Make EVTR Great Again (for invasions)

Recommended Posts

EVTR has a great potential as an invasion map... if only it was multicombat. Can we make it multicombat, please?

Critters: "Trainable" aggressives on that map are very low-level (gargs, fem gobs), and are much more easily trained on other maps even if EVTR were a multi map. And they're decently spread out from what I can tell so multi training would be difficult.

The Map: Map itself has nothing that would be affected if it were multi (no PK arenas or such).

Future: There are no major changes to that map coming in 1.9.5, so no surprises.

Conclusion: I personally think it would be fine to be multi.

Just needs Radu's approval... I have to get higher approval to make map changes that heavily affect gameplay.

I think most of the c2 maps should be multi. c2 was never meant to be a safe place.

Most of C2 maps ARE multi.

Nope. Most outside maps are multi, but those are a minority of the C2 maps (as most have sub maps, often two or more). And as most invasion tactics involving multiple players don't work on SC maps; that does limit invasion possibilities.

Most of C2 maps ARE multi.

Tech you are right, but we have PV, Zira, Glac, and Airius. These maps have great potential for invasions and they are SC.

I guess if all you are interested in is invasions which last multiple game days that makes sense.

I can't follow your reasoning, would you please explain why you think that this is only interesting for multi-day invasions?

Not all invasions have to be through one of the portal maps.

PV is multi since 1.9.4 client release.

My invasions never last that long. I hate it when they inconvenience me, so I try not to do that to others. If you notice I try to make most of invasions in AA, it has no dailies other than turning in cycs and that can be done invis.

Its much easier to clear multi maps than single combat maps so odds are it would get cleared faster

Both has own advantages. Sometimes single map is very good when you fight alone high target, for example if i solo dragon, i dont want other monsters same time on me, dragon is enough alone, and there is not always team available. Multimaps are good, but single maps give different kind of challence, they are some way harder, some way easier in invasions, and they ask different tactics. if all maps were multi, that would make invasions more boring.

I agree with Little. I will go to single combat maps first and clear except maybe for bosses to allow easy access to outside storage.

Expanding on this...

Why not make it possible for radu/invasion master to switch any map's attack mode to or from multi-target?

Single combat bethel invasion, sure.

Multi combat EVTR invasion, also sure.

Obviously it wouldn't have to be used, so you could still have a multi-bethel and single EVTR.

Would be neat if it defaulted back to whatever 'normal' is automatically after #il = 0. Then you wouldn't need a major client update to switch from single to multi...

A change like multi<->single combat won't need a client update, just a server restart.

Making that a mod-operatable switch would require a few server changes though (so a real server update).

And, would you really like to be in a map which suddenly changes from SC to MC? Or vice versa,

what happens when you are quietly training on your multi DCWs and someone decides to make the map SC?

Revi, I'm assuming the command to switch single/multi would be used in similar fashion to invasion currently... meaning, with blue spam warnings, or simply accompanying invasions so you're not sure if you're running into a multi or single invasion despite what map it's on.

Also, I guess I misunderstood burn's meaning above about what flavor update being necessary for the change.

*back on subject*

EVTR will be multi-combat with the next client release, approved by radu.

(And yeah, single/multi for a map can be changed on a server update, no client update necessary. My mind is just on getting that client update out soon. This particular change will come with the client, which will hopefully see a Summer release.)

Can we have an official list of what maps are multi and which are not? Encyclopedia is not a good answer since it is rarely up to date. I'd like a command which you could use at location which tells you what map or submap is.

While waiting for such a list, you can get an idea by attacking the creature you're fighting with again.

The reply will indicate if the (area of the) map is multicombat
