Sound issues debian squeeze

I ran the game a few days and decided to play awhile. next logical step is sound. i downloaded the sound package and unziped it to my game folder as per the insturstions .

my folder is chris/desktop/games/el_linux/sound. when i open the tools/options panel under sound i have no mixer showing up. im using Gnome ASLA mixer. any help appricated.

Not sure I understand your question, but if you are referring to the 'sound device' under audio in the EL options, you don't need to have anything there.

Make sure the directory with the ogg files is /el_linux/sound and not /el_linux/sound/sound

Check the 'enable sound effects' checkbox in options -> audio

You should now hear noises (fighting, walking, crowds ...)

You could also try using my Debian packages http://twinmoons.org.uk/debian/. These are built on a Debian squeeze system and use dynamic linking so should have better compatibility. I also built the standard version you downloaded but that is mostly statically linked and built on Ubuntu 8.04.

Trying installing the oss-compat package.

 

That fixed it :) installed the oss-compat packages and i now have sound. thanks :)

I'm running Fedora 14 and have no sound to how can I install th oss-compat package to fix this.
