New Summon Skill: Monster Rider

Recommended Posts

I was thinking, we could have a new skill for summons. where you can with the menu go and mount certain creatures and ride them.

In that moment you take on a summoned creature and ride it. you loose the ability to fight with your char, and your a/d and weapon becomes that of the creature. you can direct the creature like you would your char. You can do Magic but all effects would be for the creature and not on you (basicly that would mean you can heal the creature not yourself) if the creature dies in a fight. you will be unmounted and in the fight. creatures you could ride should be Tigers chims, bears littlbe blue dragons, the red and the black dragon.

So let's see if I understand what you have written correctly.

During a fight, you are invulnerable while riding the summons (all damage goes to the summons).

But you can still cast spells, including e.g. Harm, Life Drain, Mana Drain, Restore.

And this would work with either stones or direct summons.

Is that a correct summary of the intended effects?

Almost. what you are missing is that you will need to have a certain Summon level to reach it. i left it open as to whats that level is my suggestion would be either summon 80 or higher. (i am myself right now at 60). If you want you can restrict the Spells to certain ones or remove that ability its not that important. I did not think of Harm or life drain when i made suggestion. but i certainly thought about to be able to restore health. but i would be fine if such a health gain for the animal can be done over healing Potions and no mana at all

And yes it would be regardless if you use stone or direct summons. As long as you have the level to get this direction.

And before you say way to overpowered you will need first to summon creature then click on it to get the summons menu then select mount. so if you are already in a fight that will be taking lots of time. and one could catch that off by making you unable to do it while engaged in fight. So yes a low a/d person with summons 85 could summon a black dragon and be quite a fight for another fighter. and a high a/d fighter could wear out a different fighter. before attacking him.

But the last implementation are Details that can be changed or adjusted how to be set. The important part of my suggestion is

Get to be able to mount such creatures at a certain point of Summoning levels, as it looks cool and might attract people into summoning, or getting a goal while playing the game

Give the players doing so a few advantages so they might use it.

Level the playing field a little between very high players and lower ones.

I missed the point about the required levels because there was nothing about it in your original post (except for the reference to, which gets accessible at level 30 iirc)...

And I really only wanted to make sure I had understood what you were proposing.

But I don't see this getting introduced, if only because of the required artwork: there are 18 animations for "player on a horse",
and afaik, no artist avaiable to create any new ones.

(Oh, and you just about guaranteed a flame fest with

Level the playing field a little between very high players and lower ones.

:P)

actually most of the animation for riding horse can be reused.

But i agree the likelyhood of getting this suggestion in game is limited. as the development of this game is to much put in few hands.

And i doubt radu read these a lot

+1 for add new ways to speed up ingame (mount or like a boots of gonzalez) but it will confront the radu's shop doesn't it?

Maybe if we have certain creature that can be tamed and obviously need to have the specific item to, and it can be dropped by huge boss like casty or bricker?

And the ammount of steps limited by hour/day ?

Just some ideas..

What about a summoned Horse that could do this that you only have access to after lvl 80

would be cool to have a necro or ghost horse or something but i think radu said he's doesn't want anymore undead at some point.

The summoned horse could have stats based on summon lvl and you could ride it but would take damage instead of you till dead. Heal summoned could be used to prolong the life and there would have to be a negative to it dying maybe like a few second stun for the summoner. You would be temporally vulnerable for that time and could not use potions, cast spells or summons. So you would have a pro/con to using it.

Another way to increase or decrease the horse stats would be to have an exponential summon formula (dunno if possible)

For example:

Horse whistle+20 life ess(or death ess if you want necro horse x-D)+5 greater hp pots = Mountable summon with 400hp summon lvl req. 80

Horse whistle+20 life ess+10 greater hp pots= Mountable summon with 800hp summon lvl req. 90

Horse whistle makes radu happy as shop sales, greater hp pots make it a bit more rare to make but would be interesting to try.

Another con possible could be as per normal summons it does loose hp over time.

Could also do something like add Titanium bars to formula to give horse armor:

+30 ti bars= X% defense based on summon lvl

+50 ti bars= XX% defense based on summon lvl etc.

Dunno just random stuff that came to mind

Horses have the advantage of speed. i did not want to give that advantage to the mounted animals. thats why i thought about making it use up his hp before you loose hp. I am not sure but i think many of the animations can be reused for the animals too. as if i see it right, its the animation of a man/women sitting on a horse, that is separate from horse. and the Ability to direct it

No idea whether the animation of the rider is added on top of the animation for the animal, or completely independant. But even in the latter case, the rider's animation would need tweaking for the animal, probably: tigers, bears and dragons don't have the same proportions, so leg position at least would have to be adjusted, and different animals move in different ways.
