1v1 arena to the death

Just an idea but one thing that puts me off pk is the fact i always get gang banged lol, would it not be possible to make some kind of arena where it is no drop and impossible to escape once the fight has started, ofc no exp could be gained in the arean so it wouldnt become a haven for pvp. and it could be even better if there was some npc that you could maybe type the name of the 2 people intending to fight (for maybe a small fee) this way people could agree to fight to the death with the person chosen.

 

i also think it could help encourage non pkers to give it a try and develope pk skills they otherwise wouldnt have because in my experience they get pissed off with pk before they have a chance to develope any skill, in time once they have the skill maybe they would venture into normal pk more often.

 

i think this could also be cool in the sence that it could attract an audience for big fights. and would suggest NC arena would be a great place for it

 

if its a dumb idea i apologise in advance im a mixer and harvester not a pker, though do find pk interesting.

 

edit: the npc could maybe even charge a higher price and half the gc goes to the winner the other half leaves the game

It can give you exp since you cant flee imo, and NCa still gets uses everyonce in a while, maybe use WSa. Like the idea tho.

Its not a dumb idea, its a great one, so great in fact it was deemed 'been suggested before S34rCh!" in teh dark ages.

 

Although you didn't use the words duel arena, dueling, this is basically what you are asking for,

unless I am mistaken :P

I like the idea. But mario is right, exp is not a problem, it is not worth it to have to die after the first round of pvp'ing. I say keep it simple tho, no trying to force agreements on equipment restrictions, at most, maybe utilize gossip for people who want to find a fight ( like the match command).

and if i had found them its unlikely i would have read all that just to find the idea's where similar and if i did i would have then had to kidnap someone elses thread causeing people to read more than they have to , and besides the possibilties and attitudes of the game change over time as the game and games possibilities change... its always worth mentioning some ideas even if similar was mentioned in the past :o (example) how many times where people shot down for having ideas to make running available in game only to be answered ..search is your friend and besides its impossible.... yet it happened and became possible :) (then didnt lol) on my 1st day off work i will take the time to read the other suggestions maybe there is ideas there that could be added to this to make it even better.

 

i also agree now that the exp would not matter.. like i said i was in a rush and hadnt thought it through completely .. sowwy :)

Yeah, I didn't post because I'm a search-nazi :), only to say its a great idea

and perhaps, in all of our suggestions over the years, exists a work-able solution

that could be developed.

 

Your post is short and sweet, a way to fight (one or more) people, in a

pre-arranged contest without outside intervention. Plus you covered wagering in your edit,

not all of us have the free time to write epic posts :bow_arrow:

 

Asgnny's idea probably is the most recent and probably the most timely with the current development

of EL. Since we have a 'instance' for PvE, it seems reasonable the system exists to make this

PvP as well.

 

On leaving it in player's hands:

I don't think leaving it in the hands of the players, to form duels

will ever work, good will and any noble combat does not exist in pk in any game.

 

All of the agreed duels I have personally experienced in the past, were merely set-ups.

NCa is THE place where someone hides behind a wall, and the -dueling- party is jumped by

his -partners- friends. KF never faired any better, so a new arena will not solve the pk setups

of the past. Also I don't claim any sort of personal honor in this at all, I have jumped many people

there myself, playing my boogieman role of an assassin (or asshat depending on your perspective). B)

Most relevant previous discussion I recall would be the "Duel feature implementation" topic.

 

For the system to support duelling, I would favour reusing the "trade" window. This would allow the players to accept a duel, as well as placing a stake on the outcome (which would be removed to a "safe place" if the challenge is accepted). Of course, fleeing would count as losing the fight.

This would be a very nice feature, though if it where implemented, there should be a level limit (say overall 50) to challange someone to a duel. This of course so people dont get spammed by noobs that try to duel you over and over and over and over and...
