Make rare/Fail indicatros

I don't understand, while making other indicators can be economically reasonable, why the most useful indicator of the game is not so?

if 2 polished saphires in the formula changes to 1, this all can be good, like other indicators at least...

Because they are the most useful indicators in the game -- hence, you have enough an incentive for making them already. To have that functionality available, you have to pay a price (namely, the delta between the cost of producing them and the price at which they can be sold to the NPC).

 

On the other hand, there is a constant demand for make rare/failure indicators by players, and you can make your own price when dealing with players. I am afraid we will not have any highly useful item which can be made cheaply and sold for a good profit anytime soon.

Ok, tell me at what price you sell your make rare indicators? :D Don't forget that the NPC sells them for 50 each and you really can't sell upper than that, so you will lose a lot, just those two polished gems cost more than 40gcs so it's really useless to make them for sale...

No, the two polished sapphires value is 44gc, because you can sell them for that amount; the cost for making them is 20gc (for the two sanding papers). All other ingredients have a value as well, but their strict cost is 0 (you can harvest ingredients and food and mix your own - it just depends on how much you value your time). So, you have an option: either sell the sapphires, cash in the 44gc and be happy, or use them to make make rare/failure indicators, loosing on potential income, gaining the engineering xp, and sell them for maybe 55-60gc to new players in C1 (the extra +5gc or +10gc being due to the convenience for them of not having to go to Urania for their shopping).

 

Of course, I agree that it doesn't make sense to make them for sale: as I said above, you will not have good exp, usefulness, and good value together in the same item, that would be too good to be true. :wub:
