El 1.9.1 for Windows and Linux released

Recommended Posts

Windows installer: http://www.eternal-lands.com/el_191_update.exe

Linux zip: http://www.eternal-lands.com/el_linux_update_191.zip

If you are running Linux, please test the binaries (which are provided by Bluap). Make sure everything is fine.

You can install the update right away, or wait for the server update, in a few days. If you install them right now, there will be a few map problems (like falling through holes, etc.) but nothing major.

Let me know if there are any problems.

P.S. We will be waiting for the OSX maintainers to provide a Mac package, then I will post it here.

Same here and no sound

gogalthorp@linux1:~> elc.sh

open /dev/[sound/]dsp: Device or resource busy

open /dev/[sound/]dsp: Device or resource busy

el.linux.bin: new_actors.c:934: add_enhanced_actor_from_server: Assertion `!"Using old client data" || actors_defs[actor_type].neck != ((void *)0)' failed.

Aborted

Running OpenSuse 64 bit

Could not just unzip the file since the binaries are not installed in the ~/.elc directory

bin is in /usr/games/elc.linux.bin owned by root

The start script in is /usr/bin/elc.sh

data is in /usr/share/games/elc-data/

Most ~/.elc subdirectories are links to elc-data

All the usr based files are owned by root but I had to allow all to write to elc-data to stop the update custom cloths crash I was having.

I extracted the 64 bit bin and put renamed it and put it in /usr/games mad it executable

just unzipped the rest in ~/.elc

Original install came from an RPM from the Packman repo.

Dropped back to the 1.9.0 version but I don't know what effects the new data files will have there. Quick test was ok

Gogalthorp & popeye. The clue is in the assertion "Using old client data". You need to make sure the "#data_dir" line in the file "$HOME/.elc/main/el.ini" points to the directory you unpacked the new data into.

Also, as the zip file provided is an update rather than a replacement, you need to copy it over the old data files or at least a copy of the old data files.

Unzipping to ~/.elc should put things in the linked directories. ie the data should go to the /usr/share/games/elc-data/ . Note that as originally installed here via the RPM the permissions to those directories was read only. I did change that so the data should be with the rest of the data. I'll check.

Ok looks like your right the files did not end up where there where supposed to. Maybe a problem with arc. I'll unzip to a temp and then copy the files.

ok after changing ownership to root and copying to the correct location I now get sound but still crash at login same error

Is this patch for going from 1.9.0 to 1.9.1 or from some testing version of 1.9.1? or am I still missing files? I did not install any of the previous testing versions!

Those files should be good enough, they are from 1.9.0 to 1.9.1

First, make sure /usr/share/games/elc-data/ is in your el.ini as your data dir.

Then make sure you actually copied those files there (look at the timestamps and stuff). Did you set your unzip program to overwrite the old files?

Success. Looks good have not done any real testing but logged, has sound and the new objects look good so far. I tried to copy all the files at once but I ended up copying them folder by folder. That worked.

Note the FPS is significantly better good work

Sound was working fine using the cvs client. Not sure why the linux binary does this.

As pointed out in this thread, You can get sound working if you have this error by installing an OSS compatibility package. This is alsa-oss on Debian and Ubuntu. Once installed you start the client with "aoss el.x86.linux.bin" or what ever you have called your executable.

Whenever I click on the ground to walk, my "X" appears in another location and I walk there. Doesn't seem to matter which direction I am facing. My character always walks towards the bottom of the screen.

Any ideas on how to correct this?

Have you played with the mouse bug settings in the options menu? I believe they're under the video tab.

I'll have a llok at this option. I have never had this kind of problem before so I didn't know about that option.

@octane

I am using WinXP Pr0 SP3

Edit: checked the mouse bug and the problem went away. Odd that I never had this problem before. Thanks
