S2E project

Recommended Posts

planning on doing a S2E project (been a few years since I was in game)

I am planning on making 300 S2E to sell, or I may use myself....ehh depends where I am when I finish

anyway, couple of questions

not sure if this one is appropriate here

but to alch the steel and iron bars what lvl alchemy is recommended?, I know this can be subjective but I was wondering if people feel having a certain lvl, I am thinking 32 but higher would be better?

and also for manufacturing the swords what would be the recommended level for this as well?

and a last question is it generally faster/better to drag stuff to iron deposits to make or storage it all with a mule?

only ask that all as thinking might be better for me to get all materials together into storage due to me usually watching a movie or something while harvesting.

sorry to sound long winded but any help would be appreciated.

Semi afk iron harvesters might as well go to EVTR if you know the special spot.

NC sto and WS garg cave for coal.

Sound warnings for "you stopped harvesting" is recommended.

Bars should probably start getting good starting at alch 40-50.

A skilled mixer can watch a movie and mix at the same time. Harvest event sounds help some.

S2E have been so easy for me for such a long time that I can only say at least 10 above recommended.

Mixing on site may be slower for some and take too much concentration for some, but it will use less food too.

yeap thanks for that

main reason why I afk is I sit on other games like bf3 or watch a mvoie etc

but mixing on site is diffently faster? and if you dont mind I just take the pots to the spot?

edit: oh and you mean making bars or the s2e at site?

The bars only.

You can do the S2E on site too but it requires more planning and you don't gain that much.

Mixing on site uses a bit less food (e.g. fruit instead of toads/bones), but definitely a lot less muling of iron ore.

You may want to check out one of the "well-known" iron/coal caves, too.

Mixing S2E : you'd best have 15-20 manu levels above recommended but you don't have to do it on your own, some manuers would trade your ings+food for S2E just for the mixing XP.

I make both the bars and the s2e on site. I have a bot in the mine which makes things much more efficient for me. I doubt many people make much more than 50 bars per run to the mine. That would only be 3 S2E worth.

There are some locations that have more than just iron ore. Melinis is an example (safe inside, but dangerous outside). Maybe Idaloran mines (dangerous). IotF has a number of ingredients around, if you know where to look, but that will require a bit of hauling and having possibly unattended bags. Since you say you plan on AFKing a bit, I would not recommend IotF for you.

Here is a trick you might be able to pull off. Harvest iron ore and sulfur and bones in EVTR. There are roses and snaps on the map too (or you could get those in VotD, but really the snaps seem closer in EVTR) so you can mix at sto (during the daytime unless you wanna be eaten by Lenny). Trade some of your sulfur and bones to someone for coal since they have the same basic value. You can mix in the tavern at night and can even buy cooked meat there if you find it worth it.

When it comes time to make the S2E, you can ask someone else to make them for you. I can do it if you like. I'm 52 levels over recommended (level 80 vs 28 recommended).

Even if you are below recommended for the bars, making them is probably a good idea since you get a lot of alch xp from them and it will help you level your alch. For the S2Es, crit fails cost you a lot more, so the xp isn't worth the losses at lower manu levels.

I got the manu god, so that i can take ingreds to the god and make the s2e-s there. Blessing is only 25 gc, quickly earned back :)

I could also mix the S2E, if you want. Top 20 manu. Higher than Quesar in manu. I risk mix for food. Of course, you will find many people that will do good enough of a job.

By the way, just what is your emu capacity?

This is the way I make the bars:

FE: I make those in the cave in Melinis (all ingredients in 1 cave) and the cave is located within the safety of the city, so no Lenny problems if you teleport to there. You could get jumped when you move the flowers towards the sulfur, but how much do you really loose then?

I harvest coal when I am semi afk (harvest alarm really helps here). I do this mostly in DP crystal caverns because most of the walk can be done AFK.

I take fe, feasting pots and coal in mule form to an iron spot (no preference here cause I won't walk that much). Here I harv iron ore and mix everytime when my foodlevel is 26+ and fruit cooldown is gone (just saves cash on feasting pots/bones). When I have enough ore to mix the rest, I'll switch to fp's and mix up.

I do 90 bars per run (mulelevel =6) and some 150 ore extra.

Hope it helps.

I make FE the same way as Donc, but then take fe and food to iron/coal in Isca mine (with yeti, but they ignore me). I make 200 steel bars per run (no mule needed) or 250 iron. At lower levels I had the MM perk, I found that useful as a mixer/harvester. I leveled a/d to 100/100 with MM perk, then took it off and now everything that ignored me with MM ignored me anyways. An MM removal stone is cheaper than an MM cape these days :P

I pretty much mix everything at the mine. Not bag mix, but inventory mix. This way I don't get bag jumped (or if I do, it's just petty amounts of flowers or the ore/mineral I am harvesting anyway)

I mix 400 HEs (in MM), 290 MagEs (in catacombs), 50 Steel bars (Catacombs), 350 FEs (Crystal Caverns, beam when I am finished), and 240 Earth Ess (any coal location is good).

This is faster for me, I have 780 emu, so I usually get a decent amount mixed and get to haul back iron, coal, emeralds, sulfur, and silver back to storage, then I can mix what I got at the mine at storage, or save for a green day.

Doing all these (except HEs/MagEs) makes it possible where I never have to MULE ore/mineral to storage, just start with the FE flowers, and work your way around. Of course that's only if you mix the above things (earth, and steel) :D

I use potions and bones as food, but all my calculations are from 55 food points (even though I get 60 food from fp/bone at -5 food level), I price food points at 0.3gc each (so 3.6gc food cost for steel bar) this way I never lose gc when I plan mixing projects.

Fp weight is measured by 0.2 emu per food point(2.4 emu per steel bar you wish to make), this allows a TAD extra room for the first initial harvests at the mine.

For Steel bars: Start with 2.4, Add 10 emu per bar for coal, and 3 more emu for the needed fe per bar. Divide this number into the remaining emu you have after getting your needed picks, cape, armor, and fruit. This number is the amount of Steel bars you can make at the mine. Load your inv with the needed fe, and coal, then, multiply the steel bar amount you're going to make by 12(food cost), divide it by 45 (fp food amount given), and that's how many Fps you need. If you have enough emu, add a couple extra fp, it's always good, in case you have perk that makes you eat more.

That's how I do it, you can make a bunch load of stuff and gc this way.

my fav place to make bars is Zirakgunda Underground. all the ings in one place. I can shorten the process by hauling FE to the mine instead of making them onsite.

EMU is 600 for vert and 320 for sable

I use meat and bones, or meat and toads for food.

for either character I can end up with 100 bars in about an hour. a bit faster for vert, a bit slower for sable.
