I voted for Bob Barr, but he didn't get any states :icon13: but its all good couldn't vote for the "big 2" with a clean conscience so at least i feel warm and fuzzy inside even though there will be a very bleak 4 years ahead of me...

This is great! Now Obama can spread the wealth around by taxing our businesses... forcing them to fire us, raise their prices, and go under or move to China. Yay! :icon13:

Seriously, though... Blech...

Oh, and be prepared for that terrorist attack that Joe Biden warned about. :D

Edit: I think I'll move to Ireland! They don't tax businesses over there, and abortion is still illegal.

and abortion is still illegal.

You mean you think it's ok for a 14 year old girl to get raped, and then be forced to actually have that baby? And you think it´s ok for a father to abuse his mentally challenged daughter and for her to have to give birth to that?

on topic, I'm in Holland, for as long as I can remember I have supported the Democratic candidates that were in the running, must be something about the uptightness the Republicans seem to have and the way I was raised in a very liberal country and culture. I admit, I haven´t look into too much of the details, but I think Obama is gonna be good for the USA.. so long as they leave him do his job and not everyone goes digging for corrupcy dirt and personal life dramas. Time will tell :icon13:

shit

barack won

he still hasn't proved he is an american citizen yet tho

I think this is a rather prejudiced comment.

What colour is his passport? How does one 'prove' that he is American?

The last time I checked, the only requirement was to be born in the USA - which is easily proven.

Change You Can Believe In

and a forum post you can come back to in 4 years time ........

Did he ever mention it was going to be change for the better btw ? or just general change of a non descript variety ?

Of course you can believe in allsorts of change but I tell you what isnt going to change ........

1. The price of a good donut , gotta keep em happy with sugar while you get away with shit ........

2. Guantanamo Bay , but perhaps he will change the stance of the US which has been completely ignoring the Geneva Convention on how to treat prisoners of war ( after World War 2 some high ranking Japanese Military Officials were hung by the neck for allowing the use of Water Boarding on P.O.W's , but yeh thats right they are NOT P.O.W's they are Enemy Combatants, sure )

3. Bohemian Grove , that place in California where T.H.E.Y ( the heirarchy enslaving you ) mock sacrafice a human to an ancient Babylonian Deity named Moloch who in the days of old was given sacrafices of real people to placate him ( if you dont believe me then check it out :icon13: , its called the Cremation of Care at Bohemian Grove, California - google is your friend) now you go look that up and then tell me that its all just a bit of fun, nothing to worry about that your heads of state and business are pretending to sacrafice a human being to an ancient Babylonian Deity called Moloch, sure

4. The Truth, thats not going to change at all ...... and the truth is the Western World is sleep walking into a Big Brother World Government , with a One World Army , a One World Currency and a Micro Chipped Population. No, im not wearing a tinfoil hat , im telling you something you probably dont want to hear and so you dismiss it as insanity , sure

5. Global Warming ! PANICK !!!! The END IS NIGH !!!! But Obama knows what to do about it, yes, hes going to tax the shit out of you before we all die ....... just like every other country .... hmmm ... no global agenda I hear you say ? sure !

6. FEAR , that wont change either, everyday you are going to be bombarded with reasons to be worried. The economy/ climate change/ bird flu / terrorists / crazy loners with sniper rifles / muggers ( lots of them ) / IMMIGRANTS !!! damn them !!! all they do is cause more FEAR and all they want to do is live like you do / Gay Gods who dislike Gay People for being Gay (made in his own Gay image ) / Price of Food / Price of Gas / Unsightly Female Facial Hair / Going Bald / Not Having The Best Shit That You Dont Really Need Anyway / Not looking like those pretty folks in the magazines /

The List is endless , and if you are worried about it all, they got ya .......... fo sure

7. Barack Obama , he isnt going to change a fucking thing , instead he is going to roll out the agenda as allways , same as usual , pretend to be a good guy through it all, justify everything he does as for the security of the nation and before you know it 4 years has passed and everyone is so pissed off at him they want a new president, but what happens is the voting machine conveniently break when anyone votes for the other guy .......... sure ........

He's referring to the controversy where there are no birth records for Obama in Hawaii, which is claimed to be his birth state. If he wasn't born in Hawaii, where was he born?

Where was he born?

In the next 4 years it will doubtlessly turn from Hawaii (go get him Duane Lee!) to Jerusalem in a manger:

"Jesus Christ what have you done to the economy"/"Jesus Christ the word is pronounced new-klee-ar"

etc etc.

Is that the same story as that imaginary hospital in Panama, where McCain was born?

Maybe one candidate you were voting for, was born on mars and the other one on the dark side of the moon?

Obama's birthplace

It also seems that the main issue was actually the age of his mother when he was born, not the place of his birth!

In any case, I expect that he has already satisfied his party as to his eligibility, as I doubt they would expose themselves to any potential embarassment.

maybe this comment is just asking for trouble, but i like controversy so here goes.

don't christians pretend to eat the flesh and drink the blood of a man who died nearly 2000 years ago? and being christian seems to be a prequesite to any political position in the US.

im glad obama won, he seems the most sensible of the two, but neither represent my political views. hopefully his foriegn policy wont be quite as aggressive as his predescessor.

Another time for us dumb europeans to learn from the all-so-wise United States what democracy really is about. :pickaxe:

i studdy law and therefore electoral system, and IMO the electoral system is much more democratic in Europe than in the USA., just look at what happened with Kerry/Bush

Obama wins!! Hopefully he can get this world in order!!!!!!

i hope too, i have been reading most of the topic and i see people up cheering for mac cain, imo, just the fact of him driving his campaign like that made me feel bad, how could you vote for someone that kept insulting his opponent anyway. (and i'm not talking about his ideas on Irak, economy "the basis of our economy is strong" day after, krach in wall street, and Palin...)

Well.... I think it will be interesting in one year to see what people are saying about Obama. I was thinking about starting my own business and now I might still but I'm afraid of how many taxes I'll have to pay. (and yes even though I would be a small business I would have offered health care for my employees as it is a great incentive for keeping people long term)

Anyways If the nationalized health care goes through anyone want to move to a remote island and rename it Seridia? We can start our own gov. :pickaxe:

I can't believe some people are still scared. The media must be doing their job.

This election is very good for America, for many reasons, just ask people outside who are looking in.

We'll revisit this thread in a year to see how everybody is doing. I think many people here will have a new faith in America once they see what it can be like.

I've followed this guy for many years as a local politician, he is the real deal. A real leader can stir people, how many new voters did he bring to the polls? Did you see the election party in Grant Park? over 100k enthusiastic supporters.

Maybe I will eat my words, maybe the cowards will run out of the country, maybe people won't be able to start businesses, maybe we will all become baby killing homosexuals.

I doubt it.

LOL the United States already has one of the best health care systems in the world. Why do you think people from countries with nationalized health care choose to pay out of their own pocket to come here and receive treatment? Don't believe me look it up those with the money to do so come here.... for the moment.

Besides if our government can't get Social Security right what makes anyone think that adding a est. $1.6Trillion(for the next 10 years, {Triple last 8 years in Iraq fyi}) national health care system on top of that will be any better?

And as far as Taxes go yes I understand people in some other countries do pay higher taxes, I have lived overseas for over 10 years of my life. So I pry understand better then most American's international issues and what a great thing we have here in the USA. But personally I would rather pay a higher price for something I want and choose, and donate or spend money with places I want to succeed, or pay for the health care I choose rather then see the government take the money I make and tell me where I should spend it or who it should go to. Personally I would prefer Joe Blow down the street go and get his own job and make his own money rather then me support him and his 6 kids through government supported programs. And yes I do live down the street from several Joe Blows who already LIVE OFF THE GOVERNMENT, why enable him even more with a government run health care system.(pretty soon he'll be asking for a free computer to play EL on, and wanting me to come over and sit his kids for free while he does that.)

There is enough opportunity in this country you can do whatever the hell you want to make an honest buck. I by no means have a high paying job (my wife and I combined up until last year were considered blow the poverty line!) but I meet my bills every month, paid my own way through college, save some for the future, buy some nice things for my wife and daughter on occasion and I'm happy. I Do Not Believe it is the function of the government to allocate my money. But apparently there is a large group of people in my country who are not smart enough or don't care enough manage their own finances and would prefer the government do it for them.

Heck the Colonies broke from England over a total tax of 2.6%......

(and yes I do support local businesses, I do support charities, I do volunteer my time to help the needy)

lol.. that wasn´t about the irish.. that was about there at least being certain circumstances where abortion should be the only option. But that of course, is just my opinion.

You obviously confuse a few excellent specialists with a health care system :)

That's kind of like saying just because some of the world's best universities are in the USA it has the best public education, where in fact public education in the USA is rather mediocre as international studies show.

But hey, that's going to change or maybe not :)

Without reading the rest of your post. While I get about 10k chainmails about "zomg, my child is sick and needs treatment in USA, plx send this on for money from google. :'(" I read the news a while ago, where it stated that a woman in America sold all her properties there to move to Belgium and get treated here because she'd have a lot more support from the health care system.

So um yeah.. lol.

The thing j0 dont get about medi care in the usa, is you already have it! just one probelm, not everyone gets the benifits...Everytime you buy a US product, and the company that makes it give Heath care coverage to its employees, covers that cost by the cusomer. That means all governemts employies, ford, gm, exx0n, jo name the big company that offers medical plan, j0 the cusomer pays for it. So what really is the difference if you pay into a national program, that provides the same coverage nationlay?

I live down the street from 100 millionaires

I am a Millionaire

Do you think 1 million is enough to live on? retire on? make babies and pay for school on?

Health care is equal to public education..a country gets 10 fold thier investment in these areas.

We all know America is rampant with stupid sick people! God Bless capitilism,

Look at the big picture FFS

and what is 1.6 trillion? didnt j0r govermerment spend that on a stupid war they cant get out of? Easy come easy go kk
