Serious lag and graphical problems

Recommended Posts

right i have a fairly highspec sony vaio netbook running ubuntu.

i can play eternal lands on it however i have seriously low fps (10fps is about as high as it will go and even that is rare) and all of the player models dont have texturse or anything and when they do have textures they are all in the wrong place.

for example early the face texture for my character was on his arse. then later on the hair texture was on his chest.

this is the netbook i have http://www.sony.co.uk/product/vn-m-series/vpcm13m1e-p

the processor is 1.83 and it has 1gb of ram. the graphics hardware is: Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 3150 with approx 250MB* graphics memory.

is it simply that my netbook cant handle it or there is some strange problem with the hardware?

any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

cheers barney

Try enabling the "Poor Man" option from the "Details" tab of the options window. That should increase your fps at the expense of some effects. For the texture issues, try turning off the "Use animation program" option on the "Adv Video" tab.

wow excellent the textures are fine now. the fps has been increased by about 5 frames at its best. any other ideas to boost the fps or am i just running it on a system that cant handle it?

That's about right for a netbook w/those specs, although you might be able to get 10+ more fps by tweaking options, such as view distance, perspective and or sky options if you have them enabled.
