The Heath Care Bill

Recommended Posts

As you all know; the Health Care bill was passed recently. I'm curious to know what everyone thinks about it.

Personally, I dislike Obama/Biden/Pelosi/etc., and think the Health Care bill is a disgrace/a huge step towards socialism in America.

I think that it is the stupidest thing ever. So check it....

1. We get free healthcare

2. Health Insurance companies go out of business, leaving people out of jobs.

3. Doctors dont try as hard (if at all) to find new cures to diseases and cancer because they arent getting paid as much.

4. Some guys grandma dies from cancer because doctors arent trying to find a cure hard enough.

5. The guy whos grandma died gos all racist and hates obama for passing such a bill, and attempts or actually trys to kill Obama.

6. America goes into a total civil war between the black and white people. Total chaos and war.

7. Somebody breaks into some U.S. Goverment Atomic Bomb facility, releasing atomic bombs all of the world.

8. The world ends.

I think that Obama is a fascist pig, who doesn't give a fuck about the constitution. He likes to force his way of thinking into everyone's lives, even though the congress does not have the authority to force people to pay money to companies.

In Holland we have a similar system. Yes it sucks that you don't have a choice, and that you will have to pay no matter what. On the other hand, insurance companies are forced to accept you, they are forced to reimburse, and you are protected to a certain extent. From what I see here, it doesn't have a negative effect on medical research and development, and what i do see is that even people that would never be able to afford certain treatments, now at least can get treated for their diseases.

You may be healthy now, and living a healthy lifestyle, but there's always a chance that something happens to you, or that you get sick with something that can only be cured with expensive treatment. There's pros and cons, of course, but I think in the end, you will find that when you need it, it's there and you'll just be happy you won't have to worry about who the fuck is ever gonna end up paying hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical bills.

Seen the poverty levels in certain areas in the United states, I think a big part of the US community will actually benefit from this bill, more than they realise at the moment.

Just my opinion

true

afaik Holland has one of the best economies in the world, thats why we are allowed in the G20 (unofficially) and they come to us for economic info

so what if you are forced to pay for healthcare? saves you alot of trouble if you arent insured and something happens to you

Just because everyone has a right to be stupid does not make it right to be stupid.

People without health care spend less on preventive care because they are unable to afford it. However, when they are sent to the emergency room the public pays for it anyway. This is reactive care. Only difference now is that it will be cheaper to pay for preventive health care than reactive.

I don't exactly care who put forth healthcare reform. It's been attempted for the past hundred years or so, (TR was the first iirc). The fact that it has finally passed is a victory in itself.

Unfortunately this isn't about health care at all. Rather it is about transforming our society just as Obama said he would. Prepare for more to come.

Interesting in this bill is government takeover of student loans. The government can borrow money at about 2% and will charge 6.4% on loans. They are taking that money + medicare money not to pay down the deficit but to fund their entitlement program. It is another sector of society they are trying to takeover. Auto Industry, banking, health care, student loans.....

I am for health care reform but think it could be better accomplished handled by the private sector. Any global company would not jump into an undertaking this large. They would beta test ideas see what worked and what didn't until they came up with a good system.

Another point is the US has 50% of our population that don't pay taxes and I tire of paying for others bad decisions. Many people who are considered poverty levels and get assistance have cable tv, cell phones, and other luxuries I think unnecessary.

I don't think it is right that the fed shifted liability to the states for medicaid and that taxpayers from some states have to help cover other states medicaid costs because the fed bought off for their votes with special deals.

There are so many things bad about this and the way it was done it is really a travesty.

On the bright side I think Obama will be a 1 term president, Pelosi won't be speaker of the house, and that Reid will be gone too.

I could go on but don't want to be compared with Tirun so I will stop now

I don't live in the US. but can't you still get paid health care of your choice from a private medical insurance company?

Whats the point of doing that? you are forced to pay for the health care now, it comes out of the taxes so why pay even more money for a different insurance company when you already have health insurance

I couldn't agree more. Obama talked about change his whole campaign. "Spreading the wealth around" (Joe the Plumber). He even said that we needed a national police force as well equipped as the military (dictatorship? I think so).

But anyways back on topic : Health Care = bad for america, and hopefully the supreme court finds it unconstitutional.

no, this healthc are bill is bad for america. bcus atm poor people dont have to have insurance, but if they go to a hospital the hospital has no choice but to treat them if they are sick. with this health bill everyone has to pay it in there taxes, no matter what, so this is gonna mean poor people will get health care, but now people who actually have jobs are gonna have to pay for it now.

Yes, he also made and gave out all kinds of money to everyone, it was meant for people to go splurge on stuff to boost the economy, but you know damn well people paid off bills. it was a very stupid idea. he is only cutting taxes more to get people to like him, so that he could pass that stupid bill

Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness

These are the rights we have. The biggest problem I have with Obamacare is the fact that we do not have the right to healthcare. We have the right to purse personal healthcare as part of our pursuit of happiness and life, but it is not a right. Once we start claiming that we do have the right to healthcare that means we are claiming that we have the right to part of someone else's life....

Doctors, nurses, etc. all go to school and spend money and time to become trained enough to treat you properly. Now we are starting down the path of forcing them to treat who the government says they can or cannot treat, charge what the government decides they should charge, be located where the government decides they should be located, have hours the government wants them to have and on and on.

This means we as a people are claiming the right to part of that doctors life....kinda like a paid slavery. Sure they can leave and go do something else(for now) and I think you will see many of them do just that in the next few years, they are smart enough to know when they are about to be royally shafted. Many of them will pry move their practice to elsewhere, then they can charge what they please and work on their own time schedule.

And what about you personally? Very soon you will see that you can't just go to the doctor you'd like to, you'll have to go to the doctor chosen for you by the government. So the nice doctor you've had for the last 20 years will call you up one day and say sorry you now have to go to doctor quaky down the street, I've been told I can only do your friends on this side of town. Oh and by the way that new medicine we put you on well the government has decided it's to expensive and they can't give it to everyone so you can't get it anymore even though it's the only thing that has worked for you. Oh and p.s. the government now has a rating system and since your older and don't "contribute" to bring in more taxes for them well your not as important now you'll have to wait longer for all your treatments the 20 yr old next door needs it more then you do.........they have more taxable years ahead of them.

just some thoughts....repeal this bill!!!!!!!!!!

I think it's quite funny really. Here in Denmark we don't have a free market healthcare. The state owns/runs/plans the whole show, and it's funded with tax money.

Then along comes US, land of capitalism, and decides that everyone should get healthcare. Instead of doing the logical thing, abolishing the freemarket for healthcare, they statesponsor certain companies..

Yeah but we don't pay 40% income tax and 25% sales tax.

In Denmark, some lazy fuck who won't get a job will still get enough money from the state, while someone who works hard is punished for making more money.

some lazy fuck wouldnt get money from the state, they examine a individual first, see if he's capable of getting a job, if he can, no free money

if not (due to some illness or handicap) they'll give him/her money

like in England there was a guy who pretended he had something with his legs and couldnt work and got money from the government, so one day he pops up in idols or popstar dancing around.. he had to pay all the money back

and imo its a good thing that those with more money get "punished" more, they still end up with way more then the rest while helping the nation more

maybe the US wouldnt be in an economic crisis if everyone would stop being selfish

economy can only exist if there is money flowing around, whats the purpose of an economy if everyone keeps their money to themself?

what Obama did is a good thing, lets say you bought your shotgun from the $400 bucks, that money would go to the shop who sold it, who can use it to pay taxes and pay their employees (keeping them from being fired) and used to buy more shotguns from the factory, which also use it to pay taxes and employees

he did it to jumpstart the economy, instead of sitting around waiting till everyones misery is over

face it, the economy is based on money going around, if theres money flowing around slowly you will get a recession, thats why EL's economy never been good

if there is alot of gc in game its divided poorly, cause in the end the Gc is worth so much cause they arent able to make it they start paying $ for it, and that cuts into your shop sales

If you're lazy you won't recieve much. The government won't let you starve, but that's about it. Everyone that CAN work will work, if there is jobs avaiable.

If you want a good society it costs. You are so afraid of socialism, yet the more socialistic countries has performed WAY better than USA in most aspects. Ever thought about why there is so much crime/poverty/misery over there? There is a reason why socialism is strong - everyone should have a decent living.

Obama isn't a socialist, heck, over here he'd probably fit best in the liberal-conservative party. He's a white american disguised in a "poor old slaves" body, essentially betraying his own people. Talking about change like a left-wing revolutionary while still playing the game of the big corporations, pathetic. I give more credits to the old-school conservatives, atleast you know where they stand.

The tax rate in the states is a lot less then most other G8 countrys indeed.Though I must ask. How much does decent Health care insurance cost for an average family of 4 people? What happens to non-lazy people that get sick, and the HMO had refused to pay for the treatment?
