Which gods?

Recommended Posts

Guest Faerie_Lilly

Ok, I am working towards becoming an all-rounder but was wondering which gods are the best to serve, since the max is 3 and they don't all get along :( As of now my levels are: Att. 20 Def. 19 Har. 32 Alc. 28 Mag. 11 Pot. 9 Sum. 7 Man. 10 Cra. 11 Eng. 0 Tai. 0 Ran. 0 and my OA is 37 (Not sure if lvls will affect which to serve, but I decided to list tem just incase :D) Thanks in advance for any and all help, I greatly appreciate it. :(

Well, from my view all-rounder means you combine the options of being a combatant or a supplier together so, you will need a combat god + 2 other gods. All-rounder also means you will need high OA cause all the nexus, emu, rationality to level all your skills up. So the normal fighter usally gets more defence xp than attack xp (except for yours of cource, but that usally changes a few levels later, just depends on your build and monster you train on) which means more OA :( so defence god is better choice imo then that leaves you with 2 more gods to chose from. The defence god allows you to serve the manufacture, crafting, or magic god. From those three skills manufacture I would think would be the easiest(leather helms) plus a nice amount of xp you can get from them for your OA. Which leaves you with the crafting god to chose from :D which is nice cause this can be a fairly hard skill to level and the extra xp helps.

But of cource its the players decision which skills matches them the most, which you would think would be more fun to level and help you enjoy the game the most.

Here is the guild CEL's god calculator that might be helpful: http://www.el-cel.com/info/gods.php

Good luck!

Thanks very much for your help! I will definitely consider it. Everything you've said makes a lot of sense. I was already considering serving defence and crafting gods, so now I'm pretty sure I'll serve them. :omg: I guess that only leaves me with the manu god, and I could use a manu boost anyway. Thanks a ton! ~*Faerie_Lilly*~ (Now I've gotta go gather up their quest items! :mean:)

Alchemy is one of the easiest skills to level. If just want easy XP, the god would help. But if you want to be an all-rounder, you may want the XP bonus on harder skills (Manufacturing, Craft, Engineering, Tailoring - roughly in that order).

Correct

You listed my gods right there :D

I concur with Ghrae - you will get alch experience in droves, even just as a supply skill to others (especially crafting) - best to take gods in more difficult to level skills, they will pay dividends in the end.

IF you dont mind spending a LOT of GC (or invest time) for doing god quests, follow the God for the skill you are focussing on atm ...

If you reach your "allrounder-level" in that particular skill (you can make every item ingame without many failures) leave the god and do another one.

Combine the Gods for harder skills with friendly Gods that are particular EXP-BOOSTERS, like Alchemy God or Harvest God (whenever s/he comes)

That way you can level faster with the God in the harder skills - as mentioned above - AND you gain a lot of EXP with the other God(s).

Only thing you need to think about is the fact that it is really costly to change gods ...

*chimes in on a dated thread with a few tips*

For your overall: You need OAs for those pickpoints to get the absolutely necessary emu needed to be a good all-rounder... without having to delve into evil perks.

- a/d train whenever possible. Even if you're not big on fighting, this is the ultimate way to get your OA up.

- Take the alch goddess, hang on to her for as long as possible. Besides constant a/d training, this is the second best for OA-leveling.

- While you have the alch goddess, have the defense god for a/d training (since attack is an enemy god). You can also take a choice of manu, magic, potion or engineering god as your third during this time, whichever you want to work most on.

Attack/Defense

- I recommend always having one of these, and regularly a/d training for your OAs. Defense when you have the alch goddess, attack when possible.

(If you want more specific tips on use of these two gods, check combat forum threads. I'm not big on fighting, so this is just how I've been doing it. You'll have to weigh fighter tips on these gods with your own all-rounder need for the alch goddess or other gods.)

Alchemy

Expensive, plan to keep a long time to make it worthwhile.

- Take it, keep it for as long as possible as this is good for your OA. No real need to take it for alch leveling as you'll end up alching a lot anyway working on other skills. The exception being if you need to get to a certain level to make something.

Potion

Expensive, plan to keep a long time to make it worthwhile.

- Take it once you're able to decently make SRs/BRs. Keep it, and plan to do motherloads of those pots while you have it. Potioning can be very easily leveled this way, profitably, just time-consuming.

And by it being profitable then, it can help pay for your unprofitable skills as well, for added bonus. :)

The above 4 are beauties for your overall level.

The rest, mix and match as you are able to based on enemy gods and such. Work primarily on the skills you have Gods for, not forgetting to spend at least occasional time on others (ignoring skills is the sign of a bad all-rounder, hehe).

Use El-Cel's God Compatibility Chart to help you in your planning!

Switch gods when possible if a skill with a god is getting too far behind your others.

Plan your gods well in advance as much as possible, for how long you intend to keep them. (Base on skill level not real-life time.)

And of course, make sure you get your gc's worth off of them. While some like summoning have relatively cheap quests, alch/pot/engineering are quite expensive. Plan ahead for them, make sure you're ready to hold on to them for a VERY long period, and get as much extra experience off them as possible.

---------------------------

And of course, don't forget your 3 godless skills: harvest, ranging, tailoring.

Harving of course is a constant. Unless you want to try the almost-futile attempt to be the #1 harvester (hehe), just stick to harving items you NEED, aiming for the highest-point one when possible for the harv hour points. (That's me for the last 30 or so levels with exceptions only for the 3x harv special day.) A really good all-rounder isn't going to have time to "hit the dung every single hour" as you need that time to mix and get other skills up.

Tailoring and Ranging will require you make the time to work on these. Both being expensive to level, you can easily as an All-Rounder make up for that loss with alchemy (and potion once you're easily making BRs/SRs).

My humble suggestions:get defense goddess, since its best to gain OA fast. Also considere taking Magic god, its nice to heal in combat and when you start doing teleport to portal rooms i bet you will get addicted to it. :) Then take either manufacture, potion or alchemy gods, to help you in a trader skill. I would recommend alchemy god if you are a true all arounder since a good alchemist can provide the means of training for the other trading skills.

Manu, Crafting and Defense are my recommendations. With that lineup, you will get good a/d training and will be able to make most of the gear you will need a few levels before you would otherwise.

Manu/Crafting is a good choice, for one those skills can be a pain to train, and two neither one conflicts with either the attack or defense gods which I like 'cause I'm a bit OCD. Whenever my attack or defence gets more then 5 levels out of whack I switch gods. ;)
