is it worth it?

Recommended Posts

Hello i am interested in ranging but know nothing much about it.

I want to become a good archer, i know it will cost alot of money but im not worried about that, im thinking ill create a new charcter a pure archer for now so i can be better then if i did it on my main.

I will be getting both the perks as a pure ranger it will benefit me.(if it doesnt just say so)

I just need to know what attibutes are good for rangers?

and any opinions about anything to do with ranging is appreciated

I would suggest to do it on your main character, you will have advantage for preparations.

First of all, money. A lot of it. About 300k would be enough to get to a pretty high level training non-stop. I would also suggest getting a recurve bow and a nightvisor (training at night) to make the training a little tiny bit easier.

As for the two ranging perks, I have both and I love them. If you want to dedicate to archery, get them of course.

You might consider getting as much emu as you can (carrying arrows so you don't need to restock very often), and perception. The higher the perception, the better you hit, but the less exp you get. So save pickpoints for perception and put them only when you reach a good ranging level, that is, when you have done most of your training.

Oh, and pick up the DBs of animals ;) some extra gcs are always good for an archer eh :)

If you need an advice in-game, just PM me or send me a gossip :)

i dont have alot off pps on my main... and low perception so ill need like 20 pps for perks and that.... ive already created an alt and i already know it may cost hundreds of thousands of gc but well i want a ranger. so any advide for a PURE ranger? ill try to get 300k to start

yep im getting both perks..

all i need to know is what attributes...? do i get will up higher then 16 or not at all? i guess high phys for weight and health..? low coord is phys better? need some pro ranger advice

EDIT: the only prob to a pure ranger is they have no def so in pk get hit VERY high, im thinking about buying some stones/saving up pps and making my main a ranger, still if you can give a few hints for attribute setup/anything else say so

You might still want to train a/d for easier pickpoints.

as I said, phys for HP and emu, coord for emu, and perception for shooting like a pr0

ok tyvm now all i need to do is save up 500k for everything. i will train a/d decided if i create a pure ranger has way to many disadvantages. like no defense if i go pking (just incase i get hit) and the money is harder to make, if i take anti i have the pps for the perks now ;)

Well, to tell you the truth I disagree with a lot what was said above :P

First of all, ranging is the worst skill I know in terms of rising your OA (in terms of exp/hour). For this reason, you are actually forced to make a char that has other skills that allow you to get exp faster, otherwise you'll never get enough pp's fast enough.

I'm against taking any perks before you really know what you are doing. So either check them on test server or learn the skill first, and then think if the perks are what you really need. As a perkless person I can say that it is possible to do quite good in ranging without any of these.

As to the training, for many first levels, shoot the smallest creatures with the cheapest bow, no need for nightvisors or recurve. To be honest, I traing with xbow exclusively and I do not complain.

As to attributes, perception is ranger's friend when hunting, but it is his enemy when training, so it is better not to overdo it before getting to higher levels.

In my opinion money is not an issue at all, the issue is the time needed to shoot all those arrows. In mid 30's you need to shoot roughly 5k arrows to raise your ranging level, which takes really long time, especially if you decide to do that in a form of hunting, not pvp. Obviously, when you range, you are not getting heaps of OA exp so you might get a feeling of getting behing your friends (they announce getting new OA's while you are still at same OA level, just 50 kgc per level poorer).

Anyway, good luck with your ranging efforts :)
