Trade Store

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I was just wondering if it would be possible/a good idea to get some sort of in-game marketplace (for the final trade)

I mean, yes, I can via pm/gm or the forum close a deal but I still have to trade with the other person ingame.

for example, I sell a harvester medallion to person X, we now need to meet ingame to trade the medallion for gc.

But what if I sold like 5k of bones, we would have to meet at store somewhere or trade little amounts (a bit more difficult).

I craft a lot and now someone asks me to craft 100 diss rings for him/her, no problem but it does take some time, because EL is such a worldwide community, I sometimes take orders from someone who's on the other side of the planet and we don't usually are online at the same time, nowadays I ask friends/guildies for a favour but I think it would be much better if I placed the rings in holding (marketplace/bank/whatever), set the price in gc I want for it together with the other persons ingame name.

I log off, the other person logs on, goes to marketplace, hands over the gc (and a little fee) and gets the items, the next day/time I log on I goto the marketplace to pickup my gc and voila, we're both (all) happy (and my wife too because I don't have to stay up till late because I need to wait for someone......)

And before someone say's "use a bot", Yes, could be possible I guess but afaik you can't make sure person 'X' can buy 50 items of A and someone else can't (and for bigger amounts this wouldn't work either).

I hope someone on the development-team can put this idea into (virtual) reality or at least starts thinking about another 'solution' for this.

Thanks all for your attention.

Greeting from the Netherlands, MichelAngelo

PS. no it's not an auction house or something like that, although I've read that thread with more then normal intrest

The DogPound bots (http://bots.el-services.net/) has a "reserve" feature so that you can reserve X amount of a specific item for a player. I think you might even be able to reserve the same item for multiple players, but I have not tried this.

The problem with having a marketplace where you can log in via a website is that it may also be possible for a smart person to automate that and then they would no longer need a bot because they would have something much more powerful. If it is a feature of the game, it may also decrease the value of bots. Bots are one of the main sources of income that the game has to keep it running, so we probably don't want to devalue them.

It may be easier to trade with that person from the different timezone during the weekends when they don't have to work and can trade with you during what may be his morning while it is your night. I know it is not worth much, but I hope that idea helps.

There have been some other suggestions regarding a marketplace too. In one of those threads, they mention that it totally destroyed the value of goods on another game.

Why not implant in game idea of post office. If u are selling something and someone want to buy it but he is on other continent, sleeping or whatever, you just go to NPC send him what he bought and write how much gc he owes, once he pays he receives package and pays posting fee depanding on worth of package (gc sink).

that could be a decent idea but penalize the laziness of that with some sort of % you have to pay to buy or sell it. plus there is so many bots in game, its almost eliminated player to player transactions.

Not really.

I have lots of items in my storage I would like to sell, but the bots which pay the best prices are often far away, so I save the items untill I might come close to that bot , and remember that I wantet to sell to it, and it still buy that item.

When I check market is it usually because I'm mining, and if people ask for something, do I not stop and go to a maybe far place to trade.

So yes, a lot of the items saved in storage would go on market if we could mail them.

This thread seems to match my idea the best,

so I'll post my suggestion here.

EL needs an ingame mailing system.

Storage npc will have an extra option "mail".

Large amounts of items can be transferred through mail,

from sender storage to receiver storage.

Payement can also be transferred through the mail system.

If there is mail,

a mail icon will blink somewhere on the GUI in a corner

Here's a raw sketch;

Sender: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/215/mailsend.jpg/

Receiver: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/853/mailreceive.jpg/

And let the mail system charge 10% for shipping & handling.
