bows damage

Recommended Posts

I wonder what is the damage for different bows. It doesn't seem to be level/attribute dependent. I have 2 of them and here's what i get

Long bow: 11-16 damage

Elven bow: 17-20+ damage

Edit: i am talking about the damage with training arrows

I believe max damage dealt with particular weapon and arrow/bolt type rises very slowly with your levels. IIRC, few levels ago my max damage with xbow and training bolts was 18, now it is 21.

These seem more like a question for Entropy and he may not want to answer it for various reasons.

What determines whether a creature takes damage? I would assume the creatures toughness and armor, but does the type of arrow and bow have influence? I assume that the magic, ice and fire arrows cause their respective special damage, but what about normal damage?

I am asking because I have been hunting cockatrice in Willowvine and critical hits are the only thing that cause damage. I still get experience for hits that do no damage (toughness/armor negating damage?). I am using a recurve bow and training arrows.

Has anyone tried PK or magical arrows or other bows/crossbows enough against tougher creatures to see anything different from me?

Cockatrices are though and have a big ass armor so only critical hits get through. (I do occasionally hit them for 1-2 damage with the elven bow.)

With Pk arrows and other you can always damage them.

It's like with phantom warriors if you got a weapon with high damage like halberd you get trough the armor else you have to rely on critical hits.

Thanks for the input :o

I don't mind not doing damage each shot with training arrows. I get to learn proper distances to shoot and not get attacked and maximum effective range guestimating. The only drawback is when you run out of arrows and the damn chicken has only 5 health left :omg:

It's also level dependent I think. At low ranged levels I couldn't hit orcs as well as I can at level 29. And of course, as mentioned before, PK arrows do way more damage than training arrows do (killed a forest chim with pk arrows in 5 hits :) ^^ )

As for the other items that influence ranging, we have only potions and nightvisors at this time.
