Enhance video [erformance new notebook and linux

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

Can someone help me to upgrade my drivers or something. I have new laptop and el has really poor gfx performance here.

My system is ubuntu 10.4 (lucid)

Kernel Linux 2.6.32-22-generic

Gnome 2.30.0

My laptop is Acer extensa 5635z

Processor Pentium 2 GHz

Memory 2 GB

Graphics Card GMA 4500M

And some other stuff which is probably not important

Thx

Isti

I'm not sure about updating your drivers, but have you tried the basics to improve performance yet?

Try disabling shadows and reflections (Ctrl+O > Details tab) and reducing Maximum Viewing Distance (Ctrl+O > Adv Video tab.)

That is the point. I dont want to get more fps by disabling ingame gfx options. Im now running on poor man with ~15 fps.

Poor man is just a "group toggle" that disables a number of video options so Shadows & Reflections are already off. I'd still try reducing viewing distance.

Also, a quick google for "ubuntu gma 4500m" led me to this Intel Graphics Performance Guide on the ubuntu forums.

Indeed. Try 2 fps

And artefacts all over the place.

Will try meself with Nvidia card. I am sick of Intel chips. Simply dont work with Linux yet.
