Are you addicted to EL?

Recommended Posts

Wrote these awhile ago, and thought some could relate to them... : )

You might be addicted to EL when:

-you find something you want to buy IRL and think you should check with rraisa first to see if you are getting it at the best price

-While you're sitting at your desk at work and you press control-N thinking it might toggle the names over the heads of those people in your office who's names you can't remember

-you start to wonder if it would be very hard to get some real iron ore and coal and make some steel bars in your garage.

-you're now on your "nth" computer since you started playing EL.

-your idea of a good dream consists of seeing the words "<your ELname> has found a rostogol stone!"

-your idea of a nightmare is you accidentally bump into an armed orc and you see "you failed to flee!" over and over until you find yourself surrounded by lava and bones with nothing left in your bag.

-you're digging in your backyard and you swear you caught a glimpse of some kind of colorful stone so you keep digging until the neighbors start to notice.

-you wake up in the morning and the first thing you think about is what skill you'll try to level up in today.

-you go to bed and think about what you accomplished in the day, you measure your success by how many levels or experience you gained in EL.

-you don't go to bed at all. Only more EL until you have to go back to work...

-you're out around town somewhere IRL running an errand and everywhere you go you seem to notice the flowers that are around...

-you notice a red rose or a snapdragon bush somewhere and you find yourself wanting to jot down the coordinates, or mark it on "the map."

-your stomach is aching of hunger and you can't figure out why because your food level is at 45.

-you start to wonder if you could really eat a bone for dinner and if it would taste very good.

-you walk into a public place and you sit down on the floor cross-legged to be polite. Everyone stares at you in confusion.

-you are in the produce section of the supermarket and you start to pick up some fruit and for split second you expect to see the "harvesting effect"

-you go to the zoo and when you see the bear, wolf, or puma, you wonder what it would be like to actually punch and kick it to death.

-you see someone wearing a swanky outfit at work and start to wonder if there's a way you could get it for your el character.

-someone asks you how your day was IRL and you want to blurt out how you made 50Kgc making steel bars and how you killed your first fluffy, and how you made an enriched fire essence, but then remember it might not mean that much to them and it would take hours to really explain it all..so instead you say, "fine."

-you do something that takes skill at work and when you complete it, you look up above your head and watch for the experience amount to appear and rise up until it disappears.

-you have to read a book for your job or school and wonder if there is a place you can go that will enable you to read it 10 times faster than normal.

-all of your friends are not only human, but elves, dwarves, draegoni, or gnomes and live thousands of miles away, maybe even on different continents and you realize you don't even know their real names, ages, or what they even look like.

-you're at work and every top of the hour, you feel like you're wasting time if you don't get out and harvest something... anything.

-you go to leave your house and grab your keys and wallet and wonder if you should grab some HE's just in case.

-you've fought so many female orcs you start thinking that they are hot.

I love this game.

Amusing, but not realistic for me personally.

The one thing I do notice is a brief wonder at what's coming next when I see a digital clock at 5:59 (or close to that). I have to smile anytime I catch myself doing that.
