Don't have ~/.elc/main/el.ini You must have, the client would not run at all without that file. The "~/" part is the same as the top of the current users home directory, i.e. equivalent to $HOME. Are you sure you are not looking for the file while logged in as another user or as the root user? Edit: Since reinstalling ubuntu, did you reinstall the EL packages? Did you run the client from the menu icon? Doing this will set-up the ~/.elc/ directory tree with valid files. Then you can make the "#use_animation_program= 0" edit. This thread has been going so long I forgot what we're already tried.... - Do the login screen and the rules window display correctly? - A wild shot; that screen shot looks like fog, can you try disabling "Render Fog" in the Settings/options window details tab. - In fact, did you try enabling the "poor man" option in that in that details tab yet?
