Do you think 1 million is enough to live on? retire on? make babies and pay for school on?

making babies doesnt cost money... unless you plan on having a baby with a prostitute, or use a condom... which kinda defeats the purpose ^^

LOL the United States already has one of the best health care systems in the world. Why do you think people from countries with nationalized health care choose to pay out of their own pocket to come here and receive treatment?

lol, that really gave me a good laugh. Don't you even know the difference between a banana republic with a national health care and a stinking rich minority which could effort to go to the states for medical treatment and some developed states who care about their ppl and even try to cure the ones who doesnt have the money to pay for medical treatment?

Don't believe me look it up those with the money to do so come here.... for the moment.

Yeah, and those whithout money can suck off and die. Is it that, what you want to tell us?

Besides if our government can't get Social Security right what makes anyone think that adding a est. $1.6Trillion(for the next 10 years, {Triple last 8 years in Iraq fyi}) national health care system on top of that will be any better?

Because it's better to invest money to help your own ppl instead of investing money in killing other ppl and steal their resources/properties/whatever. If you don't get this argument, get your gun and go to Afghanistan and get shot, and the world will be a better place without you. Seriously.

And as far as Taxes go yes I understand people in some other countries do pay higher taxes, I have lived overseas for over 10 years of my life. So I pry understand better then most American's international issues and what a great thing we have here in the USA. But personally I would rather pay a higher price for something I want and choose, and donate or spend money with places I want to succeed, or pay for the health care I choose rather then see the government take the money I make and tell me where I should spend it or who it should go to. Personally I would prefer Joe Blow down the street go and get his own job and make his own money rather then me support him and his 6 kids through government supported programs. And yes I do live down the street from several Joe Blows who already LIVE OFF THE GOVERNMENT, why enable him even more with a government run health care system.(pretty soon he'll be asking for a free computer to play EL on, and wanting me to come over and sit his kids for free while he does that.)

Strange, but i somehow have to agree with that point, or, at least, i understand your argumentation. Your argument is doing a lot of things for charity, if you want to do that. The other side of the medal, yes, ebul socialism, p43ar that!!!!!!, is, that the government, takes your money and does charity for you. By supporting ppl who can't make enough money on their own, for whatever reasons.

Of course, such a system, where the government does charity, will and can be abused, and your Joe Blow will ask you to buy a comp for him to play EL and do babysitting while he is playing EL.

On the other hand, you dont know, if you give some bucks to a beggar sitting in the street, if its not a millionaire in disguise.

Both systems have their pro and cons unfortunately.

There is enough opportunity in this country you can do whatever the hell you want to make an honest buck. I by no means have a high paying job (my wife and I combined up until last year were considered blow the poverty line!) but I meet my bills every month, paid my own way through college, save some for the future, buy some nice things for my wife and daughter on occasion and I'm happy. I Do Not Believe it is the function of the government to allocate my money. But apparently there is a large group of people in my country who are not smart enough or don't care enough manage their own finances and would prefer the government do it for them.

Heck the Colonies broke from England over a total tax of 2.6%......

(and yes I do support local businesses, I do support charities, I do volunteer my time to help the needy)

So it's easy for Joe Blow to get a job in the states, where he can make a living from?

Sorry, maybe the news i see/read here everyday say, that the economy in the states is breaking down.

A lot of ppl lost their job, their home, and now have to eat grass, because their jobs went to mexico, south america, asia, because of this free trade issue.

Not that i say, that the news i get here are such neutral, or even true, but i think, that the picturue you have from the US is simply wrong.

Now shoot me.

He's referring to the controversy where there are no birth records for Obama in Hawaii, which is claimed to be his birth state. If he wasn't born in Hawaii, where was he born?

Obama's birthplace

Seriously... That's not his real birth certificate... His birth name was Barry, not Barack..

Plus, if you zoom in, and look around his name and birth place, you can see some pixelation from editing ^^' Pixelation which doesn't appear around anything else...

He was born in the US, but he was born with an indian citizenship (The only way he could go to school in India).. I've seen multiple complaints about this....

Its late, so my eyes may be playing tricks on me ^^' I'll check back tomorrow, until then, feel free to disprove me ^^'

I think I would be inclined to agree with you having read this argument.

However, I found this page which seems to be pretty convincing.

I am however, convinced that the Democrats would have done their homework and had him thoroughly checked out before allowing him to stand on their ticket.

I can't believe some people are still scared. The media must be doing their job.

Why the fuck shouldn't we be scared? So far, Obama's voting record is pretty much in line with Bush on all the important issues (the war, USA Patriot act, bailout, retroactive immunity for the spying telecoms, and so on). The only times he disagreed was when Bush wanted to do something good, like privatize parts of the social security.

And now this shithead wants to help those with mortgage problems. So those who bought houses they couldn't afford will be helped, and those who were smart and saved money to buy a house they can afford will be fucked. Nice way to promote mediocrity.

You will see how much US will suck under Obama. Most of those who voted for him (or for McCain), have no clue about the economy.

The thing j0 dont get about medi care in the usa, is you already have it! just one probelm, not everyone gets the benifits...Everytime you buy a US product, and the company that makes it give Heath care coverage to its employees, covers that cost by the cusomer. That means all governemts employies, ford, gm, exx0n, jo name the big company that offers medical plan, j0 the cusomer pays for it. So what really is the difference if you pay into a national program, that provides the same coverage nationlay?

You are wrong. Not all the businesses offer healthcare. I for one am uninsured, because I decided that it's worth taking the risk for now (and we don't make that much money either). Why should Obama force us to pay for the health insurance, then claim: "ZOMG, I gave everyoen free healthcare!1!!!".

Now, what he could do is make an OPTIONAL government sponsored healthcare, where you chose to pay (or not) a certain amount every month, and if you do pay, you get free (or low cost) drugs and treatment in state run hospitals.

Also, regarding your "you pay for the healthcare by the products you buy", that's not true. Many products are not made in the US, and you still have a choice of buying the products or not.

Well, I came in the US less than 6 years ago, no formal education (I don't even have a HS diploma), and yet somehow I managed to make it. So if some foreigner with no studies can make it, I am sure Joe Blow can make it here too.

I am very much a capitalist but I would not describe myself as 'right wing'

You say that Obama is going to force 'us' into paying for health insurance, but I think for someone like you, the only change will be that now a rich person will be paying for your health insurance, you will pick up either none or very little of the bill.

What you all need to understand is that almost all of you will now be better off over the course of your life if Obama gtets his way, you need to stop dreaming and realise a good thing when it comes to you.

To any rich people, dont worry too much, wealth inequality in Britain has increased in 7 of the 10 years since we elected a Labour (more socialist) government.

I am right wing when it comes to the economy, and very libertarian when it comes to civic freedoms.

And how the hell is that good? If I ever become rich (and I am working hard for that), why should I pay for the healthcare of an asshole that sits on his ass the whole day long?

What you all need to understand is that almost all of you will now be better off over the course of your life if Obama gtets his way, you need to stop dreaming and realise a good thing when it comes to you.

You don't understand how the economy works. If the government forces the rich people to pay for the poor, then many people will not want to become rich in the first place, so that means a lot of potential jobs will be lost (why should I expand my business and hire people, if by doing so I'll have to pay much higher taxes?).

We have somewhat similar views then. This is what i would call 'real' liberalism, since by definition liberalism should involve a high level of economic freedom.

This is a very valid argument and one i use against some of my socialist friends. I am also a firm believer in trickle down economics, something that socialists would dismiss, though they have no real arguments against it.

national healthcare is the ONLY socialist policy i would think of supporting, and ideally i would like to see it completely restructured in the UK because i dont think the current system is right. The problem is that if whether you work hard or not is your choice, largely, as is the house you choose to buy and the car you chose to drive. Getting an illness is far more random, though not completely, and through no fault of your own a lot of 'liberties', maybe even as basic as being able to leave your own home, can be taken away from you, and i dont believe this should be allowed to happen in cases where it can be prevented.
