video/release bugs: Linux

Recommended Posts

Ok this is a bit of a long one.

For some time - not sure when it happened a few - not many, but a few - players and bots appear to be transparent, in parts.

The typical effect is shown here:

http://vps.templar.c...hes problem.jpg

Note access_denied and Tina...who clearly shows a custom cloak...but no bra boots or panties!

I have upgraded to the latest Nvidia drivers, clicked every single clickable thing in GFX and video configurations, and as a result lots of lovely custom clothes shados and stars have appeared, but still some characters don't show up!

Thinking that maybe there was a client update needed I found one - an update for 1.9.3 - but that actually failed to work at all. It wanted GLIBC_2.11 which has been superseded on my system

el.x86_64.linux.bin: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.11' not found

(required by /home/xxx/el.x86_64.linux.bin)

e.g.

ldd -v /bin/sh

linux-vdso.so.1 => (0x00007fff7e9ff000)

libncurses.so.5 => /lib/libncurses.so.5 (0x00007fd05d177000)

libdl.so.2 => /lib/libdl.so.2 (0x00007fd05cf73000)

libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0x00007fd05cc20000)

/lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 (0x00007fd05d3b6000)

Version information:

/bin/sh:

libdl.so.2 (GLIBC_2.2.5) => /lib/libdl.so.2

libc.so.6 (GLIBC_2.4) => /lib/libc.so.6

libc.so.6 (GLIBC_2.3) => /lib/libc.so.6

libc.so.6 (GLIBC_2.3.4) => /lib/libc.so.6

libc.so.6 (GLIBC_2.2.5) => /lib/libc.so.6

/lib/libncurses.so.5:

libdl.so.2 (GLIBC_2.2.5) => /lib/libdl.so.2

libc.so.6 (GLIBC_2.3) => /lib/libc.so.6

libc.so.6 (GLIBC_2.2.5) => /lib/libc.so.6

/lib/libdl.so.2:

ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 (GLIBC_PRIVATE) => /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2

libc.so.6 (GLIBC_PRIVATE) => /lib/libc.so.6

libc.so.6 (GLIBC_2.2.5) => /lib/libc.so.6

/lib/libc.so.6:

ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 (GLIBC_2.3) => /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2

ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 (GLIBC_PRIVATE) => /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.s

So I reverted to the old 1.9.3 (non updated) binary to run the game but left all and every other update in place.

Still no joy with transparent people

System is Debian Lenny with latest updates and backports

I conjecture somehow I am missing some texture files or something, but I cant see how?

No one in game seems to have a clue...

cant use that debian package - this system is too old to have the correct libraries.

Might have to compile from source..or upgrade the OS to squeezse..sigh. Another week sorting incompatibilities and rebuilding stuff then.

Ok I stumbled through the source compile and managed to get a working binary (says 1.9.3 p2) but it STILL shows the same bug.

Although it seems to be a good fast and cleaner and smaller binary than the official 1.9.3 release (2.8Mbytes versus 6.6Mbytes!!?? I suspect its using non statically linked libraries or summat)

Hmm Something else also happened some time ago..training arrows showed the wrong image in my inventory. I'll go and buy some and see if that's still an issue as well

yup

see here

Something weird has happened to my rendering maps maybe any ideas?

Well I found the problem. The 1.93 update to the actual rendered objects hadn't worked using GUI tools so I did it the old fashioned way, and now the clothes and arrows are back BUT something appalling has happened to the frame rate. Used to get 30-50 now crawling at 12-15?

Same on all available builds of the client too.

Looks like processing all those clothes is now screwing up the video or summat

Even poor man don't give me any speed sheesh. software upgrades. Who needs em

OK. Somehow I had TWO clients running simultaneously. All sorted and speed is back

Glad you got it working. Debian updates are painless in my experience. IMHO, you should really consider upgrading to the current stable version. :)
