warder Report post Posted June 30, 2008 hi all, I've been playing EL off and on for about 5 years, maybe a little more, and until recently I've never had aproblem getting the game loaded. I decided to start playing again so I downloaded the client and ran it. This is the first time I've ran EL on my new laptop. (dell inspiron 1501) and after I log in it acts like it completely loads before it shows this. I read the forums a bit and did the usual, uninstalled than reinstalled, made sure the right ports were opne, firewall was off all of that and I still can't get on. Please help
The_Piper Report post Posted June 30, 2008 Sounds like a problem with the driver for your graphics card, try to update it. If that doesnt help, post some more infos about your hardware here, like the graphics card/adapter which is used in your laptop. And, btw, choose a stronger/longer password in the future Piper

The_Piper Report post Posted July 1, 2008 Did you update the driver for your graphics card already? If yes, and that didnt help, here is a link, where you can download the Omega driver for ATI cards, maybe that helps. http://www.eternal-lands.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=30465 Piper

Schmurk Report post Posted July 3, 2008 If you can't find a suitable driver, you can also try to rename the shaders directory in the directory where you've installed EL to something else and see if that helps...

The_Piper Report post Posted July 3, 2008 (edited) [18:51:00] Warning: Didn't find your data_dir, using the current directory instead. Please correct this in your el.ini . Given data_dir was: "d:\Eternal Lands" I think, this is your main problem, your el.ini file is messed up. Its stored in C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\My Documents\Eternal Lands\main, if i'm not mistaken. Open it with notepad, search for "#data_dir" and change the path there to your actual installation, since "d:\Eternal Lands" doesnt work. Piper Edit: correct path for el.ini now. warder Report post Posted July 3, 2008 I know i'm computer illiterate for the most part but how do I do that
The_Piper Report post Posted July 3, 2008 Honestly, if you dont know, how to find and edit a file on your computer, you should ask someone to help you. If i would even try to explain that for you, that would cause more damage than doing good. Sorry, Piper
