A selection of Bad day suggestions

As we have had alot of 'good things" implemented recently how about some negative for balance

 

Strike! : this day all storages are closed still not impossible to do stuff buy makes it a pita day

 

Daniels is dead : this day you can do no magic

 

Butterfingers : today you cant equip anything, due to coding this might be an awkward one to implement but it could just be you cant add any new equipment so if you are already wearing stuff you can still move/use it but once off it stays off

 

Unfused : no mines day as many have ask for

 

i'm not holding my breath for any thanks for the above :P

Do we really need/want more reasons for people to log off for the #day?  Just asking (maybe we DO)...

My thoughts exactly, or just another #bad day to be removed. Waste of time.

You've effectively shut down the game. You can't harvest, where are you going to put it. You can't fight, armor, he, sr weapons are in sto. You can't mix. People just log off for the day.

Daniels is dead : this day you can do no magic

You've brought fighting to a stand still. You can't restore. Toad mixers can't work, same problem as fighters. Potion cooldown is slow and doesn't heal nearly enough for high level fighters. NO invasions, NO instances,  or invances.

You can't fight or you can't harvest. Again this effectively shuts down the game and people log off.

This one is hardly worth addressing, Go visit II and say hi to S-troll.

My best guess is you didn't fully think these ideas though and how they would effect the game.

As I already called these days as stupid in chan 6, wanna call them stupid again here. 

 

You want to have bad days in EL to make people do other things in game, like labour day, peace day, green day. But no storage day? Why? You just want to decrease the playerbase that is already low?

 

And no bombing day is just focused on some case that is actually good day for %99 of EL and actually he doesn’t even bomb anymore.

These are just bad.

 

Add a bad day that makes everyone look like a penguin? Sure!

Add a bad day that spawns a random monster (one up or down from original) instead of the actual monster? Sure!

Add a bad day that makes Wizzy say the moon is turning rainbow instead of red? Sure!

 

The one's you've presented though... You would probably have better luck telling radu to turn the server off for 6 hours.

How about a bad day that gives everyone a negative perk for the day? We already have Scotty's Vacation, which gives everyone the Scotty Died perk. Just add others, e.g., Antisocial day, where everyone has the Antisocial perk. Or Godless day, where everyone has the Godless perk. These would be inconvenient, but not bad enough that people would sign off. More extreme negative perks, like One, Hellspawn, or Harvester of Sorrows, would not be included.

Why do we need more negative days anyway? I mean its good that we have a the negative days that we already have, most players here play to relax, while a few negative (as well of positive ) days influence how people play that particular day. The idea behind every special day should be promoting a certain way of playing. So most "Bad Days" in game have a positive useage too. and if its is that Lenny does not flee you on day of the brave.

If "[t]he idea behind every special day should be promoting a certain way of playing", here are some suggestions. Some of these are positive, some negative, some neutral, some wimpy, depending on your point of view:

1. Day of No Astrology. Everyone's astrology is 0.
2. Day of Animal Paupers. No creature drops gold.
3. Day of Disjointed Fighting. ~20% chance of hitting a teleport nexus on each blow/arrow while fighting (thus disengaging), instead of taking/dealing damage.
4. Day of the Flash. Everyone runs, including creatures.
5. Day of Daily Quest NPC vacation. All NPCs that assign daily quests disappear. (If that's not possible, they just refuse to assign dailies.)
6. Day of Random Respawns. Creatures on outside (and some inside) maps respawn at a random creature respawn point (on the same map), instead of their own (with some exceptions).
7. Day of Rare Fruit. When harvesting fruits and vegetables, there is a (very very small) chance of harvesting a rare fruit (grape, orange, etc.).
8. Day of Poison Plants. When harvesting plants, there is a small (<1%) chance of getting poisoned (skunk or red snake-type poison, not toadstool-type poison).
9, Day of Backpacks. Everyone's EMU increases by 20%. (I.e., EMU=24*might instead of 20*might.)
10. Day of Stable Caverns. While harvesting, cavern wall collapse and radon pouch encounters do not occur, or have a much lower chance of occurring.
11. Day of Unstable Caverns. While harvesting, cavern wall collapse and radon pouch encounters have a much higher chance of occurring.

I don't know how Special Day selection currently works, but it should be rather straightforward to modify the algorithm so that the more popular special days have a higher probability of occurring.

7. Day of Rare Fruit will give players who don't participate in invasions/invances/etc. the chance to acquire the rare fruit items themselves.
8. Day of Poison Plants may discourage some AFK harvesting, particularly if it's made a minor event (that won't cause harvesting to stop if the player's character is wearing a Harvester Medallion). But yeah, this is one of the wimpy ones. It could actually be made part of normal harvesting events, instead of having a special day for it.
9. Day of Backpacks is another kind of wimpy one. It just means less back-and-forth to storage. Which is nice.
10 & 11 Stable/Unstable caverns may encourage/discourage harvesting on that day.
