Crafteresses, Crafters, stand up and protest !

Recommended Posts

Some fellow Crafter (Gaiafist from EG, not to name him - I like him very much, we share a common interest in Ladies and... Errrm, irrelevant, sorry) and I have discussed a little about this. The Crafting skill is not rewarding at all, since we cannot sell rings or meds to NPC's, and end-items are hard to sell to people as well...

I have thought about some improvement to make that skill a little more profitable...

1°) Empty vials.

How I long for a way to make those hell of empty vials by myself. Well, there is already some clue to an easy-to-implement combo...

First, a new knowledge would be required to make empty vials. Let's call it "Quartz Processing", and let it require the "Crystal Processing" technology to be studied. It would be in a black book buyable from Gorlic or, more logically, Harvy himself. Or we could imagine it can be a rare book one can get from gargoyles or skeletons or other mid-level monsters.

Then, let's consider this : Harvy asks for 5 quartz crystals and 3 gold coins to make one empty vial. What about this ?

*) Empty vial.

Materials : 5 quartz crystals, 2 earth essences.

Tools : Mortar and pestle.

Food consumed : 10.

Required nexus : Artificial 3.

Required technology : Quartz Processing (<- Crystal Processing <- Crystal Technology).

Recommended level : Crafting 15.

Experience gained : Crafting +50, Alchemy +25.

It would make the earth essences useful, and I don't think apprentice alchemists would complain about it. :)

Of course, one could say it requires fire essences because of the heat needed to smelt sand but... Quartz ain't no sand, right ?

2°) Cloaks !!!

This may be the most daring suggestion I'll make. Allowing Crafters to make cloaks, oh the bliss ! :)

Look, this could be an additional knowledge tree related to the crafting of cloaks.

Tailoring

.....-> Hides Tanning

..........=> Bear Hide Tanning

..........=> Deer Hide Tanning

..........=> Wolf Hide Tanning

.....-> Cloak Work

..........=> Excavator Cloak

..........=> Power Saving Cloak

..........=> etc.

I'd well see Henrik sell those books. Of course, there are "rare" cloaks, that you can only get from monsters. It sounds logical that books related to those cloaks be rare books as well.

Recipes for the "skins" :

It would require a new tool, a scraper, that Henrik could sell...

*) Deer skin.

Materials : 1 deer fur, 1 air essence.

Tool : 1 scraper.

Required nexus : none.

Required technology : Deer Hide Tanning (<- Hides Tanning <- Tailoring).

Food consumed : 7.

Recommended level : Manufacture 11.

Experience gained : Manufacture +55.

*) Wolf skin.

Materials : 1 wolf fur, 2 air essences.

Tool : 1 scraper.

Required nexus : none.

Required technology : Wolf Hide Tanning (<- Hides Tanning <- Tailoring).

Food consumed : 8.

Recommended level : Manufacture 13.

Experience gained : Manufacture +65.

*) Bear skin.

Materials : 1 bear fur, 3 air essences.

Tool : 1 scraper.

Required nexus : none.

Required technology : Bear Hide Tanning (<- Hides Tanning <- Tailoring).

Food consumed : 9.

Recommended level : Manufacture 11.

*) Power Saving Cloak (gray cloak).

Required nexus : Artificial 4, Magic 4.

*) Monster Magnetism (green cloak).

Food consumed : 43.

Recommended level : Crafting 40.

Experience gained : Crafting +180.

Of course :

1°) This is but a suggestion.

2°) The recipes could probably be improved, balanced.

3°) I did not lay it like that, it took some days to gather my thoughts and organize them.

4°) No point 4°)

5°) This could give some use to earth and air essences, and to animal skins as well.

6°) See point 4°)

7°) Thank you very much for reading that far.

Yeah, I agree that crafter is not a rewarding profession... It is VERY hard to make a ring and you cannot sell it for a high price because the portland shop sells it for a not so high price... Another suggestion is that rings should be more expensive at the shop... And, of course, the sop could buy rings and medalions...

I liked the suggestions too...

Vials okay but cloaks no!

If we make cloaks manufacturable everybody will have them very fast. And also buying a cloak takes money out of the game which is good for the balance.

Actually i do like how it is now with the cloaks.

I agree that more needs to be done for crafters, but i disagree with the cloaks- as said before we'll have everyone running around wtih one, making the perks themself obsolete(which I think should not have been made the same as the cloaks in teh first place).

I think woodworking should go into the crafting skill. Making wooden staffs, shields, bows(but only for p2p) & arrows.

maybe its best if some items are totaly removed from the shops and rahter put into the hands of the crafts and manus?

like some other post i made, the npc shops could act as a middleground, sell to the shop and it goes into a pool, buy from the shop and it comes out of the pool. or you just buy from a char...

Woodworking ?

You'll make a happy crafter here with that. I have a love for woodworking IRL, though I'm a poor sculptor...

Will that mean new materials to harvest (lumber ?), new tools (axe ? wood chisel ?) ?
