Hi,

I am having problem connecting to EL server

i am using:

#server_address = 192.99.21.222
#server_port = 2000
i also used
#server_address = game.eternal-lands.com
#server_port = 2000
get message - disconnected from server
- have checked ports - all is working
the game was working on these settings before (last time played around Jan-2015)
Can connect to PK server.
pinged (ping game.eternal-lands.com) - sending and receiving all packets
using windows 7, location poland.
laptop with WIFI, connected to private MIFI, connected via 3G - ISP- "PLAY"

pretty certain port 2000 is blocked...

Either that or the IP you use is blocked

Open a command prompt (CMD) and try

telnet game.eternal-lands.com 2000

telnet game.eternal-lands.com 2001

Chances are 2000 will not connect - but 2001 will - that's the test server.

If that's the case you need to speak to your internet provider to unblock the port or use a proxy service - eg learners - but that's chargable

Hi, nope, my ports are open, IP is dynamic so chenges from time to time.

telnet game.eternal-lands.com 2001

►♥ÉTest Server!
<˝L;
telnet game.eternal-lands.com 2000
connected - blank page, just cursor
dont know what is the issue
my ini file:
Login settings:
#server_address = game.eternal-lands.com
#server_port = 2000
Having a Username and Password defined can be a security problem. Use if you are comfortable
in people that can get to your machine knowing this information
#username = ""
#password = ""
video modes:
1 = 640x480 16bpp
2 = 640x480 32bpp
3 = 800x600 16bpp
4 = 800x600 32bpp
5 = 1024x768 16bpp
6 = 1024x768 32bpp
7 = 1152x864 16bpp
8 = 1152x864 32bpp
9 = 1280x1024 16bpp
10 = 1280x1024 32bpp
full screen can be 0 (windowed) or 1 (full screen)
if it is windowed, it will use the desktop BPP
#video_mode= 6
#full_screen= 0

Hmmm

When I do it - I get

G♥ÉWelcome to the new server! Please report any problems on channel 6.

So whatever you are connecting to it is not EL!

ping shows IP for game server as 192.99.21.222

When I use telnet I get the same result as Raz, seems you are not connecting to the game server

I think there are websites (easily googled) to test if port x is working correctly. I would call your isp... I've heard of that port being blocked before, IIRC, by a university.
I have the same result as maxine and raz, server is at 192.99.21.222, ping is ~60ms (not in Europe). Good luck.

Could you provide a traceroute to game.eternal-lands.com?
That perhaps would show where things run off the rails.

FYI, I get the typical message for banned IP:
> telnet 192.99.21.222 2000
Trying 192.99.21.222...
Connected to 192.99.21.222.
Escape character is '^]'.
Your IP is banned. That means that you, or someone from your IP did something very nasty, so we had to block this IP address. If you believe this ban was unjustified, or promise to respect the rules from now on, please post in the Bans section of our forums (on www.eternal-lands.com)
GWelcome to the new server! Please report any problems on channel 6.

Connection closed by foreign host.

So if you get nothing, it looks like the problem is somewhere between you and the game server.

One thing you could try:
add a line to your servers.lst file:

eu-main main eu.other-life.com 2001 Learner eu proxy

then start EL with "eu-main" as server name (as if you want to connect to the test server, but replace the "test" by "eu-main")
Note that the port 2001 in that line is not a typo!

This will use Learner's European proxy, providing a different path to the server.
Unfortunately, unless things have changed, that proxy could shut down at the end of the month

(Oh, and btw: don't be so quick to say "my ports are open": your firewall/router/whatever may have all outgoing ports open,
but that's only the start. Your connections pass through several routers under your ISP's control, each of which can have port 2000 closed...
And note that there's no reason to have any incoming ports open on your end, EL doesn' initiate connections)
