thgilsrooc Report post Posted March 7, 2010 Hey guys, based on your experiences, how high above a recommended level should you be where you can expect to have less than 25% crit failures? So for instance, if you want to combine the ingredients for 20 HE's, what level can you expect to be where you can yield more than 15?
Raytray Report post Posted March 7, 2010 If you have astro, it depends on that as well. In my opinion, go for at least 15+ levels before trying something. Unless it's manu/tailoring, in which case. 5 below is fine.
Theryndan Report post Posted March 7, 2010 According to a mix of math, guessing, and experience, I think that you'll make 75% of your HEs when you are exactly at the recommended level, but you'll use 150% of the food needed; so: - 40 silver + 20 chrysantemums (materials for 20 HEs) - you'll end with 15 HEs - you'll use 240 food points (if you are wondering why 150% of the food, remember that when you have a non-crit failure you lose the food but can try to mix again). This is ignoring the effect of astrology.
Ermabwed Report post Posted March 7, 2010 I did some math a while back and put together a little something on the wiki: "Probability guide" Even though it's far from perfect, it answers the common questions... but possibly in ways that require one to use one's brain
thgilsrooc Report post Posted March 7, 2010 (edited) Astrology eh? Huh that's great... Edited... Astrology is no longer an issue. For the sake of continued data, I've created a blog for the purpose of posting raw data on mixes. I'm going to work pots, alch, crafting, and manu. I'll display levels, food eating, crits, and fails in the order they happen. I'll post a message with the URL when I've posted the results from the first project (potion of spirit restoration).
