One Ranging Perk

Recommended Posts

For those of you with only one ranging perk, which one do you have, and why?

I know this has been discussed, but I'm looking for some current opinions in relationship to the frequent invasions, invances, instances, etc.

Only took ER because it looked like the more useful one for me. I don't range to much, but when i do its to train or for invance/instances, and the price of ammo convinced me into getting ER

If you want to range in instances, ER is a must have because it'll lower the emu needed as well as the cost.

I used to have WH perk since almost the beginning and decided to remove it to get some PPs back when I was around 55 in ranging. I then discovered that it was a HUGE help. WH is really a great perk so if you want be a dedicated ranger, I'll recommand you to take both perks.

The first to take when ranging is ER, it will have you shoot more for less emu which is needed in invasion/instances/invances and has the benefit of cheaper training.

+1

One remark, when reaching high level of ranging you can remove WH (like I did), 5 PPs is a lot. That's my opinion.

At what levels is WH a big help and at from what point does it become less valuable?

WH is helpful from the beginning, but if you have to chose between WH and ER, take ER.

WH is always valuable, but after level 60 of ranging your damage and accuracy is on decent level even without it.

That’s my opinion.

Thank you everyone for the response. A couple of follow up ideas.

I definitely understand the ER perk and it's benefit for instances. Having rangers with ER can be the difference between finishing or not, and also making a profit or taking a loss. However I'm not sure about ER being worth the pps in regards to gc savings. Assuming each pp is worth 1.5 mil gc that's ~215K pk arrows. I also think the gc savings of WH are being overlooked. With 15% bonus to xp there's a 15% gc savings. Also with the performance improvements you don't need as high of a level ex: a level 40 ranger with WH performs at the same level accuracy and damage wise as a level 45 ranger without WH, so there is some additional gc savings there.

edit: I meant each pp 1.5mil gc not xp

True for ER, it's mainly useful for instances like you said. Note that with it, you can shoot almost 150 arrows with only 100 in your inventory, which is a great help.

For WH, I think you're omitting the most important part which is the 'your ranged weapons are considerably more accurate'.

According to my experience, it offers much more than 5 ranging levels, it's at least 10 levels, maybe more...

Actually ER lets you shoot about ~43% of arrows more. Lets look at 100 arrows.

First you will have additional 30 arrows left, of those you keep 9, then 3, then 1.

So you shoot 143 arrows from an initial stock of 100.

Be carefull: The 15% more xp you get from WH is more then eaten with the more accuracy. Means you don't get more xp in the end!

(It is even less xp/shoot if you take WH in the end).

If u want to have 1 ranging perk its gonna be ER, simple cause its the cheapest way to level.

As for WH . it shows how dedicated ranger u are. If u are low level difference is not great, but as u level the damage is getting higher and higher, meaning easier kills, easier farming... also WH helps a lot if u are using fire / ice arrows that damage is higher and acc negative

hmm...not for me...i had a day where i saved only 20% or a bit less...

ER gives 30% chance not to loose ammo when you shoot...so it can save 0% to 100% ammo

depends, like nearly all in EL, on luck too ;)

Thank you andy I didn't realize WH resulted in net less xp.

hmmm...i would say the xp bonus negates the xp loss from the acc bonus,

but with the acc bonus you hit more often , so at end more xp out of same numbers of shoots :)

special on low levels..

and damage bonus helps to kill with less ammo, so the ammo/gc ratio can be better

not shure about the acc bonus effect on crit hits
