engineering market

Recommended Posts

Dear colleagues engineers, :)

do anyone of you have few options, which items from engineering are best-sellers nowadays? Is it worth to sell anything?

I am trying to level up little bit (currently on 35) and I was thinking I can train on something I can sell later.

I know this skill is quite costly and especially the experience gained will not cover ingredients cost.

Indicators are great, but not many buyers for adequate price.

Getting to arrows range, but with feather needed to collect, it's hard to make larger bunch of them in one time (and selling them for few gc is madness, better to shoot them all!).

So I was thinking about saltpeter, than maybe blackpowder - are the mines or caltrops selling good as well?

I think these items will be the best for making some profit as I am getting all ingreds by myself. Hard work, but any engineering exps are welcome.

What do you think?

If you find a 'real' market for any engineering item - let me know! :)

Seriously, other than said PK arrows and bolts - I doubt you'll find much of a market for anything other than a few caltrops, mines, indicators and saltpetre (but that is very limited). Levelling engineering is harving a crapload of turq and collecting bones and making indicators and selling to NPC. As exciting as reading this 'advice'. Good luck - and with any real luck, maybe a 'some-what' profitable new item may come into the game in the near future.

thanks Xena for response! you are right, it's hard - that's why I was asking ;) Not many active engineers here I see, so it seems I can start preparing for the old plan - tons of iron bars and essies and gathering feathers and yew :P

and what with all that 5k of saltpetre lol ... oh yeah, time will show - I can sell it slowly anytime :)

I concur with XenaMT on this. One of the best ways is indicators (especially the frist couple indicators that take the least amount of ings.)

That being said, I think some small adjustment on the vendor prices for indicators/predictors could stimulate the market for them. People want them, they just don't want to pay what they're worth when they can go to the NPC and pay less than anyone can make them for (espeically for the ones that cost way more to make than the vendor is selling them for -- like the ones that use gems on top of everything else.)

With the changes to invasions, and suggestions radu's made about using mines/caltrops as a good method of dealing with them, there might be a growing demand for those items (I haven't researched it enough to know for sure but I suspect so.)

My experience with arrows is that only the 'advanced' archers want player made arrows as until they get to that point, it's not worth the gc cost of wasting arrows (with all the missing...) when you can just buy training arrows for 10gc each and pluck away knowing you're saving nearly 30gc an arrow. A slightly off-topic footnote on this: it might be nice if these were listed under engineering as well as archery (in the encyclopedia,) since it requires engineering to make them...

In my opinion, engineering certainly has wonderful uses and some demand. I think some minor changes (that radu appears to be addressing as time permits) will stimulate the demands for these items. There are also uses for the items you make, for yourself, if you can't find someone to buy them right away ;) I wouldn't even consider making "stoof" with expensive tools without checking my breakage astro first...

I have turned some EWE into ice arrows, and the sell at about the same price as npc. But this is only when I have the ingreds to spare on them

good idea, I was considering these when I will be high enough in the skill - as I have no use for my EWEs made when crafting leveling ... oh yes, I used first for my fresh shiny arrow/bolt head mold :P

@DogBreath:

Agreed, best I can do now is continue with indicators while preparing stuff and reading books for arrows.

I like engineering for what you said - I am using some products by myself as well - and it's good to be able make them!

Hopefully there are another opportunities for us waiting behind the corner in Radu's plans :D

Happy mixing!

If it helps I will I buy PK arrows & bolts for 35 each (see Zartob in evtr) I know that this is not break even -but at least better than selling to npc.

Am I the only one who has noticed an engineering item that is profitable? If the data in CEL is correct - there is one

I am not in game atm so cannot check

Well you can make harvest indicators with a profit if you harvest turq yourself and buy ropes from gen store and bones from players. I made eng 37 mostly with harvest indicators and making a little profit.

Sorry for restoring my old thread - but why starting new one with the same topic?

- we have now daily which burns a lot of nails, bars, essies, blackpowder or finished items lying in the storages

- we have now Alfred Nobel Day (thank teH g0d for this one! but why it came after my power leveling when I mixed all I had haha :pirate: )

- we can now mix/sell Point Defense for PKers, is it used?

Not saying I want to produce quest items for sale, I think there are much easier ways to earn nice gc. I managed it to level I am satisfied with, can make items I need without huge fails and can continue level slowly thanks to the daily quests. I am just curious what's your opinion about engineering market now, after the changes :lurker:

Is it even worth the hard work?

I've really just started leveling engineering (mid-20s)...curious to see how things work out. It does sound like there's at least a better chance that ENG will be a slight money-maker...maybe...
