Introduction to C2

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Just something we thought to throw out and see if there is any interest or need?

Most people active in the forums are already doing fine in C2, but those of you with newer guildmates and friends, would they profit from a scheduled Introduction to C2 tour?

It would probably be best for those with def of 21 or 26, take a couple of hours, go to many of the safe places in C2, discuss the places that are not so safe, and answer whatever questions people might have. It could be a regularly scheduled tour during different timezones to accomodate as many people as possible.

Thoughts? Comments? Suggestions?

Anna

One thing that would be a good idea to add to the tour is to mention spots for harvesting minerals, ores, etc.

I've been to c2 multiple times and am still unsure of where to find some things :P

If scheduled tours do not work perhaps someone could create a video guide?

Just a thought

Hi Anna

Can you be more specific about the intent of the tour?

For example, if the intent is to teach a new player how to read Maps, look up things like PK/Multi/Monster info for a map, how to determine Map to Map linkages...then could this be done on C1?

I think C2 should remain a secret. :P

We did that once in the german channel, when quite a lot of new players came there and did a guided tour to C2.

Well, not with totally newbies, but with players, who had at least some levels.

We showed them, how to go to c2, port anitora, idalorain and the way to palon vertas.

And, of course, how to leave the c2 underworld, after they attacked a feran or such, lol.

At least, they had some fun, since we warned them, how dangerous C2 is, and they didnt lost any stuff.

So, yeah, such guided tours might be nice, our one was at least fun for everyone.

And no, C2 must not be a secret anymore IMO :P

Yes, Piper, that is exactly the sort of thing I had in mind. Ent does not consider C2 a secret, and we want to encourage people to go there, but only when they can safely navigate the maps, know how to problem solve, and have fun exploring.

i like the idea of an c2 quest a little better than a guide. it gives them incentive to go to c2 and they must explore a little to be able to find what they need for the quest..

i dont know if its possible to make the quest so that you must have lvl 26 def to start it. but it would be nice.

could have a few parts.. like the multiple tutorial npc quests..

1st part could be they need skunk and racoon furs to make fur hats.. where do they get it .. C2 of course.. you mention how to get to PA and that it takes 100 gc's. then they go get the stuff for the fur hats..

2nd part could be that there is a rumor that some evil mage is erecting a fortress in PV.. they have to go scout it out.. so they go to PV and have to touch something inside that building.. (not on EL right now so i cant look to see what it is) but its the one at the idaloran exit. i think its a school of some kind..

3rd part could be a celebration to celabrate their newfound knowledge of c2 they must go buy a drink from EVTR tavern and bring it to the NPC to claim a final reward for completing the qeusts..

now the reward is up to yall to figure out..

(just an idea) :)

1st part could be they need skunk and racoon furs to make fur hats..

  1. Blasphemy! They're put to far better use in potions :)
  2. Bullshit! A fur hat takes beaver and white rabbit furs (you're thinking skunk and raccoon hats).

On topic, nice idea, I already have a guildie in mind who I'd make participate :P Maybe you can try a tour during high traffic hours first and see how many players are taking part.

I love the idea and I'm willing to help with these tours. I think people would join them mainly to see the locations for harvestables or spawns. There are many of us who still don't know the potential of C2, even among older players.

Good to hear the ways to reach C2 are no longer a secret

We were discussing similar idea in AoI but we thought it is still not allowed to reveal such info freely on the public channels (I guess we still live under a rock :P)

Let me know if you need any help with this project, I'll gladly help if only time allows

On the other hand, I believe such tours should focus on showing the basics only - way to reach C2, storage locations, mine entrance in Ida and maybe one other map (PV perhaps), combined with general info on Irillion rather than showing details such as spawns and harvestables. The player who is ready to start a life in Irillion is surely capable of finding these by himself/herself. We should encourage exploring rather than newbiefy C2

I, too, think this is a great idea. My friends and I have just begun exploring c2, but it is still quite an unfamiliar place. A guided tour would be fun, and that's really the whole point here - I believe.

A human tour is much better than a quest.

In a way I totally agree, the only problem is, while tours are usually a one time thing, quests are here to stay.

I think the way to C2 should be less hidden than it is, since C2 is a part of the game for a really long time. How about nuking that hut & rocks and marking "To Irilion" on WS map?

i was also thinking of something like this would be cool...

well lets talk serious, how would we do it?

one person obviously has to be standing at the transcontinental transport place explaining the people what to do .. or even before that to tell them where to go.. :P

it would be difficult to have just one tourist guide because we all know that it is impossible to manage more than 3 people on EL at the same time (respect for the exceptions)

than another person should be waiting in the docks in c2 and constantly give instructions to the arriving people..

and basically i think the tour should be of course during daytime (no leonard), and through the "safest" maps of c2 so people will get a picture.

also a stop at a storage should be made at some point so people can pick up or give some ings and get from another guide some fur stuff and go to the icy areas to know that they need cold protection..

and at the end go to a pk map (or some supa dangerous place), die and than the last guide would help them get outta hell...

this plan would need maybe 5 or 6 helpers or guides... and should go on constantly (for 3 hours or so) because having groups is impossible

maybe this could be a standard event on sundays, or saturday when there is high traffic in EL, every 6 hours one "guide-session" could begin. and than invasion :D

Thanks all, just the sort of input I was looking for. Hard for me to think of all the things we should cover and all the pitfalls that might arise. My idea was to generally escort players around many of the maps, let people mapmark and look around as we are walking, answer questions, and the trip to a cold environment and to Underworld are great ideas.

As far as I know, the ship to C2 is not a game secret any longer, but Ch 1 and newbies in general are still not "handed" the way to go there. The discussion surrounding "look for the hidden passage in Lakeside" usually includes some warnings and is pretty effective in making people think twice if they are really not ready. If they don't heed the advice, oh well...

We did discuss this being a regularly scheduled event, so that people could sign up somewhere or contact me (or whomever) when they want to go. Thanks for the offer Creedka, let's talk 8)

I agree completely that a personal tour is more useful than a quest, as it addresses immediate questions and the player can feel somewhat safe being led around. I know my first visits to C2 were escorted, and I learned much more than if I had been worried I would die.

Anyone have an specific ideas for places/things that should definitely be included? how about things that should NOT be included?

For instance, no PK maps, and no hydro tours...not going there 8).

Should Zirakgunda be included? or stick with more obvious mines and resources?

Heavybeard location is one i think should be included, as well as Glacmor Skill School.

Your thoughts?

Anna

As far as I undersand the idea it's mostly for newcomers to Irilion. Thus, I would rather limit the locations to the most basic and important ones. Too much information is impossible to assimilate, even for the smartest people.

I'd try with Idaloran-->Bethel-->Sedicolis-->Palon Vertas--> Idaloran for the first trip.

The second one could go through some more areas, including some of the cold ones.

Just my opinion.

Nah, your first suggesion is fine, i think. After that, they should go exploring.

IMO this should show them C2 and make them going exploring and not give them a complete walkthrough.

Show them the stores, interesting NPC's like heavybeard, the place where they respawn from C2 underworld, 1-2 places where they can harvest food and then let them go, i would say. That takes already long enough IMO.

Im glad to hear that C2 is no longer secret as well... :P

How long would a tour take? Would you be considering a certain time limit? This might help in figuring out what could be included.

I was thinking on similar lines.. with a quest. they only get spacific info on how to get places.. and as far as them finding out if a map is dangerous.. they should learn to use the encyclopedia more..

if we did the quest idea they would be introduced to 3 maps. with storages. different taverns.. different resources and different animals..

as far as showing them heavybeard. and other more spacific things.. i say let them explore.. i was never walked around and showed things in c2. i found things myself and when some one else in my guild found something then he/she would tell us.. but we still had to go find it ourselves.

exploring is Good. and when they find something they like or would use like a good mining spot.. its like a reward in itself for their exporing..

and the part about c2 underworld.. if they start exploring c2 they will die. and its not that hard to get out of c2 underworld.. it may just take a few minutes the 1st time.

I prefer the quest idea, but people learn in different ways. I learn things by doing, others learn by reading about them.

A C2 journey quest would be fine too, but quest NPC's dont answer questions, thats why such a tour might have an advantage, and its a difference, if youre just running around on some maps to solve a quest, or have a (human) guide with you, who can explain some things.

Thats why i personally think, a guided tour is a good thing, but a quest wont hurt too.

Suggestion for a C2 journey quest:

1) Go and bring me 10 skunk tails.

2) Go and bring me 10 raccoon tails

3) Go and bring me 10 feran tails

4) Go and bring me 10 lions tails

5) Go and bring me 10 tails of Leonard

6) Go and bring me 10 Feros tails

7) Go and bring me 10 red dragon tails.

8) Congratz, here you have your free party hat.

Umm.. better not :P

I really like this idea! Nice suggestion Annatira, I remember the first time I ever visited C2... it was so new to me, and really scary. A guildie walked me through several maps and I got really confused, it'd be nice to have this tour.
