Haidir quest does not complete.

Recommended Posts

quest.png

This is a really weird one.

My alt is LadyFlame. Probably my main char these days.

Anyway I try and do a Haidir quest daily.

Three days ago it came up as Vulca.

I looked in a certain crib sheet and saw that Vulca was 30 Cockatrice in WVF, so I shot 31 of them. But the quest didn't end.

On the way I killed a forest Chimeran as well.

Then I looked at the crib sheet and saw that in fact Vulca could also be 30 Forest chimeran in WVF, so I killed 30 of those.

The quest didn't end,

I am now over 40 FCW and the quest continues.

Now the technique I eventually used on the FCW because they are over my pay grade with a sword, and WVF is a difficult place to range, was to use summoned tank rabbits to pin the FCW so I could range them without them running off.

The FCW all registered on my counters, as my kills except one where the last killer blow was administered by a tank rabbit.

Is it simply the case that for Haidir purposes the only way to register a kill is to have done all the damage yourself?

And even using magic doesn't work?

I am now stuck it seems in a never ending quest. Can anyone help?

(PS: it seems that if you log out and in again, and go to the NPC, the quest appears again in the quest log)

Client-side counters aren't reliable, so that they say you killed X doesn't mean the server thinks you killed X.

And while you don't have to do all the damage yourself, you have to deal the killing blow (or shot), and magic

doesn't count afaik (I think rings of damage/power do count). So, if you are using summons to do most of the

damage, and one of those is still engaged when the monster dies, it's probably a toss-up for the client to decide

if it's your kill => counters may very well overestimate the number you killed directly.

As for the cockatrice, I think you aren't at the a/d level where you'd get them, but one of the spawns doesn't count

for the haidir daily (the one used for Novac)... (also, Haidir gives you a hint which one you got, when he sends you

to Vulca).

That does not compute.

The ONE time when the FCW was down to 3 points and a bunny dealt the killer blow it did not register in my stats.

In all other cases they have died with 10+HP on them by arrow shot.

The bunnies are not capable of killing on their own, they do little or no damage. In all cases I am pouring arrows into them (FCW) at close range and doing the vast majority of the damage and administering the killer blow.

It's not clear anywhere who gets credit for mêlée kills:

Or what the point of summons are, if they can't be used to assist with kills

Well, it does compute, when you think the rabbits do damage the mob...

Summons can be used, but you have to make the final kill.

I'm not sure whether a range kill counts if the monster is also fighting other players or summons.

I know that range kills count if the monster is not in a melée fight at the time of the kill.

So, if you were engaging the monsters with summons while killing them with arrows, what might

happen is that the range kills aren't "seen" as long as the summons are also fighitng the monster...

What you could try is, stop ranging and join the melee for the final kill (RoD/RoP could help). Your rabbits

should help in lowering the apparent def level of the chims (and the chim might stay fixed on the

rabbits).

In all but one case I did.

Well I know that too. But surely someone - radu - must know what the rules are here?

Or has whoever coded it up vanished from mortal ken?

Even if you argue it's not an implementation bug, it is a documentation bug.

If range kills don't work in mêlée, what makes you think that sword kills in mêlée would?

Is this why no one uses summons to pin monsters for quests?

No idea. I told you what I thought might have happened (with some help from Learner),

and how you could perhaps test it/get around it. If that's not good enough for you, too bad.

As far as I'm concerned, you're on your own from here.

And btw, I never argued for or against it being a bug, and as for documentation, what documentation?

Nothing related to how fighting is handled server-side has any official documentation afaik.

(even a/d levels of monsters are derived by players, not posted by radu, to the best of my knowledge).

Good luck

A few points on this.

1) With your stats you should be able to do this quest yourself providing you wear half-decent armour and have a half-decent sword. It would be even easier were your build not so messed up.

2) You have been told, on more than one occasion, MANY TIMES in channel that if your summons are melee'ing the mob & you are ranging there is almost no chance of you getting the kill counted for the Haidir daily.

3) You asked what the difference would be using a sword in melee as opposed to ranging - the difference is YOU WOULD BE IN MELEE NOT RANGING!!! Jfc...

4) If you were not so obnoxious you could ask someone to help you by them fighting the fcw's down to almost no hp then fleeing, so allowing you to get the final 'kill-blow' in melee. But you are. So they won't.

5) If it really is so very hard for you to do / understand / cope with - just get a Haidir pass & skip it!! You can buy from either bots in-game or the online shop - you have the option of both readily available.

6) This is a problem of your own making.

Lastly, a question: How is it that you have maintained this thread spelling properly & with an acceptable standard of sentence structure yet you arrogantly, even aggressively, refuse to do so in public channels? Do you really think this makes you look funny or clever? It doesn't. Then to come here with this nonsensical problem & obvious refusal to listen to others just shows how ridiculous the manner in which you conduct yourself really is.

As a final point: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THE VULCA Cockatrice daily has a serious bug. It does not count the Cockatrice that is spawning between the Toadcircle and the village as a kill for the haidir daily. This Cockatrice is used in a different Quest. and i know radu was notified about the bug the day this Haidir came into game, it never got fixed. So if you have the Vulca cockatrice daily, you might need to kill a lot more then 30 if you get the trices of that wrong spawn. It happend to me once, i killed at that spawn 30 before realizing that it is the bad one.

While this is indeed a known bug (which according to radu isn't easy to fix, without further detail),

it's also irrelevant for LadyFlame (for now):

her a/d isn't high enough to even get that daily from Haidir.

OP stated that "I looked in a certain crib sheet and saw that Vulca was 30 Cockatrice in WVF", so

a - didn't read Haidir's message all that well (or doesn't know the subtle hint that indicates which daily you have),

b - didn't check with Vulca,

c - didn't realise that Cockatrice were a bit much for his/her a/d levels on that character (103/103, open stats)

a ) I do not know when people start to get cockatrices. But i know its at a time people cannot really handle them.

I actually tanked a few times for guildies the trice as they got that quest when they where absolutly not able to kill them and got the quest.

b )She killed 31trices and it was not finished, (there is a known bug that does not take all trices on the map in account so you often need to kill far more then 31)

c ) she killed over 40FCW and the quest was not finished

So i answered to that. But of course if she ranges while summons keep in place, that will not work, Haidir needs to be in melee. And Vulca tells one what to kill.
