i broke the rule "no hacking"

Recommended Posts

Hi,

i left EL some months ago. A "friend" asked me to give him my char so he can play.

I accepted. Trying to log in some months later, I have seen that he changed

the password of MY character. Well, desperate times invoke desperate measures,

so i started to try to get my password back on an "unappropriate" way. I broke

rule #18 just maybe in the point, that i interfered the transmissions. BUT i didnt try

to hack someone elses character. I am sorry for having done this, but i have seen

no other way. I did many mistakes (giving out password, hack-trials, ...), and i am

sorry! It just overwhelmes me how easily i can loose all my chars :-(

Well, something else to notice:

When I read rule #18 until the end, it is obvious that my "friend" broke also the rules.

I want ask you admins why could he change my password? Aislinn said me that

Entropy wouldnt change passwords when the char is used by multiple IPs...

but how could my password be changed??

Nevermind. I am sorry for what i've done.

My fortune is in your hands.

If you gave him your password to play on the char with, he has every right to change that password! By giving him the password you have given him permission to do ANYTHING he wants with the character, even deleting it! At the point you let him use the character, it is no longer 'your character'.

How could you think that what you were trying to do would even be legal?

But when i gave him my password, two persons know this password.

And he doesn't own the character more than me. And who broke the

rules first? The one who convinced to give out the password (breaks

rule #18) or the one who gives out the password (breaks rule #4).

How could you think that what you were trying to do would even be legal?

I never thought that, and i confess that it was a mistake..sry

Anyone who can log in to a character can change the password with the #change_pass command. As per rule 4 you lose your character when you share your password:

4. Do Not Give Out Your Password.

Once you give your password out to anyone, even for the purpose of character sharing, you relinquish all rights to that character. Eternal Lands is not responsible for the return of your character or account, or for the actions of your character once you have disclosed your password.

I guess i have to accept that. The worst way to learn those rules is

by experiencing them. And even worse is that this character is

never played. Once more i want to excuse me for any mistake i did!

Well, my last sentences:

I confess that i did many mistakes. If i would ever

have the possibility again, i will never do them again.

I gonna obey any rule. It's up to you admins, how

my EL future looks like: IP ban, banned chars, or

even free playing. I thank you for taking care for

me and the rest EL community.

I might be willing to give you a limited one more chance, that is, to whitelist ONE NEW character from your IP. But if I see any new attempts to interfere with the communication with the server, that's it.
