Restocking bot at sto

Recommended Posts

I'm new to bot control, so have some questions regarding bot visits to storage. Twice per week it is allowed to log in and simply walk to the storage? And how can I unload/load bot there? Am I allowed simply to trade bot with may main char and transfer everything I need? And do I need any notice to anyone (Entropy for example), that I am going to travel to storage?

I am no bot expert, but pretty sure you are NOT allowed to trade the bot with your main char at storage. That would effectively be using a bot as a mule. The bot can use its own storage to store/retrieve stuff. The owner can trade the bot at the standard location only (somewhere far from storage). When the bot is going to travel under manual control, it is good to notify the moderators with a #help_me.

Can the bot trade other characters from storage tho? For instance, once it brings 10k iron to sto, it could sell it all in one batch straight from storage.

When the bot is not at it's designated spot, it can not trade with anyone! It may use it's own storage, not other peoples or trade with them at storage or any other place other their the bots approved spot.

The only place the bot can trade is where i'ts been approved to be.

Adarah is allowed 3 trips/week to restock with wine.

Nera is allowed 3 trips/week to restock with thread and leather.

Those are EXCEPTIONS from the rule, because their owners contributed to the game.

All paid bots are allowed to go to the storage 2 times/week.

So why are bots then allowed to go to storage 2 times per week, what should they do there? Say hello to everyone and spam in local chat?

Bots can use their own storage, i.e. talk to the storage NPC. That does not count as trading. They cannot trade with anyone outside of their designated spot (which has to be approved by Ent at bot registration time); when in their designated spot, they can trade with anyone (but still, cannot be used as middlemen between two alts of the same player).

And how does a bot gets stuff into his own storage?

For example, the owner of the bot wants to restock the bot with 1k iron ore, how does the iron ore gets into the bots own storage, so that it can restock from storage?

Two ways I can think of - while the bot was being leveled prior to it being an official bot, it gathered things to sell later.

It buys more than it has slots or EMUs, deposits into storage. Grabs later to sell at a higher price than it purchased at.

Characters, including bots, don't magically come with 1k iron ore in storage, or inventory. The only way a bot can receive items is via trade when in its approved location.

So, the owner or whoever will have supplied the bot with, say, iron ore, which the bot has an option to, twice a week, deposit into its own storage. if the bot needs stocking with 1k iron ore, it can either get it from its own storage, or the bot can be stocked when it is in its approved location via trade.

The reason the bot might have 1k iron ore in its own storage is because on a prior trip to storage, it deposited 1k or more iron ore. It is then, when at storage, able to retrieve this. It can't trade with anyone while outside it's approved location.

I see a lot of assumptions being made and justifications as to why that must be so. Perhaps we should wait for Entropy to provide an official ruling as to if a bot can acquire more inventory from others during the approved trips to storage?

What I was saying about the bot being able to trade only at his approved spot, and it can't at storage is what Entropy has told me in the past.

... Entropy has told me in the past.
That's the key part (unless he might change his ruling in the future).

Considering the Bots that are in mines or near good harvest areas ... I don't think this will be changing or there will be major bot muling abuse.

You can trade with the bot at the storage but only if you are the owner. That way, you can unload the stuff the bot bought to your main character, or upload the stuff from your main charcter's storage to the bot for it to sell later on, when back at the spot.

The bot is not allowed to trade with anyone else there. Also, the visits to the storage should be kept short.

Good thing we have rule #5 in the bot rules then:

5. Bots that serve their master in a way such as muling are illegal (see the rules for multiplaying).

In that case i would call muling that the bot is following your main char into any mine and runs your harvested stuff to storage.

Restocking a bot at storage, i won't call that muling.

Yes, you can not use your bots to mule stuff. You can only transfer what the bot bought (for a fair market price, not for a nominal value from your guildies), or what it will sell.

And one last addition: It seems there was a misunderstanding that some moderators believed that bots were not allowed to trade with the owners at storage (in a non muling context). That's not their fault, it was a case of poor communication on my part.

Some final clarifications:

1.The bot allways buys at lower prices than in market (for example silver 1.1 gc), but that is the price for everybody and it is usually players that sell stuff to bot, not guildies.

2. When I take stuff (or buy stuff) from bot at storage, I use it to a) mix things myself, b ) resell it on market myself at higher price, c) sell guildies for bot buying prices (in above example - 1.1 gc) for further mixing or resale at their discretion.

None of the above would include cases of buying from guildies -> taking to storage - > selling to the same guildies back.

As I understand, such operations would not be considered muling and would not break any rules?

I know this topic is over a year old. But I am a little confused. So thought to post here instead of creating a new thread....

My Bot Astaroth is in EVTR Mine.. Deals mostly with iron ore, and items to help miners/harvestors. Prices publically and vip are with in player maket range imo.

My question is, am I allowed to take this bot to storage, and trade with it as its owner, in the same manner I do at its approved location?

I ask this question because I dont sell iron ore to my bot, but i do buy off it. And Id rather know now if would be considered muling, or not. Considering I do also restock it with picks, leather gloves, other items harvestors need on occassion.

Thanks in advance. :icon13:
