Does virtual box cost anything?

It probably does.

www.virtualbox.org

It is free.

Of course, if you want to run Windows, that costs something. Linux is free though.

This is a topic outside of the thread. I suggest you look into Ubuntu or OpenSUSE. I am sure there other suggestions, but again, it is a bit off topic.

Yes. I think a number of those options could be combined.

There is also the option to add a scroll bar which can now be done with a single parameter change to the function that creates the tab.

Actually, that scroll bar option should probably be applied to all the tabs simply as a defensive measure for future extension of the client.

 

Is the display of the scroll bar directly linked to the option being on or off, or is it only shown if the content extends beyond the length of the container? (which technically doesn't matter, but makes for a slightly cleaner interface)

If you specify the option, the scroll bar is drawn even if you don't need to scroll. This probably makes the layout code simpler but I guess it could be changed as you suggest. Vegar added the scrollbar code. I made a few changes when I used it to make the dropped bag window resizeable.

I have been having trouble with the game crashing when i use the manufacture screen.

 

It has mostly happened when doing alchemy, but i don't think it happens just then. sometimes it happens when the manufacture screen is just open, and you open other windows.

 

I'm Running on a Mac Book, BTW

This is a bug that has been plaguing MacBooks (that have integrated Intel graphics) since the 10.5.5 update and EL 1.7. I have looked into the problem a bit, and I don't think there is much we can do. It seems to be entirely related to an update in the graphics drivers that occurred at 10.5.5.

 

Florian and Fedora, care to weigh in on this?

Could you also consider Sir_Odie's patch to add the user menus to the mac build project files. I was reluctant to commit the change as I can't build it :whistle:

Okay, I have a full build available. This uses the latest CVS code and the "patch". Sir_Odie should have just PM'd me to get that updated in CVS. Quite simple.

Found a major, Mac-specific, crash the game bug with one of the new quests.

 

I'm going to be purposely vague, as completely describing how to reproduce the bug involves major quest spoilers.

 

Anyway, in one of the new quests, you are to fetch something in a certain school for an NPC named Aurora.

 

When I found this object, and used the Use icon, my client crashed. Furthermore, I was completely unable to log back in. I'd put in my char name and password, the blue progress bar would get to the end, and then the game would freeze. Reinstalling the client, and even starting it from a different user account with no saved info failed to work.

 

Finally, I grabbed my wife's PC laptop and was able to log in successfully. However, I noticed that there was an empty space on the shelf where the quest item I had grabbed earlier had been. Figuring the problem might be with this particular animation trick, I used a Votd ring to get myself far away from the room I was in, and then attempted to log back in on my Mac. This time I logged in successfully, leading me to believe that the problem is with the animation specific to this quest. I am now very scared to re-enter this particular room on my Mac client...

 

I'm on a 1.5GHz Powerbook G4, 1.25GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200 with 64MB of VRAM.

I use Mac 10.4 Whenever my character enters a building, it crashed. Btw, I downloaded the version you have here, not the one on the game site. Because the game site one crashed from the start. I thought it was working until my character tried to go inside a tavern.

What kind of Mac? Is it a newer intel-based Mac, or is it an older PowerPC-based mac? Can you send me (best) or post the crash log?

I have install the build of the post 65, with the OSX 10.5.7 running excelent but when i install the 10.5.8, the game crash little again. ty for you help

I got it, I update my mac from 10.4 to 10.4.11, now it's working.

I have a similar problem though I'm running (the last build of) EL client on the last Leopard release available. I doubt if it matters, but because Solumn was told to name his machine, I'll name mine. It's a Mac Mini (2.1), with indeed-integrated graphics.

The crash occurs when a texture is loading. First I was thinking that it's an indoor problem, but then I experienced a crash while shambling around outdoors.

Also there's a noticeable slowdown sometimes, which occurs normally in a heavy shadowed area, so it might be a performance problem, but it's often related with lots of graphic glitches, and sometimes redrawing screen with a mode switch (Option+Enter) seemingly fixed not only glitches, but also performance issues.
