nixxy4ever Report post Posted January 13, 2013 i was just wondering if there is another way to level magic other than mana drain, i life drained so many rats i dont wanna chase something else around, maybe radiation shield? im not sure, any advice?
LongMustache Report post Posted January 13, 2013 (edited) It depends what you want. Mana draining with a partner is the fastest and a cheap way to train. If you dont mind the price you can train with whichever spell with sr poth, but thx to cooldowns its very slow. If you mind the cost, then the only other money efficient way would be casting away at fr area with fr cape, but it is quite slow. Id say just find a partner and wait for a magic day and mana drain. P.s. i was loking for partner, so if you'd like we could mana drain together. I got some technical dificulties atm, but ill pm u in game thursday or wednesday if you are interested Edited January 13, 2013 by Helklo
Littlebig Report post Posted January 14, 2013 MD the bear and cast MI/shield. you get some nice drops that way to cover your essies cost, bear furs are heavy, 9 emu, and with meat and bones you get full quite fast, so the NC sto spawn is great.
Raz Report post Posted January 14, 2013 I tend to be afk a lot - to sit in fr area - then when I get back cast MI / shield then afk again - you get a bit of exp - but really - MD with a partner is the best way.
Grort Report post Posted January 14, 2013 I pretty much just cast Restoration alot, and MI is ok for training. But i have to tell you, MD is by far the quickest way, and so much easier. Its the simple truth
nixxy4ever Report post Posted January 15, 2013 drats ok thank you kindly for your input, guess i got to go poke bears
nathanstenzel Report post Posted January 15, 2013 Using magic in combat is often good xp. If you want to fight multiple critters on a multi-combat map, you can can a harm/life-drain/mana-drain on something. Casting restore always gives decent xp. When it comes to the bears, just make sure you figure something out where you remove more emu than you gain during a round. I often train summoning and magic at the same time with the help of bears. I summon boars and cast shield while doing mana drain. on bears. Once a person summons bears, they can drain their own bear and have it help them kill the real vear. dragon_killer Report post Posted January 30, 2013 Hi, i found out a way to train magic, worked well with my alt. i stopped it because now i am able to md and make better xp. I started to life drain the phantom warrior in the zirak castle. there is 3 phantom warrior. i used to ld it 30hp. so in two ld it was dead. the good thing abt pw is that he makes you small damage and has the bomb perk . that way you will stil drain his life. the money and s2e pays back the life essence and sr used. and you can always turn the bones into onr powder
Faxie Report post Posted January 31, 2013 Regular training: Train on your regular monsters and use life drain instead of restoration. If you are training on dcw/fcw use mana drain instead of sr. Powertraining: Mana Drain PVP on magic day.
Grort Report post Posted January 31, 2013 Yeah, i wondering about whether it was worth MDing chimmies for normal a/d training And how many MDs would you do them?
Faxie Report post Posted January 31, 2013 I do a bit less then 1 md per resto and drops pay for essies ...
circe Report post Posted January 31, 2013 DonC is right, regular A/D training will help a great deal with your magic training, cast shield as often as possible & MD (if possible, depending on creature) LD/Poison/harm are always handy to have with you while training, not only to catch the attention of any other spawn that may cross your path but also for the odd critter that tends to be abit subborn & refuses to give up the fight. If afkish & not doing a great deal, sit in the mud pit on IP casting shield & LD other critters (gathers you a few bones/meat/fur to be used or sold) if you use small mana pots you can gather the ingreds on the same map at Harvest Hour to replace your used pots ( added pottion/harvest xp, not a great amount but better than nothing) Already mention'd but bear spawn outside NC sto, shield/MD/LD..again used on any critter that passes by & gathering animal bits in the process. Shield/LD/Harm/Poison while fighting PWs in RoT, MD the chims there to regain your mana, the same in Zirak Castle plenty of creatures in there to do abit of bone harvesting) If you have mixing to do, mix in Naralik, MD the spiders there to replace mana after restore, ofc eating lots of shroomz will ensure you have to cast that regularly (not recommended if you have low HP) TTR/TTP/INCTPR..cast those instead of using rings (expensive if cast often). Heat/Cold/Radiation protaction, cast those instead of using armours to protect you or cast them just for the sheer fun of it & ofc my favourite, Remote Heal use your magic as often as you can, when/where ever you can & the xp/lvls will grow. All in all, Shield is probably the most common spell used to gain xp. Just a few little hints, hope it helps
saxum Report post Posted February 3, 2013 I prefer Hurquin Catacombs to Zirak Castle. More bones in Zirak but Spiders, a PW, Armed orcs and occasional skeletons work well. Bring a couple of mortars to keep weight done but rarely needed unless you get hurt too much by PW.
nathanstenzel Report post Posted February 4, 2013 Yeah, i wondering about whether it was worth MDing chimmies for normal a/d training And how many MDs would you do them? Well, FCW and DCW tend to have a good amount of mana. you might need to MD twice to get all of it. Note that MCW have no mana (if I am wrong, feel free to correct me). Faxie Report post Posted February 5, 2013 You are right nathanstenzel, mcw doesn't have mana.
Grort Report post Posted February 5, 2013 You are right nathanstenzel, mcw doesn't have mana. Right, thank you, explains why the MCW I was trying to kill last invasion wasn't giving me any TTR/TTP/INCTPR..cast those instead of using rings (expensive if cast often). TTPR is a great way to travel quick and get magic xp, especially if you know certain places it can be used to have cheaper travel (what does a set of TTPR ings cost nowadays? i think i calced it at around 88-90gc from NPC or something)
circe Report post Posted February 6, 2013 (edited) Using NPC prices... TTR..1 matter/1 energy/1 spirit essence 32 gc (L15 base xp 65) TTPR..1 matter/5 energy/1 spirit essence 76gc (L24 base xp 105) INCTPR..4 matter/10 energy/12 spirit essence 266gc (L50 base xp 220) Sorry i should have been more precise but meant expensive on essences rather than gc if you mix youself as you go through them quickly Edited February 6, 2013 by circe
nixxy4ever Report post Posted February 15, 2013 thank you for the great advice, with the help of all you and cor_scorpii from the #nu guild i reached 49 magic yay
ZootNerper Report post Posted February 16, 2013 I try never to walk around with full mana. I cast shield to use the mana. If I go do bag mix, I drain all mana before I go (as I will be an hour or more on the bag)
