Guest Guest_Siinz Report post Posted May 24, 2011 I have downloaded EL three times now, always same problem, each time it loads, I get "Microsoft encountered an error and needs to close, Report Error" etc. window pops up. I am running Windows XP Home Edition 2002, Service pack 3 and all of my drivers, graphics cards and so on are all up to par to this date. Please fix this problem because I want to try this game out. What is your graphics card? Usually the problem lies there.

Entropy Report post Posted May 25, 2011 That's strange. When exactly does it crash? Can you get to the log in screen?
korrode Report post Posted May 25, 2011 (edited) When you say "all of my drivers, graphics cards and so on are all up to par to this date.", do you mean you got the latest video card drivers from ATi's site? or just that you've recently done Windows Update? If the latter, you need the drivers from AMD/ATi's site: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx EDIT: For Windows XP 32bit, the exact driver is this one: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Legacy/Pages/integrated_mce-xp.aspx?type=2.7&product=2.7.2.3.2&lang=English Edited May 25, 2011 by Korrode

Guest Tillman Report post Posted May 25, 2011 Yeah, have the same problem, tried updating the driver, didn't change anything - just loaded some extra stuff I didn't need that I can't get rid of. Apparently ATI is not supporting this card (Radeon X300 series) anymore. any other reason that this message might be coming up?
Entropy Report post Posted May 25, 2011 Can you get to the log in screen? If so, click on the Options menu, and then maybe try to disable reflections and shadows, see if that helps. There is also a patch here, maybe it will help: http://www.eternal-lands.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=55348
Guest Siinz Report post Posted May 26, 2011 That's strange. When exactly does it crash? Can you get to the log in screen? Right after the game is downloaded, I double click on the desktop icon, game is just about starting to load with blue bar then stops right there. That's when the popup for "microsoft encountered an error, would you like to send report" come up.

I downloaded the game again, when I went to load it, it mentioned about 'opengl extensions' then the Mircosoft Error needs to shut down window pops up. If it's a laptop you don't get the drivers from the ATI website: you need to go to the laptop manufacturer website, and see if there are newer drivers available for your video card. Nope, no such newer drivers since 2005. When I go to load the game after I downloaded it, I double click desktop icon, once game starts to load, seconds after, the Encountered Error window pops up as soon as it says "initializing opengl extensions" then the window closes. Guest Siinz Report post Posted May 27, 2011 Any website anyone gives me for 'drivers' does not work. Driver from my manufacturers site is current driver I have now. Don't know what else to do. My HP laptop is in tiptop shape, everything updated all the way till now since I bought it in 2005.
korrode Report post Posted May 27, 2011 Driver from my manufacturers site is current driver I have now. What do you mean by this exactly? The symptoms you describe are classic video card driver issues. Can you look at the properties of the video card in Device Manager and check that the version of the driver does change when you try different versions of the ATi Catalyst driver? The symptoms you describe are classic video card driver issues. Can you look at the properties of the video card in Device Manager and check that the version of the driver does change when you try different versions of the ATi Catalyst driver? Someone told me in a recent post to see if my manufacturer has any newer versions of my graphics card, there is none at all, just the one that came with my laptop when I first bought it in 2005-2006 or so. The links I used that people have given me, I tried them all, none of them work. Checked properties, installed, uninstalled, tried clicking on 'update driver' when I check Device Manager, it tells me 'no current updates' etc. etc. I restarted my pc like it told me too after downloading other drivers people suggested to me in other links, nothing, nothing works at all. I don't have any problems with another game I play that uses opengl also, it runs perfectly fine and I have been playing that game for 5 years now.
