Nope, but it is indeed special :D Got me wondering - do they use sound signals or?

lots of amazing birds developed in new zealand, including a native hawk with a wingspan of up to 2.6 metres :D

now extinct *sigh*

the kiwi isn't seen much around the cities lol, and it only comes out at night - and i'm not too sure how it communicates - they are so endangered that most of them have been taken into protection on our offshore islands.

though it doesn't look much, it is a bird that has much prestige according to the maori, cos of the favour it was said to have done for Tane.

The Maori are a group of people from... dunno.

But Tane was this person who convinced the Kiwi to come down from the treetops to save the birds (??).

The kiwi sounds like that one wheel that always squeaks.

Sigh, yes I knew they were threatened by extinction - gotta love globalism and western greed :-(

Since you weren't sure of how they communicated I looked it up - they do use sounds, and this one is from the little spotted kiwi: http://www.kiwi-wildlife.co.nz/Sounds/is_kiwi.mp3 - the others should sound somewhat similiar :D

And freeone - wikipedia.com :)

What, you couldn't find england on a world map? The part you're looking for is called western Europe.

If you call that a bird ;-)

That is the funniest excuse for a bird i have ever seen. Looks like a cross between a hedgehog and a hen.

Stupid kiwi.

Punch it, now!

erm, no but we aren't called the same as them either by anyone. you said kiwi is slang for yourselves, but is it an insult too ? if so sorry...

anyway it was meant slightly less rude than it sounded.

np, like i said earlier, though it doesn't look that hot, the kiwi has high prestige with the maori here, so it's actually considered to be quite a cool bird :)
