Great Sword Demand

Recommended Posts

I've finally reached the point when I feel I can safely start manufacturing some of what I've heard called "Great Swords" (Claymore, Rapier, Orc Slayer, etc.). I want to start doing this, at least until I can get my magic nexus to the point where I can make the glowy swords.

All that said, the ings for these swords are so costly that I can't justify (yet) keeping a finished product inventory; I can barely afford to keep a work-in-progress inventory of the necessary bars. So what I'm wondering is, which of these swords are most likely to sell? Is there even an substantial demand for them, or are they all made to order?

You can sell to the NPC in EVTR. He buy for 20k.

And you can hope to make some rare.

I make only for own use, never sold many - too many manuers.

Since the introduction of the attribute cap, the Cutlass has severely dropped in popularity due to no one having over 48 Might... The Cutty simply doesn't do enough damage.

The Eagle Wing, Emerald Claymore, Sunbreaker and Rapier have never been overly popular swords. They had a few specific uses, but your average PK'er who's just after a solid weapon isn't buying any of these. (Although, i think the Emerald Claymore's usefulness in PK needs to be re-tested, it's near JS accuracy and damage along with a small def bonus and decent crit bonuses could work out quite well now).

The Orc Slayer is now a very popular choice when fighting people weaker than you (although, it always has been), and would probably sell well enough.

But the all-round general best choice for any PK'er, now after the cap, would have to be the Jagged Sabre.

Enough Damage to compensate for peoples now low Might and some opponent's higher Toughness.

Enough accuracy to land hits on people around your level or slightly stronger.

Most people i see in PK nowdays are using a JS. It's certainly the weapon i'm using when i fight a fairly evenly matched opponent.

That Being Said, For us with lower stats, I prefer the rapier these days. Since I am usuly fighting much stronger people, I depend a lot on the critacls, and my mirror cloak

Hiya,

For me, Cutty should be used only while killing stronger monsters. like for my levels, i use cutty to kill yetis or AC's.

For PK, the most useful glowing sword is JS ofc. +10 accuracy bonus is alot. Even with acc/eva/a/d/p/c pots, u can easily kill people +10 a/d over you.

Thats my thoughts Cya :D

my idea is the same as other who posted above me , Jagged saber is best great sword ingame, i only used 1 great sword since i got peach and it was jagged saber ( never broke ;) ) although i used like 2 or 3 times cotm or osmn ( i dont consider them as great swords ) :D

JS is the best weapon in game :D

Yes, if your only going to own one Great Sword...Jagged Saber is the way to go..But if you plan a bit, some of the others have certain advatages.

yes of course, take for example rapier, good for ppl you can't normally hit coz of critital to hit, orc slayer for weaker ppl so u hit them very hard... but jagged saber is the best all around weapon accessible at low cost :D

Having started making the great swords and various other items of high end armor , I would recommend that you dont look at this manufacturing as a way to make GC , or even hope to sell your products within a week of making them.

Instead If i were you I would use manufacturing these items as a nice side job, a bonus ability if you will ( somethings thats VERY usefull for you and your guild ) , but instead remember that your never going to make much money from it and so keep other skills going to - so you can make some GC to pay for making armors etc.

I dont think theres many people in EL who can solely make all thier gc from manuing.

Have fun making the swords and armors though !! Feels great to mix your first ones !

Oh, I don't consider manufacturing as a primary way to make gc. I would just like what I do make to be useful to players' gaming. And, well, I can't make the useful stuff very quickly if I have hundreds of thousands of gc tied up in the ingredients used to make gear that will never be used.

Now, if only we could put an artisan's stamp somewhere on the gear we make and track its life through the game.

Anyway, thanks everyone for your input! The JS book is now read.

I have been manuing for a long time, and from my history, the most common sword bought from me, or made by me was the Rapier, i have only ever made 1 Js, lots of cutlasses, which i use to train, on tuffer monsters for the accuracy and not the big hits to make it last a little longer...

I used to make enough great swords for people. Then people got greedy and I mainly gave up on doing business with anyone in EL.

I am considering doing business with people again, now that #ignore_bots is in place and people might hear me on the market channel.

I hope people are not still being greedy little piggies and asking for the swords under the ingreds prices or I won't make them.

Smeg like that is why I stopped manufacturing for other players in the first place.

The reasons why the ingredient price does not equal weapon/armor price has been gone over umpteen times already, and its NOT because people are little greedy piggies. Its because manufacturers made a gazillion swords and now they are worth less than the actual ingredients (which can be used for other items that people need).

Well, whatever their reason, if they ask for swords for less than sword ingreds prices, I won't make them. I suggest nobody else does either. Don't waste your money and virtually pay someone to take your hard work.

Indeed, price will change.. eventually. Only sucks they're so hard to break lol. For manuers that is.

If I recall correctly, someone was suggesting a variable break rate according to what type of creature a person fights about 4 months ago.
