Packet loss to the moved server

Recommended Posts

el_packet_loss.png

I'm seeing a fairly consistent 5-6% packet loss after the last hop to the server atm (mtr at over 600 packets now and at 5.8% loss), a number of other people are mentioning "ping spikes" too (prolly same thing).

Is everyone else seeing the same thing?

Windows users can get MTR here:

http://winmtr.net/

...and on Linux MTR is probably in your package repos.

edit:

BTW don't leave MTR tracing to the server for ages, just do 100 or 200 packets if you're going to check... we don't wanna DoS attack EL xD

Hi, im getting lag spikes problem after server is up again, ping is normal (55-70) but every few second it jump up to even 2k. Problem may be something else for me than el server but still it show me that game.eternal-lands.com loose 5-8% packets. Before server went down eveything was working fine i logged in 3min after it went up again and since then im getting this problem.

Definite packet loss here, if not quite so severe. I have to say that I was getting noticeable ping spikes before the change: just assumed it was my ISP.

Same here,I thought it was my computer.

Updated drivers. did'nt help.

Only game I have this problem - running 2-3 games at same time, same computer.

Same ove here, roughly 7-8% loss from EL-server, but bigger problems with the Euro-US connection point at rotterdam, while going over to the KPN-ring-network losses go up to 20% (known problem) so EL just got a bit slower/more resyncs needed for me, still playable though. :-)

Problems here as well, that little training that I've done this morning wasn't what I'd call comfortable, let alone enjoyable :P

11% loss on server, a whopping 61% loss on an intermediary that appears to be in paris (?)

Edit: Um, I decided to increase my sample size to 1k packets, and the same results persist: -

Unfortunately I also have same problem (packet loss 9%) after server move. Tomorrow I will have a chance to test connection using to other different ISPs. I will post results with 'traceroute'.

Hi.

Just got home (900 km road trip).

We're working on it.

I've opened a case by the carrier/hosting company to get the "remote hands" support check the switch/cables.

I'll let you know as soon as I have additional info.

Me again.

I've changed something on the NIC/switch setup (thus a tiny network connection loss a few seconds ago).

Please test against packet loss (using mtr for instance) and post back here.
