewhat self sufficient in making my money, i make HEs and sell them, use potion of feasting from Mira. i recently bought a CoL, which i wouldn't have been able to get, because my crafting is bad. so, instead of being self reliant and making everything on my own, im developing a few skills very well, and getting items i want from people that can make them well. the way things should be =]

I have had a couple different characters in my time with EL, though only ever one at a time. I decided this time around I would work an all-rounder because it always gave me options of what to work on now. Certainly, I have not gained many levels in a number of the skills as I'm still primarily an alchemist, but at the same time I've made sure to sink time, money, and pick points into just about everything but summoning on a frequent basis. (The reason I don't do summoning all that often is simply that, for the time being, my collection of bones goes toward potions.)

The nice thing about doing an all-rounder is that, while it takes a while to reach the point, you can eventually have a character that can be almost completely self-sustaining - your own threads, for example, along with fire essences and bars being used for your own armour to help you level up against baddies, which also boosts your manufacturing so you don't have to buy mortar & pestles for working on potions, so on and so forth.
